Exceptional staff that pays attention to detail. I stayed for 6 nights as a single traveller wanting to be close to town and the lush jungle, and secluded enough from town for some R&R. Terrazas del Caribe was perfect. A 600m walk down a gravel road gets you to Cochles beach and to nearby food. However, I purchased the all-inclusive, which included my meals and drinks. Every meal, from a buffet breakfast spread to appetizers, and mouth-watering dinner and desserts, were phenomenal. Compliments to Kimberley and George. And, oh that amazing Costa Rican coffee. It was well worth it. For the bar, more juice and less ice in drinks would be icing on the cake.Try the sangria! The jungle surrounds the complex, and howler monkeys can be heard nearby. Rooms are exceptionally clean and have all you need. The grounds are well-manicured and lush. Donal and Rafael were like my long-lost relatives and made my stay extra special. Thank you! If you're looking for an intimate setting with amazing hospitality and food, this is the place to stay.

I don’t understand the bed reviews on this hotel. The rooms are very spacious even the ones for 2 people. Bees are very comfortable and there’s good AC in all rooms. Staff keeps the place clean and safe. The food at the restaurant is quite pricy, but no different than any other hotel. You can always have the choice to walk outside and choose from a plethora of restaurants with a huge price range in between them. Now, the food at the restaurant is actually pretty good, it just takes a while to get it. The front desk staff was super helpful and friendly, everyone speaks English if needed. Koodos to Donald who was extremely helpful to me and my family during our 3 day stay. He was always around assisting us and making sure we were comfortable and happy. All in all a great place to stay. Safe parking and great location, about 10 minutes from the beach and main restaurants. Additionally, the staff is super helpful, attentive and concerned for the guests’ wellbeing and safety. During our stay, a member of our group lost his fanny pack with all his documents, the staff moved really fast to check cameras and locate the whereabouts of his bag. Someone unrelated to the hotel has taken it and they could see it in the cameras on time to recover the Fanny pack. We were super relieved and made us value even more our stay. Thank you.
May seem short staffed at times.

Loved this hotel! The staff and facilities are incredible. So clean and spacious. Great value for money. Lovely restaurants close by. Supermarket 10-15 min walk away. One staff member saw us hang out our wet clothes and bought us a laundry rack without asking which was lovely. The breakfast is incredible. We stayed for two night and had the al a carte for one morning, and a buffet for the other. Al a carte menu was extensive and the breakfast was huge - eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, french toast, waffles etc. The buffet was good too - eggs lots of different ways, pancakes, chorizo in a tomato sauce, cheese, cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, pastries, tea and coffee and juice all included. I have deducted one point based on the location - it’s 5 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes back from the beach as it’s a slight incline. But it’s not a bad walk at all and very manageable. And they said the water is not drinkable and only provided a small water bottle (500ml) on arrival but nothing else included. You would have to buy it. It would be good if water was included - like a water dispenser for guests. Other than those points it was amazing.

1. Delicious food. First day I had breakfast from the regular menu, the quality was just fantastic, fresh ingredients. Second day I had a yummy pizza and third day a nice buffet breakfast with a great variety of food. 2. Super clean and spacious rooms with all you need to be comfortable during your stay. 3. Personnel was always attentive and nice to us, they let us stay at the pool cause we arrived too early to check in.
1. Cheaper rooms at the backside of the property are pretty dark, this was weird but I had read in a previous review this could happen so I was fine with it especially cause I wasn’t gonna spend a lot of time inside it during the day, but this might be a great inconvenient for some guests- just to let them know. 2. Time is not a thing around Puerto Viejo and this hotel is not the exception. It’s quite normal that check in time is delayed by some minutes (about 20) or that breakfast is delayed by almost half an hour when they have to set up the buffet. This is not an issue if you are not really an early bird but it could mean you might need to skip breakfast if you are checking out before 8 am to take a ride somewhere.

Amazing place and surroundings with nice staff and good food and drinks - though a bit pricy.
Tap water is not drinkable, they provide 0.5 l for free, and offers a big bottle for 10$ - though it is also really expensive in the shop. You also need a good (preferably 4x4) car to approach the place - not walking distance from the beach, but by car it is easy to manage. When there is no full house, breakfast is nit buffet, hence rather limited.

The people and stuff are really super nice! But for the price, I expected to have coffee and drinking water in the room. Water wasn't available also along the public areas of the hotel. Breakfast was always the same and not very rich. Coffee was served by waiters only. We asked for double bed and got twin bed connected together. We asked for a birthday cake and got a really nice and super cool performance by the stuff! Thank you!

Everything was absolutely amazing! The staff upgraded my room for free, which was a really nice surprise. The food at the restaurant was delicious, which is rare to find in Costa Rica. Even when my bank mistakenly blocked my card, the staff was really understanding and waited a whole day while I sorted out my card issue.
The nighttime walk from the hotel to the beach is poorly lit, making it somewhat unpleasant. However, this is an issue with the path itself, not the hotel.

Beautiful property, well manicured landscaping with yellow butterflies flying about the flowers around the pool. My room was at the back of the property facing the mountains. When I turned on my bathroom light a howler monkey would make their deep guttural sound which I thought was pretty cool. My last day there I was able to spot the howler monkeys playing in the trees. The staff was very kind, attentive and helpful. I plan to return with my family since it is also a great place for families and in perfect proximity to Playa Cocles.

everything! perfect location, staff were lovely especially Diego. They were very accommodating of us as we were travelling with small children and had issues with our flights. The pool was lovely, the apartment was lovely. Wow definitely visit again.
Our only negative was the breakfast. we only had it once and it was not worth the cost. But it wasn’t that much of an issue because we made breakfast in our apartment the rest of the days and the kitchen was well equipped.

This was our first time to the Caribbean side of Cost Rica, and compared to the other properties that I researched in the area, this one was by far the best value in my opinion. The property is just a short drive south of town. It's a wonderfully designed compound of spacious two story villas that are fully equipped apartment type units surrounding a beautiful and very well maintained pool and garden area, with a well staffed poolside bar and restaurant, which prepare outstanding drinks and local food for reasonable prices. They even brought us our first class breakfast every morning to eat on the balcony (the breakfast was extra but reasonably priced and well worth it). The rooms are new and fresh feeling and very well maintained. The rooms have balconies with a spacious sitting area to relax and enjoy a drink, and a hammock (our room was on the second floor, which had a wonderful view of the pool and the surrounding jungle area). We could hear howler monkeys every morning from our room, which was so much fun. Although this is not a beach front property, it more than makes up for it on the setting and the layout and the privacy. You can easily go into Puerto Viejo and walk around and experience the lively town, go to any of the nearby beaches, and then retreat to your relaxing villa here. One of the highlights of our trip was the staff here. I can't say enough positive things about the outstanding service and friendliness of the staff here on every level. They graciously spent a lot of time helping us plan our daily activities, and anytime we needed anything, they went out of their way to help us. I travel frequently, and I've stayed at many other places all over costa rica, and I give this property my highest rating overall for the total package of the accommodations, setting, food, drinks, and especially the staff here.
