We loved everything about this property. The location is tucked away and sheltered. The building is well looked after and maintained. The art work and decoration of the inn itself are relevant to the area and the building which makes reading and looking at them really interesting and pays homage to the history of it and the local area. The staff are super friendly, helpful, polite and you can’t ask for anything more. They really made our stay there so great. The rooms and living areas are modern and clean, the beds are comfy. The playgrounds are great for kids of all ages, the animals are delightful. Absolutely loved it and would visit again in the future!

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the property.

The accom was a purpose built shepherd's hut so was compact and cosy. No 2 has a view over the gardens where ducks and geese roam free. Nice bench in front of the hut good for a drink while the sun goes down. Breakfast (taken within the pub lounge) can be as large or small as you want, either English or continental. The grounds are a myriad of curios and animals including, fish, goats, chickens, rabbits, pterodactyls and a tin giraffe - just for starters. If you don't like dogs, this is not really the place for you as it is very very dog friendly. Dogs are welcome both as visitors to the bar and as guests in the accommodation, as long as their owners are well behaved.

Not really a negative, just an observation. The 3 steps up into the hut are steep and may challenge the elderly or infirm.

Staff were all friendly. Easy check in, lovely room, with comfortable bed and doors that open out onto a private balcony area. Nice bar with large outside area. Picturesque setting by a stream, with mill wheel outside my room. Plenty of parking. There was a screen in the bar, with several suggestions of local places to see. Breakfast was very nice. I opted for the small breakfast and there was plenty of it

While the room was lovely and clean, the balcony area wasn't! There was a table and some chairs, that would have been nice to sit in, as it was a warm night, but they, along with the railings were dirty and covered in cobwebs. It was a shame, because if clean, the balcony, overlooking the stream, with the mill wheel and with several carp in it, would have been a lovely area to relax

The Little Mill Inn is in a perfect location at the end of a quiet lane. The inn and the garden are so lovely- with goats, chickens, fish and bunnies, as well as a great play area for kids to explore although we were on an adult friends break. Our apartment was really spacious and had everything we needed, including a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. We ate in the pub one night and for two breakfasts and the food was excellent quality and the portions were HUGE! The staff were all super friendly and helpful, with special mention to the young guy who welcomed us when we arrived and served us in the restaurant- we didn’t catch his name but he offered such a warm and friendly service. There are lots of lovely walks right on the doorstep so it really is the perfect location for a quiet break, we will definitely be back! Thank you for a great stay ☺️

Nothing, everything was great!

The staff made the stay memorable. Sadly there was no guests' sitting room and the one chair that was in our two roomed suite was amazingly uncomfortable. We asked if we could change it for a more comfortable one placed outside on the landing and the answer was negative. It is obviously at least a two person suite but it would have been good to have somewhere decent to sit on. I appreciate the need for restaurants these days to have a time frame of usually two hours to eat a meal but as we were staying guests with nowhere to go after the two hours were up, to sit and continue our chat with an invited other guest for lunch, we were reprimanded when we asked if we could extend our two hour slot. In the end we sat ouside freezing but enjoyed the ducks! We chose, therefore, not to have coffee otherwise we would have had an iced version. It is wonderful to see a hospitality unit so busy in these uncertain economic times and all obviously work hard to sustain that. The turnover of the restaurant is impressive and no doubt people come back all the time so well done on that. If people are staying they do need somewhere to enjoy the inn besides sitting on they bed or as in our instance one of us coping with an inordinately uncomfortable chair. The interiors were well chosen and well kept and downstairs toilets exceptional. Those views and great selection of climbing frames, swings and slides for young people, let alone the fish and those lovely ducks all nestled in such a beautiful valley was perfect. Thank you for our stay. Continue the good work of providing such generous and delicious meals but perhaps think occasionally what else might be needed for the overnight guests. Somewhere to sit comfortably please after that delicious food.

No comfortable chairs in the rooms and no flexibility for staying guests to stay at table when they had nowhere else to go. 80+ year olds drinking coffee outside in the cold is not ideal!

The pub food is absolutely amazing, lovely breakfast and the staff were so accommodating, giving us a separate space in the pub to celebrate a birthday, helping us surprise mum with flowers and cake! We were able to check in early to decorate the room and the rooms were so spacious and fully equipped and very warm. (The shepherds hut my sister did find chilly!) the kids used the park and we loved the goats and ducks! We also did a circular walk from the pub, the detailed map was really helpful.

The shower wasn’t great, we couldn’t get it the right temp it was either too hot or too cold! But it was a minor inconvenience

The location is technically in the middle of nowhere, very beautiful and quiet. The room was very spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The sofa bed doesn't compare to the beds, however saying that, it is a good one. Plenty of tea and coffee, some biscuits and bottle of fresh water available in the room. The restaurant very beautiful and busy, served excellent food. Prices on the pricey side, but worth the money. Plenty of cooked breakfast options available and generous tea and coffee and other continental options on top, served in the beautiful restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. All the little animals around the inn (2 little goats, ducks, geese, rooster and chickens, bunnies and the pond with loads of big fish) added to the charm of the place. Nice walk up the hill to a land of sheep and beautiful views. We stayed 3 nights and had dinner one night. The steak was delicious as well as everything else. The only mistake was to have starters, as the mains portion were very generous and could not finish them.

Very nice place. Second time we've stayed here. Staff are always friendly. Very good breakfast. Nice comfortable rooms. Location is a little out of the way but we had no trouble getting Uber. Stayed whilst attending Firevolt Festival. Recommended.

You have to ask for the room to be serviced. This shouldn't really be required. They should really be done every day without requesting. Particularly if, as in our case, you are there for multiple nights. If you forget to request you'll need to ask for clean towels. But these were provided fine when I asked. Just a personal observation really.

Absolutely beautiful place! We stayed in the deluxe family room which was really big with two bedrooms open to each other joined by steps with a king bed and double bed. You can reach the bedroom via the path outside which is good for a pram, or via the stairs through the pub. The owner and all staff are extremely friendly and chatty. We stayed for one night and had breakfast which was a lovely cooked breakfast with a good choice, and they also had cereal and yoghurt options with fresh juices, The bar is welcoming and had a good selection of drinks, also had their lovely little dogs walking round too. It’s very popular and busy, we stayed in October so I can imagine it’s very popular in the summer. The kids playground was good too with the animals in it and two lovely goats. We’d highly recommend this pub either for food or to stay too, and we’d love to return.

The staff were very welcoming on arrival and throughout the 4 days we were there. 10/10 The food was first class .We had 3 breakfasts and one evening meal.All were excellent. 10/10. Parking facilities were great and there is a very good atmosphere there.The local taxis we used were great. 10/10 We were at a wedding in Hayfield and the four taxis we used were prompt and reliable.

We are not used to sharing the corridors to our room. with dogs so although they were generally well behaved we would have preferred not to see or hear them in the main hotel.
