What an absolute gem of a find this place was, the location is ideal for visiting local villages such as Eyam, Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Holmfirth to name a few. Mark, the host, is absolutely brilliant and makes you feel like you're one of the family and nothing is too much trouble for him. His food is second to none, his breakfasts were superb, and the Steak & Kidney pie we had for our evening meal was tasty and delicious. The pub is spotless, with lovely furnishings and our ensuite room was immaculate and very comfortable. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful and you feel like Mark and his team, including Grandad 'Phil' genuinely want to make your stay the best ever. They definitely made our stay one of the best we've ever had, and we definitely want to visit again. Finally, the Lantern Pike has strong links with Coronation Street, some links with Emmerdale and Mark also has a link with Kathy Staff (Nora Batty), but you will need to visit the pub to find out all the very interesting facts direct from Mark himself. The local village Hayfield is also where Arthur Lowe (Captain Mainwaring) was born, another interesting place to visit. If you want to visit and stay in the Peak District, you must stay at the Lantern Pike, you won't be disappointed. We'll Done Mark and all your staff and thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

Excellent breakfast, well cooked with quality ingredients. Mark pulls out all the stops to ensure all tastes catered for. Great location with easy access to plenty of walks, including the Lantern Pike. Great beer garden with lovely views and a well stocked bar. Good selection of evening meals, good portions and well cooked. If there is something extra that you would like Mark will do his best to accommodate ( made a fantastic Caesar salad for Rosa). When Mark having a well earned rest Stacey steps up to the plate and continues the great service. Thank you to the whole team and hope to see you all again in the future.

The hosts Mark and Gary are very welcoming and friendly, cannot give them enough praise. Both have a good sense of humour and had us in stitches. They couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is brilliant and clean. Rooms were warm, Bank Holiday weekend, so had to have the window open which ment had the road noise. It is on a main road but to us was acceptable. Beds were very comfy and clean, I don't like heavy detergent smells and there was none, so had a good sleep. The breakfast was included which is a good touch, the scrambled eggs were to die for. Food was exceptional, good choice on the menu and great eaten in the garden at the back of the hotel with lovely views. On the day of departure we were sent off with big hugs, such a lovely send off. We went for a walk down the lane, so much to take in and there is a path up onto Lantern pike (we didnt go) so a good reason to go back to have a mooch around and to see Mark and Gary.
There is nothing to dislike.

We were after a B&B that was in close distance to a wedding that we were attending. The location was excellent. The owners of the establishment were excellent and made you feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We did have a problem with the door lock, but this was quickly addressed by them. We wanted something to eat but they had finished serving meals, but they made us a fantastic BLT on Ciabatta with salad . The breakfast the next morning was excellent, all cooked fresh to order, no curled up or dry bacon which was great. Sadly we were only there for the one night but the friendliness of the 2 owners was outstanding and you were made to feel like a friend. Any body visiting this B&B, it is not a 5 star hotel. It is an old country inn with bedrooms and loads of character. The cleanliness and food was better than some of the 4 and 5 star hotels we have stayed in . The welcome and service was 5star plus. There is some refurbishment going on but this did not affect our stay in any way. You got good value for your money. We will most defiantly being going back.
If I had to give any negative then possibly the carparking is not the best as you are on a main road, but this would not stop me from visiting again. As long as you realise this is a very old building and does not have all the mod cons, then your stay will be enjoyable.

A beautiful 1800's Inn which has undergone sympathetic restoration. The 2 owners are excellent hosts & their staff very welcoming & nothing was a chore for them. Lovely food at reasonable prices. Excellent breakfast. Very clean. The weather was good enough to eat in the beer garden which has raised areas with beautiful flower beds. Lovely view from the rear of the Derbyshire fells.
Our room was the last one available which we both thought was good for the price. The bed was a little soft for me but that is subjective. Turns out our room was the last in line for planned renovation so on our next visit the comfort will probably get 5 stars.

Good location for Manchester and the Peak District. Nice room with great views, Good breakfast. Choice of cereal, yoghurt, toast and a cooked breakfast done to order.
Breakfast instructions not clear. Stayed 2 nights. Day 1 buffet breakfast available as it was busy. Day 2, hotel quieter and all brought to table, but not actually obvious that was what was happening or what choices were available. Also - staff not really listening when taking orders. 2 days, so 4 breakfasts between us - didn't get the exact order correct for any of them. Great that it's all done to order, but maybe just put a checklist on each table so that the guests are clear what the options are and the chef then cooks what was requested.

I was walking with my daughter and did not realise my phone was on silent. Mark (the owner) tried everything to get in touch with me to tell us our room was out of action (no fault of the hotel) and he went above and beyond to resolve the issue. We had a. very comfortable room with excellent on-suite facilities. Food was great- I had their beetroot pie which was excellent. The Lantern Pike Inn is a beautiful building and has been tastefully restored. The prices are very reasonable. If you can stop here - do!
That the owners were having a rough time because of personal issues - we wish them both well.

Staff were amazing, accommodating and nothing was too much. The bed was super comfy, the amenities were good, the location was just what we needed and the view was beautiful
The toilet in the room was so close to the wall and shower door that there wasnt much room to manoeuvre. Also the noise was a little too much for my daughter as we had an early morning climb and the noise went on until late.! Although I was advised it was a one off reunion. Also was a Friday night so maybe thats just expected in an inn?

It has oldie world charm - Mark was a fabulous host and made us feel very welcome, food was exceptional and breakfast amazing. Looking for somewhere to stay in that area, you won’t go wrong with this Inn - Mark is so passionate about this Inn, it isn’t just a job it’s a way of life. Beer garden is fabulous and views amazing. If you like the traditional English Pub this is for you. He is the host with the most - thanks again Mark - wishing you every success with this wonderful venture 💐
