We loved everything about this property. The location is tucked away and sheltered. The building is well looked after and maintained. The art work and decoration of the inn itself are relevant to the area and the building which makes reading and looking at them really interesting and pays homage to the history of it and the local area. The staff are super friendly, helpful, polite and you can’t ask for anything more. They really made our stay there so great. The rooms and living areas are modern and clean, the beds are comfy. The playgrounds are great for kids of all ages, the animals are delightful. Absolutely loved it and would visit again in the future!

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the property.

The accom was a purpose built shepherd's hut so was compact and cosy. No 2 has a view over the gardens where ducks and geese roam free. Nice bench in front of the hut good for a drink while the sun goes down. Breakfast (taken within the pub lounge) can be as large or small as you want, either English or continental. The grounds are a myriad of curios and animals including, fish, goats, chickens, rabbits, pterodactyls and a tin giraffe - just for starters. If you don't like dogs, this is not really the place for you as it is very very dog friendly. Dogs are welcome both as visitors to the bar and as guests in the accommodation, as long as their owners are well behaved.

Not really a negative, just an observation. The 3 steps up into the hut are steep and may challenge the elderly or infirm.

Staff were all friendly. Easy check in, lovely room, with comfortable bed and doors that open out onto a private balcony area. Nice bar with large outside area. Picturesque setting by a stream, with mill wheel outside my room. Plenty of parking. There was a screen in the bar, with several suggestions of local places to see. Breakfast was very nice. I opted for the small breakfast and there was plenty of it

While the room was lovely and clean, the balcony area wasn't! There was a table and some chairs, that would have been nice to sit in, as it was a warm night, but they, along with the railings were dirty and covered in cobwebs. It was a shame, because if clean, the balcony, overlooking the stream, with the mill wheel and with several carp in it, would have been a lovely area to relax

The location is technically in the middle of nowhere, very beautiful and quiet. The room was very spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The sofa bed doesn't compare to the beds, however saying that, it is a good one. Plenty of tea and coffee, some biscuits and bottle of fresh water available in the room. The restaurant very beautiful and busy, served excellent food. Prices on the pricey side, but worth the money. Plenty of cooked breakfast options available and generous tea and coffee and other continental options on top, served in the beautiful restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. All the little animals around the inn (2 little goats, ducks, geese, rooster and chickens, bunnies and the pond with loads of big fish) added to the charm of the place. Nice walk up the hill to a land of sheep and beautiful views. We stayed 3 nights and had dinner one night. The steak was delicious as well as everything else. The only mistake was to have starters, as the mains portion were very generous and could not finish them.

Very nice place. Second time we've stayed here. Staff are always friendly. Very good breakfast. Nice comfortable rooms. Location is a little out of the way but we had no trouble getting Uber. Stayed whilst attending Firevolt Festival. Recommended.

You have to ask for the room to be serviced. This shouldn't really be required. They should really be done every day without requesting. Particularly if, as in our case, you are there for multiple nights. If you forget to request you'll need to ask for clean towels. But these were provided fine when I asked. Just a personal observation really.

100% would recommend. ALL the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Nobody let the side down at all. We felt so welcomed throughout our stay and they were happy to help with anything from questions to food etc. One member of the bar staff even went out of his way to write down directions of his favourite hike as a recommendation to our group. The room I had was spacious, clean and had everything I needed. Bed was comfortable, I slept very well. It is a little expensive but you totally get your money's worth. The evening meals are roughly around the £20 mark, but the portions are HUGE! Lots of the ingredients are locally sourced as well, both the meats and the fruit/vegetables. Beautiful area and lots of great walks close by and short drives away. Amazing stay! Thanks Little Mill!

Honestly, I can't think of anything. Possibly the prices may put people off, but as I said before, you definitely get your money's worth and then some.

Location is second to none, quiet and beautiful. The shepherd's hut was clean, comfortable, and cosy. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food is all locally sourced and beautifully cooked. In the hut we had TV, kettle and plenty of tea, coffee, milk and sugar available with some lovely biscuits. The location is beautiful as mentioned before, riverside position with ample seating and cover outside, music playing, play area and animals and lots of little spots around the grounds with things to see. There is riverside seating which is under cover and the pub toilets are spacious, clean and well presented. Animals walk freely such as ducks, geese, goats and you can occasionally see the sheep from surrounding farms being herded through the gardens. There are ample walking areas with amazing views. Perfect for a unwinding stay. It's in the middle of nowhere which is perfect for me, coming from a small mill town on the edge if the peak district national park myself, but I can see some people finding it a little too much in middle of nowhere. But for us it was idyllic and peaceful. X

Brilliant food and service. The facilities were excellent such a beautiful setting. The food was excellent value for money, large portions and a wide range of options to choose from. Good selection of wines to compliment the food. The animals were a nice touch outside, the goats made our stay they were very funny to watch. The room itself was a shepards hut and had everything we needed, the space had been utilised well so it didn’t feel too cramped. Also as it was quite close to the beer garden we didn’t feel uncomfortable, the hut was also sound proofed inside.

There was an extremely strong smell of sewage in some parts of the property, and parking was an absolute nightmare when we arrived on a sunny day.

We visit the Peak District a couple of times a year and the Little Mill Inn is the best place we have stayed in. Our room with the biggest balcony I’ve ever seen was very spacious and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The staff were fabulous and even though the pub was busy we never had to wait to be served. When we mentioned that the water wheel had been noisy overnight, the owner immediately sorted it out and all was quiet on our our second night. We ate dinner there both nights and the food was excellent, as was breakfast and Sunday lunch.

The food portions were very large so I opted for a smaller plate of Sunday lunch. I would have liked this option to have smaller portions extended to more main meals. However my husband loved the portion sizes! The balcony could have been better maintained however I still enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine.

Little Mill Inn is at the end of a no through road just when we thought where on earth are we going the road opens up into this Inn. There is a play park, small brook, fsh pond and plenty of outside seating with a nice little flower bed near the front door. We stayed in one of the Shepherd Huts quirky for a 3 night break and my sister had one of the double rooms in the Inn building itself. The owner and all the staff were so welcoming and helpful. Excellent good value pub food. Would not hesitate to stay there again when we are that way again.
