Room/beds were beyond our expectations. DVD player would have been nice addition (maybe get these when renewing TVs in future?). Toiletries were a nice touch and plentiful. Breakfast was superb as usual. Location perfect for walking around Buxton...shops, restaurants, Opera House/Arts Centre right on the doorstep.

We would have liked free (or very nominal fee) use of the swimming pool/sauna...it did used to be included so we were rather disappointed that this changed as no-one seemed to be using the pool in the evenings, especially.

Great location. Clean. Nice bar and lounge areas. Superb staff, especially bar/catering staff. Ellie should be commended for her amazingly calm and professional approach to a particularly disturbing incident on the night of 27.9. A woman had been badly beaten by her boyfriend and had her 10 month old baby with her. Ellie immediately took charge of ensuring the baby was safe and comfortable and her approach assisted to calm mother and other hotel guests in the vicinity. She really should be praised for her attitude and actions, especially when approached mid crisis by guests requesting she serve them at the bar! Her mother and aunt (sorry I cannot remember your names) were equally as friendly and sociable and really did help this solo traveller feel comfortable and welcome.

I was expecting the pool, steam and sauna area to be open - as had been advertised renovations would be complete by the 24th. Guests should have been informed prior to if not on checking in of this delay. It was the only negative I had re: my stay.

Staff were very helpful and hotel had taken note of all our requests prior to arrival

Didn’t realise rooms would not be cleaned or re stocked with toiletries unless we asked. Didn’t see notice in room.

Outside and public areas all beautifully kept and styled to suit the eta it was built. It was impressive.

Reception was too slow. It was very inefficient. It took 40 minutes of queuing to be seen. Only two staff on duty. One receptionist, a middle aged person spent 10 minutes between each check in to sort through paperwork in front of a restless queue that stretched across the whole foyer. When we booked some months ago we asked for a room close to reception or lift for our friend who has poor mobility. He was allocated the furthest away room on third floor a long walk from the lift at the end of the corridor. The bathroom light was broken and the bathroom door didn’t close.

Sitting in Buxton Opera House before checking in, the person sitting next to me screwed up her face when I told her where I was staying. She COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! Very efficient check-in. Reasonable parking rate. clean and comfy single room, obviously recently refurbished with modern, clean furniture. Shower room - quite new and very clean. A very grand setting, well kept with good gardens to walk in. Excellent breakfast (but being picky, the prunes could have been jucier!). Super location for the pretty part of Buxton and near a couple of very good pubs. Roll on the G&S Festival 2026 because I'll be booking again

First of all Jane the receptionist was most helpful in finding me a different room to the one that was allocated, she was great, very customer orientated. The room was spacious and very comfortable. A view of the front of the hotel, excellent and the location of the hotel is super convenient. Breakfast and dinner as I was half board was excellent.

I was in room 114 and the shower door needs attention as it has been installed offset with the base and so the doors stay open on the edge while using it allowing water to go out onto the bathroom floor. The hotel could do with an upgrade of an A/C system for hot weather as the rooms can become quite stuffy so some investment may be required there.

Location of room was at the side of the building so had little noise from traffic. It was very useful having a mini in fridge in the room

Room was located over the car car park for the Spa entrance so some noise was evident. Room required re decoration as the roof was discoloured in one corner and there were cracks in the sealing. Also pipework running in duct in one corner was not fully enclosed. Lack of clarity about car parking. No message to pay at reception appears at log in screen. Resource management issues - one person on reception desk at peak times ( checking in , checking out) Request for housekeeping not completed. Occupant had to empty bins from room.

Great location, literally a stones throw from the high street, which was great after a long walk and you wanted to walk into the town for food and a drink.

The breakfast was a little chaotic. The coffee machines were not working so some small insulated coffee jugs were used instead, but as they were so small it wasn't too long before they were empty. Teapots were inside cabinets, but the cabinets had no signs on so people didn't know where to look and the milk jugs were on top of these cabinets, so a lot of people weren't tall enough to see where they were located. I'm sure this was only a temporary issue but it did make getting a hot drink a little more time consuming than necessary. The breakfast itself was buffet style and of good quality. Would definitely stay again.
