Best onsen experience of a life time! We travel quite a bit and this exceeded all expectations. Ask for Yamadasan and/or Kibesan. Rooms are spacious, amenities over and above and the Kaiseki is from local specialities and if I could give this a higher rating I would! Food, Service, Staff, cleanliness all an A+
All great

The premises was beautiful (we looked outside at a zen garden) and we really enjoyed all the amenities. The staff was simply wonderful. Suzuki-san was super attentive and made sure we had what we need. The manager Yahata-san was a simply lovely and gave us the option for a free upgrade because of some weather event that led to cancellations. The chef Nakano-san made us two lovely meals and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Yahata-san waited outside Shuzenji to take us to the train station at a specific time, which we really appreciated. Everything was the very definition of Japanese hospitality. High recommend to anyone who wants to just relax and be taken care of at a wonderful Ryokan.

5-star experience with excellent food, amazing environment and impeccable service. The hotel offered complimentary pick up from the train station. They also kindly catered to my vegetarian request for dinner and breakfast. The 'room' is so spacious that it's basically a house. All amenities are provided and we particularly love the garden view. All the staff are very kind and attentive. We have no problem with communication with their translation app. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night and it was the best experience of our entire trip in Japan! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a high quality experience and hospitality. Before our arrival, the communication to navigate to the town was already very helpful. When we finally arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and even gave us the option to pick between two different rooms. Aside from the beautiful room we had - surrounded by a Japanese garden and the spacious onsen - we were stunned by the included dinner and breakfast. The craftsmanship, attention to detail and flavor from the multiple course dinner was just incredible! It was a culinary experience that exceeded our expectations. The day of our departure, the manager of the hotel was so kind to give us a tour in the area. We were very moved by the hospitality and the time he spent to show us around. Thank you to the manager, chef Nakano and staff for such a beautiful experience. We plan to come back again one day.

This will be the easiest review I'll ever write as the experience was truly flawless and made so memorable by the team there. The staff were incredibly thoughtful; once they found out it was my husband's birthday, they not only gave us the option to upgrade our room at no extra expense, but they placed flowers and a handwritten card in the living room, gave us a birthday cake after dinner and offered us a complimentary drink of our choice. We felt so showered with love, they really went above and beyond! The hotel manager very kindly picked us up from the train station, and we could communicate through Google Translate during the short ride. They also had staff that spoke mandarin which was helpful. The room was spacious with modern touches and had a stunning garden view. The private onsen made the stay relaxing and came with high-end toiletries. Plus, the fridge was filled with different complimentary drinks like beer, tea and soda. We were happy to be provided with all the traditional loungewear that could be worn to the restaurant after a good day of soaking - plus the little guide which teaches you how to tie it properly. As someone who loves to sleep in total darkness, I really appreciated that the room had great blackout curtains and none of those annoying little flashing lights from the smoke detector, TV or aircon. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were by far the best food we had during our entire trip (including previous trips to Japan!) Not only was every dish meticulously plated, but every bite was heavenly; it could have been Michelin-star dining. We were more than satisfied with the portions; they even wrapped some leftovers into rice balls for us to enjoy later. Last but not least, I must commend the staff because we also left our disposable camera upon departure, and they kindly shipped it to our next hotel at no extra fee. This level of customer service is unmatched and made our stay worth every penny.

When we arrived we were welcomed with matcha tea and a traditional desert which were refreshing after a very long journey. The room was outstanding, exactly like in the pictures, loved the traditional Japanese style. In the room we had everything we needed from toiletries to coffee maker. The room was clean, had AC in case we were cold, the bed was comfy and it had a view to the garden. The Ryokan was quiet, perfect for a few days of relaxation. We especially loved the yukatas. The view to the central garden was everything we had hoped for. The main star for us was the private onsen which was accessible directly from the shower. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were amazing. The staff even adapted the menu to our dietary needs, for example we couldn't eat raw fish and they were happy to change some of the ingredients. The restaurant is cozy and elegant and all the tables have privacy. The staff was kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. The neighborhood was quiet, clean. There are several hikes you can take in the nearby woods. From some of them you can even see Mount Fuji. A true Ryokan experience.

I can't give enough compliments to the staff of this location. They were all super friendly and helpful to a group of Americans that spoke super broken Japanese. On both nights, the crew went above and beyond to call over the course of several hours in order to get us reservations in town. They really worked very hard to take care of us. I love the in-room onsens. They have a window that let's in air from the outside, and a shower attached so you don't get in dirty and you can get some nice relaxation time. I was skeptical at first because this was the most expensive leg of our trip, but it was worth every penny.
There is nothing I didn't like about this facility. Westerners will likely find it difficult to use a mattress on the ground like we did at first, and it takes a while to find the Air Conditioner. You may also not be able to adjust the heat in the Onsens. Some did, some didn't.

This place is spectacular and it’s the second time we booked. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese inn/hotel this is the place to stay!! I would recommend this to anyone, it is by far the best place we stayed in Japan! I would like to make a special mention to Koike Takahiro who looked after us! He was the most fantastic host and staff member, he did so much to help us and make our stay amazing, he was just incredible! Don’t hesitate to book this place you won’t be disappointed it’s is phenomenal!
It was all fantastic, there was nothing to not like!

The property was clean, beautiful and the onsen was really relaxing. Everything was very well kept and breakfast was delicious. Staff, despite having limited English were great at still managing to communicate with us properly by other means, and were really friendly. One man even gave us a list of recommended restaurants around the area when dinner was not available for our particular booking :)
It is quite the uphill walk from the main attractions like the temple and bamboo forest but if you are keen on having a nice refreshing walk it should not be a problem as it was not for us.
