Special shout out to Monse the receptionist who was very helpful. Great location. Rooms good and comfortable. Cleaning of rooms very good. Breakfasts excellent. Lovely courtyard.

Problem with hot water in shower/getting any/getting right temperature when did come through - but appreciate heating via solar panels so more difficult. Problem with toilet - not working at all on final day. A shame not a bar/lounge in the hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Trébol right next to the Mercado Benito Juárez Market for a week. The location was great, a block away from the zocalo - Plaza de la Constitution, lower priced at $100/night, and they had a nice breakfast with fruit, bread, and a choice of three different breakfast entrees each day - think chilaquiles with something, eggs and meat, and a quesadilla-like dish. The guests were an about equal mix of foreign and Spanish-speaking guests. .We walked up to Plaza Santo Domingo multiple times for El Jardin Etnobotaico De Oaxaca, Luca Libra, and free walking tours. Each of those days the total walk was 3-4 miles.

The downside is its layout is what I think of as a traditional small hotel, with rooms around two courtyards, and tile or concrete outside the rooms - this type of layout is very loud due to noise from both staff and guests.

We loved the kitchen and maintenance staff. The ladies who prepared fresh breakfast everyday were outstanding. Friendly, cordial and just awesome. The guys who did maintenance also went above and beyond doing their thing.

The reception staff are not too welcoming. The woman in charge of providing information on tours was bitter. One day I asked about their tours and she never called back to provide information. All reception staff could benefit from a class or two on welcoming guests.

This relatively small , charming hotel is located in the heart of Oaxaca city within blocks of all of the central attractions. Our room was spacious with new bathroom facilities. Everything was spotlessly clean, and our king size bed very comfortable. We enjoyed a very good full breakfast each morning, and the fresh fruit, tea, coffee and water available all day. There are lovely common areas to sit in the hotel, and though located centrally, noise was not a problem. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. It was a lovely spot to call ‘home’ while we visited the beautiful city.

There was nothing we did not like but would only add that it would be nice to have a small fridge in the room.

Wonderful location! We walked all around the city and still concluded that this was the ideal location. They also had a free breakfast. Not like buffets you see in other places, but a full-fledged kitchen with a different menu every day. The food was as good as any restaurant you could find for breakfast. The staff was fantastic, from the front desk, to the ones cleaning our room. Everyone worked very hard to make our stay exceptional. Large room for breakfast, and a lovely small courtyard where you can also have breakfast served or just lounge.

Not enough space to use for clothes. One of us had to live out of a suitcase.

Loaction is just A+. All the famous/major "mercados" are literally walking distance. Taxis are parked 24h right in front of the Hotel. Could walk to the famous church Santo Domingo, and different plazas they have in Oaxaca.

Well, their "hot" water is solar powered and you have to run the water until it gets warm/hot (they even give you printed instructions on how to do so). Couple of times the water just did NOT get warm/hot :) , cold shower it was. But, I still recommend the hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu changed every morning and was good. A Mayorodomo chocolate shop is in the same building -- nice to grab a hot chocolate and a concha. Across the street is an ice cream parlour and a mercado. A great location.

The wifi was a little spotty in the bedroom and it could be challenging to moderate the temperature in the shower but for me they were really minor inconveniences.

We really enjoyed staying here. The rooms are quite comfortable, the AC is very quiet. Yes, the noise to the courtyard is a little loud but it’s quiet at night and hearing birds sing in the morning is nice. The rooms are cleaned everyday, fresh towels and linens. The breakfast is a great addition and was different every day. The staff is attentive and nice. Room was spacious. The location was fantastic, easy walking to everywhere. Highly recommend.

Staff was very friendly and helpful helping arrange taxis for airport and day trips. Breakfast was beyond fabulous and again, staff was very friendly. Quality food with different options each day. We didn't have a meal we didn't thoroughly enjoy. Nice courtyard and seating in lobby. Beds were comfortable. Location was excellent. Very pleased with this hotel.

If your room faces the courtyard, sound travels and guests hanging out in the courtyard can be loud. As others noted, the shower can be tricky to get a consistent water temperature, but not a big deal. But neither of these are deal breakers.

The location was terrific, close to local markets and the zocalo. The breakfasts were great, with a different hot menu every day. Staff were consistenly pleasant and helpful. Bottled drinking water was provided in the room every day. A/C was effective and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable.

I would recommend this hotel without reservation; any concerns were minor and did not affect the enjoyment of my stay. Still, I would have appreciated a place to hang clothes
