Good Health Spa & location

No parking apart from £30 per night valet service Exceptionally small room - Attic Room Charged for Queen room but we were given Attic Room, Booking.com & hotel blamed each other. The matter was not resolved by either party. Poor Bar Service - staff member would not accept that cloudy lager was acceptable & only response was ‘there was nothing wrong with the barrel’!!

The Hotel itself and the Spa were excellent. The room was spacious, light, comfortable, well decorated, and equipped and the bathroom had a bath and separate shower. There are several lounges, the whole hotel is well maintained and accessible. The hotel is centrally located opposite the wellhead and close to shops, the Opera house, restaurants and public transport. Breakfast was very good. The Spa is sensational.

Although the staff were pleasant and polite, the service was often very slow especially in the restaurant and bar and at times seemed a bit unprofessional. We found much of what we ordered in the restaurant either unpalatable or inedible, our requests were ignored and the service for both food and drinks was slow and uncoordinated.

Stunning hotel in the centre of Buxton overlooking road then gardens to the front. Very clean and airy hotel in lovely Georgian building. Old features but contemporary decoration. Beds were very comfortable, room light and airy, very nice bathroom. Spa was fantastic - the nicest i have ever been to. Wished I had booked a treatment or two. Staff were very polite and attentive. Breakfast was very fresh and delicious and served in attractive dining room. Bar, comfortable, had nice views and good atmosphere.

Bar dinner main course a little dull and disappointing - dessert fabulous.

a perfect stay for our wedding anniversary. Staff were lovely, room was perfect, really comfortable and quiet, a complimentary bottle of bubbly was a lovely surprize too. Fantastic location - stones throw from Buxton Opera House. Breakfast was very good and well run - again all the staff were very helpful. would love to return and use the Spa next time.

The tea/coffee making station needs a rethink - we had to boil the kettle on one side of the room, stepping over stretched cables, and make the drinks on a table at the other end off the room.

Excellent location in beautiful Buxton with shopping and restaurants just minutes away and ample parking close by. Impressive reception and lounge with porters on hand. We had a marvellous generously sized room with comfy chairs and table and a lovely comfortable mattress The shower is amazing and the bathroom has a large bath also. This is a spa hotel with 4 pools and all the spa treatments you could wish for. Breakfast is good with plenty of choices. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and helpful throughout. Will return at some point.

We had a meal on our first night and weren't impressed. A little fussy and pretentious without delivering.

Spa area. Finding the fresh replacement robes we had requested. How cute the attic rooms were. Having windows that opened.

Queue to check in. Maybe if one could check in earlier the queues wouldn't be so long? Most annoying was no one answered the phone (neither housekeeping nor reception) so I had no idea our request for fresh robes had been received until we found them outside the door next morning (by which point we were wearing the soggy ones from the previous day). Nice to find them though ;) thank you!

Perfect location in Buxton around the corner from the Pavilion Gardens. Excellent choice of food to order for breakfast. Lots of different rooms in the spa to give the ultimate relaxing experience. The outdoor pool was refreshing- warm pool with fresh air nice in the mornings. Good shower. Probably the best place to stay in Buxton as the building is so charming. Great base for walks too.

Pillow choice wasn’t great as they were all soft. The filter coffee wasn’t very strong at breakfast we ended up ordering latte instead the next day and they took 20 mins to arrive. No cool pool to swim in you just have to sit in all the pools as they are so warm! So definitely for relaxation rather than exercise.

Great location and loved the spa facilities. It was wonderful that we didn’t need to book a slot in the spa we could just wait and see when we felt like going. Much more relaxing. Staff are all very friendly.

I just felt that that for the money we paid a couple of things were missing. Eg Netflix or similar (we have our own account but couldn’t seem to use it), it would have been nice to have more than water in the mini fridge (happy to pay more) and finally when ordering tea and coffee at the end of the meal a tiny chocolate or biscuit would have been welcome.

Fabulous: location, staff, breakfast, swimming pool, cleanliness.

Room was so small as to be almost unfit for purpose. We paid extra for ‘Queen room’ which was supposed to be substantially bigger than an ‘attic room ‘. It was clear that we were given the smallest size of attic room, and the reception staff confirmed that there was only one size of attic room. I cannot envisage any room being any smaller. I took the matter up with the manager who completely stone-walled me. The queen bed was actually normal double size and Mr Manager said that Americans would call this a queen. I pointed out that I was not American! Hotel + Booking.com really need to sort this out - a great shame as otherwise our stay would have been 10/10. Also, for nearly £300 per night I would expect a proper bath tub, not just a shower!

Beautiful rooms and the spa facilities are second to none. The beds are super comfy and the hotel is very clean

I've stayed here several times, for the great spa facilities, lovely bedrooms and great location. But, the breakfast always lets this place down. It's nowhere near the standard the rest of the hotel. The cooked breakfasts are generally of a mediocre level and the continental buffet is quite frankly a shambles. For example, I have never had a continental breakfast buffet that doesn't offer some selection of bread rolls, and I've never been offered any here. The meat and cheese selection is very meagre and hit and miss on quality. What's really annoying is you cannot book a room at this hotel and opt out of the breakfast, which at £25 a head would be a welcoming saving. I would much rather spend that money on a decent breakfast in one of the cafes outside of the hotel.
