If you have the unfortunate task of using the Cedar Rapids airport at Christmas time–unfortunate in the sense that whether you will actually depart due to Iowa weather is never certain and the duplicity of the airline industry itself–I recommend that you book a quality night at the Avid hotel. The facility is clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is super friendly and willing to go the extra distance to make your stay enjoyable. Plus, my wife loved the breakfast, probably more than one should for your basic continental breakfast, but love is a funny thing.

Clean, nice, friendly.

This probably won’t be able to be fixed, but it was the ONLY thing about the property we didn’t like. There was no freezer compartment in the refrigerator. Guests who need a refrigerator usually have an ice pack to keep in their cooler on the way home. However, at breakfast I told the desk person we had an ice pack we couldn’t refreeze, and she took it and put it somewhere to freeze. Yea! So it got to freeze a few hours until checkout. I wish I had known this the evening before!

I needed a place to stay for 2 different nights for my flight at Cedar Rapids Airport. The room was clean and quiet, with a fancy shower. I was impressed with the window blind that shut out all light from outside. They had a decent selection for breakfast items.

Room was tiny for 1 person, let alone 2. It's clear the hotel is designed for airfare travelers in mind, not long-term stay. My flight was very early so I had a relative drop me off at the airport rather than use the airport shuttle service.

Location was ideal for a morning flight from CID. Hotel is brand new and clean. Staff is helpful and efficient.

Furnishings are spartan, and the chic, modern design in the rooms is almost too austere. The towels need to be upgraded substanially. A bit expensive, but I guess everything is these days...

Loved the well designed space. Contemporary and attractive. Breakfast was adequate. Comfortable beds, Smart bathroom - as you approached the door, the light would come on. It was a pleasure to be in a place that didn't have cookie cutter style decor. We asked for, and, received, housekeeping, which was much appreciated.

The lobby seating, although, attractive, was not very comfortable - which wouldn't affect many guests. Staff acknowledged the seating and said it hadn't been broken in yet. : )

Amazing staff, makes it easy to feel so comfortable while traveling so far. Always happy here! You can tell they try and that goes so far. Very grateful!

The bright smoke detector light, flashing all night long. I sleep with an eye mask anyway, but sometimes I can still see the flashing.

This was one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. After a 16 hour drive, all I wanted was a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Avid did not disappoint! The hotel and my room were perfectly immaculate and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I very much appreciated the black out curtain, the lighted bathroom mirror, and the super efficient check-in. The room was not large, but it was spotless and had everything I needed for my brief stay. Loved it!

Maybe there was a way to keep the bathroom light from coming on automatically when you entered it - but I couldn’t figure it out. Don’t really want the full light on at 2am, especially since the light switch also had a night light. Also, the breakfast is set up more as a “grab-and-go” rather than a plated breakfast. Which makes sense, given its airport location. Just don’t expect eggs, bacon, or a waffle machine. Neither the bathroom light, nor the light breakfast offered, would deter me from staying at this hotel chain again. I’ll stay in one every time I travel if I can!

Very clean and comfortable stay. Was especially impressed with the staff, who were all friendly and went out of their way to make us feel valued. Thoughtful desk clerk who checked us in the evening of March 23 even looked up and wrote down my IHG rewards number and handed it to me (without me asking) when I didn't remember it! Breakfast was very good with a variety of choices and well stocked. Room was well designed with thoughtful touches, modern, and exceptionally clean. This was our first stay at the Avid chain, but it won't be our last!

This is our second time staying at this hotel when passing through town on our way to Florida. The stay was great and short lived. The bed was comfortable and clean room.

Can't say that I didn't like anything

Comfy pillows and bed, black out shades, Dove bath products, and black out shades. Coffee was good too. Nice variety of breakfast items.

Walls thin. Faucet hard to reach without getting wet.
