The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were mostly quite young, they were keen to serve well and each had their own style. Our room was well appointed and we had a wonderful view. It is very well placed for taking a stroll in the local park and gardens.

The hotel is a converted house with attendant quirks, which is good, but the bedroom walls are quite thin and the floorboards really squeaky. Sometimes I thought the people in the room upstairs were about to join us. The people in an adjacent room to ours got up loudly every morning between 5 and 6am, waking us far too early - it was our holiday! We had booked a parking place for 3 out of 4 nights of our stay but were unable to make use of the space as there was never one available to us. The receptionist happily sorted a refund for us. It was not really a problem as our stay was in June but if it had been in high season parking may have been quite a distance away.

This is a really good hotel decor crisp and clean tasteful.Room no8 we stayed in was adder quite for a couple of nights it was nicely decorated and immaculately clean comfortable pillows and bed with crisp white linen. The staff were really good and impressed with how they made our stay with the hotel memorable could not ask for better.

Smell of fish in the restaurant area’s also I know it’s a old building but there’s a issue with creaking floor boards had been woken up a thew times because of this.

Friendly staff, location was good and the breakfast was a good selection.

In relation to car parking: we were only informed on arrival that we needed to reserve parking. While I understand that spaces were limited - there was no mention of this at the time I reserved the room and staff on this day informed us that it was the fault of Booking.com that this information was withheld. But their own confirmation email did not indicate anything about reservation of parking spaces. This was an inconvenience, to say the least - as I have mobility issues.

The rooms were excellent and very clean. The bathroom was beautiful, a bath and shower with rainfall head and hand held.

We purposely booked a room with a balcony/sea view for a treat for my 82 year old friend. However, the decking and wall were peeling, green, weedy. No seat cushions either. They def needed some tlc so not pleasant to sit out on. The new bath looks beautiful but unless you are over 5’5” and agile, it’s not easy to get in and out of.

wonder place to stay with the family and very accommodating with our daughter who is coeliac. The food was delicious and the bar man made some mean cocktails. the rooms were very clean, comfy and spacious

It's a lovely traditional hotel but with all the mod cons. The room I had was a sea view room which was superb. There is an outside area for tea, coffee and snacks, plenty of lounge space and a delicious breakfast.

The only thing that would top it off would be a little fridge in the bedroom and a 'do not disturb' sign for the door so housekeeping knows you are still in.

we started in reception where the lovely staff staff member welcomed us and said we could check in even though we were quite early . we then went into the bar where a delightful lady sorted out our drinks . The whole hotel has some really lovely features and is clean, warm and friendly. We ate in the beautifully decorated restaurant in the evening and the food was first class . All the restaurant staff were friendly and casually chatty . Breakfast was cooked beautifully with lots of choice. I would say this is my favourite hotel in the Uk

Very attractive, elegant hotel with excellent food. The service was second to none as the staff were welcoming and friendly but unobtrusive. It was our first visit but many guests had returned again and again.

Many of the rooms had been refurbished recently and there were one or two minor issues with missing items in the bathroom, for example, but nothing that couldn't be fixed quickly and easily. It was encouraging to find that our comments were greeted in a positive way and, in some cases, acted upon before we left. The quality of the refurbishment, otherwise, was excellent.

it was beautifully situated with wonderful sea views snd gardens. Everything was walking distance.

we had no hot water in the evening or morning.. I was with my elderly mum and 2 year old grandson apparently there was a boiler issue which the manager dean thought he had sorted but hadn’t issue with upstairs rooms which had an overflow problem where water was running outside all night myself mum and daughter had no sleep … the staff were very apologetic and informed us they were waiting for boiler parts on checking out I was informed the manager dean would ring me but has not
