Its very well located in the middle of little Samedan, with walking distance from the train station and the main streets of the old city. Also appreciated how friendly everyone at the hotel was, specially to my parents who could speak no local language or English. The hotel has free parking, which is quite convenient. Lastly, the room we were in was simple but very comfortable, with enough space for us and the dog, good storage, spacious bathroom with amenities. In all, a good place to stay and explore the Engadin.

From start to finish, everything about our experience at this hotel was outstanding. The reception team set the tone from the moment we arrived — incredibly professional, genuinely courteous, helpful, and a real pleasure to interact with. While the property itself has historic charm (as the name suggests), it’s immaculately maintained. You can feel the pride and respect that the staff have for both their work and their guests — it brings the whole place to life in a unique way. Our room (an executive suite) was spotless, spacious, and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. We were even welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine from the hotel director — a thoughtful touch that made us feel truly valued. Breakfast was generous and satisfying, and having convenient parking right at the hotel entrance was a big plus. A special mention must go to Vironica — the extraordinary woman who manages the restaurants. Her warmth, energy, and top-tier service elevated our entire experience. She brought a personal touch to every meal, and her joyful presence made each interaction a delight. The pizza we had at the hotel’s pizzeria? Quite possibly the best we’ve ever tasted — absolutely unforgettable. The location couldn’t be more perfect — just a 6-minute drive to St. Moritz, surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, lakes, and postcard-worthy views in every direction. Hotel Bernina isn’t just a place to stay — it’s the reason we’ll be coming back to this region again, perhaps in the winter next time. A truly special experience.

We were extremely lucky as we were upgraded to the most incredible suite - the staff was wonderful, they were friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. We were also super lucky to have a half board booking and dinner was incredible - the options were wonderful! Breakfast was also perfect - and the room it is served in is just simply lovely. All in it was a very memorable stay and I can’t wait to go back! Already booking my next visit. Also the price was really reasonable!

Within walking distance of the train station, Hotel Bernina 1865 is a beautiful building with lovely views. The room was clean and had a spacious bathroom. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The included breakfast buffet was delicious with many food choices and the breakfast room is simply stunning. We had dinner on the last night of our stay in the Pizzeria Bernina Restaurant that is part of the hotel. Veronica, one of the people who helped us at the restaurant was lively and quirky, bringing us olives she had made with herbs and oranges - delicious! The pizza was superb, as was the panna cotta.

The only drawback was the beds were extremely firm, almost hard.

The staff at reception were fantastic. I asked if there was a room available with a balcony and the gentleman obliged!!! It was amazing to sit out in the evening and watch the sun light lower on the mountains and the moon rise. Also we advised ahead of time about requiring gluten free options for my wife for breakfast. They responded immediately and advised the kitchen. There was.plant based milk (Soja) at breakfast, plenty of fruit, nuts and seeds. They had gluten free Brötchen for my wife and gluten free muesli! Hotel was.really dated but that was nice and interesting. Cool old photos on the walls. Definitely would stay again.

Bathroom facilities are rather old-fashioned. Some may call them nostalgic — I prefer modern facilities.

We were scheduled to leave early and explained we would not be there for breakfast. The lady checking us I immediately offered to have a “to go” breakfast waiting for us on the front desk when we left in the am! And there it was —just before 7 am! So thoughtful. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner in the main dining room. It is a gorgeous venue and our waitress and the manager, Elsa, were delightful! The food was excellent, as was the service.

It’s a beautiful historic hotel and there was nothing we didn’t like. I would love to return for a longer stay! Also the bathroom was delightful. Loved the fixtures and the amenities.

This has to be one of our best experiences to date. Everything from the dinner restaurant that they kept open for us since we were arriving late last night, to the beautiful rooms and views, to our delicious breakfast and the best service from Danielle at the restaurants and Giro at the reception. Can't wait to be back with our parents, an absolute delight. Only one regret, we wished we stayed longer!

Great location! Near train station and bus stops just outside the hotel. Great launching point to St Moritz and in between locations. The staff are really friendly and helpful and you could feel the history behind the hotel when you approach it and especially so when you're in it. The many photos around the hotel's common areas will give you a sense of where you are and what it was in the early years when the hotel was built. Great history. Location was perfect for us as it was quiet and wasn't touristy when we were there just before mid-Jan 2024. Our room was large and spacious and wifey really loved the ambiance of it. Breakfast offerings were great, with hot and cold offerings, and especially liked the wide selection of breads. Special thanks to Daniel who was on shift for the 3 breakfasts when we were there; he really made us feel as if we were at home. Definitely will come back to stay here if we have a chance to!!

The hotel is on a higher elevation than the train station where we came into Samedan on the Glacier Express. We had 2 large heavy luggages and other small backpack and bags, so although the hotel is just a short walk from the train station, we had to take a taxi to the hotel when we came in, and back to the train station when we where heading back to Zurich. Good thing is that taxis are readily available at the train station and also with advance bookings.

The breakfast room is very beautiful.
