The Olive Branch was a great find on our road trip down the Devon coast to Cornwall. Our host Jo was so welcoming and provides everything you could ask for to make a perfect stay. The location is in the perfect spot to enjoy walks to the harbour and promenade as well as the local pubs and restaurants. Our room was spacious very clean, and the decor was very inviting. I loved the comfy seat at the window that offers a view to the sea, but my favourite was definitely bath tub that sits on a platform in the room. Breakfast was excellent, we had a choice of a cook to order hot dish which is served with buffet style continental options. Jo took the time to chat and gave us lots of tips for exploring Ilfracombe and the surrounding areas which was very helpful to two Australians who had not been in the area before . Central location, very cosy and nice rooms. Great breakfast too. Very nice atmosphere with lovely hosts. I generally agree with the prior reviews. I recommend the place however please read the negatives for a full picture.

I realised days after paying that the price I paid was higher than what was being offered on Booking.com. While it wasn't a huge sum, it's the kind of thing that leaves you with a negative impression. I should've picked up on that on the spot though. Booking.com also advertised parking, but there is no parking at the hotel itself. You'll have to find a spot at the quay lot, which is obv a roll of dice in terms of parking spots + peak season charging run all the way from 8 in the morning until 8 at night.

The guest house is a Georgian town house with four floors. Our room was on the second floor, very spacious with a beautiful bow window looking out onto the hill and the sea - binoculars were thoughtfully provided. Another very thoughtful touch was to find two wine glasses and a fridge in the wardrobe, so that guests can drink their own wine nice and chilled. The bed was huge and very comfortable with excellent quality bed linen; the bathroom with window facing the harbour had a good shower and a bath with jets. Everything was super-clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and the sharing platters offered in the evenings were superb - we would’ve had more of these if we could but they were booked up. Would definitely stay here again. Everyone was very kind and friendly.

There’s no parking so you have to get a ticket to park in the Ropery car park at the bottom of the hill - it costs £47.50 for a week - but this is standard if you want to stay in the centre of Ilfracombe.

What a fabulous B&B! The staff were delightful, and nothing was too much trouble. The location couldn’t be better, right in the middle of everything, but still peaceful. The place was spotlessly clean and the decor was beautiful, especially in the breakfast/bar area. Jo and Ian’s attention to detail in every regard was superb and the breakfasts were outstanding, with quality ingredients. Would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to anyone.

The cost of the local car parks but there’s not an awful lot that can be done about that I guess. Although I would recommend that you search out the best ones as they do vary quite considerably in price.

We could not have asked for more. The owners are very friendly, the room vast, extremely well equipped, clean and super-comfy. The breakfast was also superb, and lots of nice veggie and vegan options. Again, the staff super helpful and friendly. The location is extremely convenient. That does mean parking nearby is not as straightforward as if further out, but we had no problem at all finding short-stop and off-peak spaces very close to the Olive Branch. We would definitely recommend here if looking for a luxury B&B.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The room, albeit a small single, was clean, comfortable and included everything I would have needed. The bed was super comfortable. The shower was a delight. The view from the window was across to the local church. Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety and freshly cooked food. The hotel was located 5 minutes walk in one direction to the high street and shops, and also 5 minutes in the opposite direction to the harbour and seafront.

Unfortunately there is no parking on site, so you need to park in the local public car park and pay. But the nearest one was only 2 minutes walk.

the bedroom was amazing with three different views of ilfracombe - all splendidly composed in the windows. the bed and mattress were really good too. the breakfast and food in the bistro were excellent they were very flexible about evening meal as I am vegetarian and my wife didnt want much!

the bathroom and shower could be improved. there is a need for a non slip mat to fit into the bath when having shower. or a handle or bar to hold onto when getting in and out of the bath. otherwise it was great.

The room was very charming. The bathroom was small, but immaculate. I loved the view. The armchair was also especially comfortable. If I had had more time to spend in the room, that would have been a great place to relax and read. Unfortunately, my stay was too short to lounge, but I'd love to go back to Ilfracombe and would definitely stay at the Olive Branch again. Plus breakfast was wonderful! And the staff served us early so we could make the ferry to Lundy. So, thank you!

The stairs were a little tricky with a heavy suitcase, but that was my own fault and the host helped carry it which was above and beyond!

Fabulous accommodation, rooms were really comfortable, very clean, breakfast was super, all very tasty and high quality. Location was perfect even had a sea view and the harbour. Highly recommend.

Would’ve preferred a shower rather than a bath, the bath was a lovely one but I had a injury to my coccyx so getting in and out of it wasn’t easy also really conscious about washing my hair with the hand shower as it was difficult trying not to get any water on the floor.

The great welcome, friendly atmosphere, helpfulness of owners and staff, delicious choices at breakfast, comfortable room with great facilities and views. Great location close to harbour, coastal path, restaurants, High Street. Parking was easy at the Ropery Car Park just a couple of minutes walk from the guest house.

I found nothing to dislike. It was an excellent place to stay in an interesting old part of town.
