We a were delighted to find this property on our latest trip to Mt Hutt. The hotel is situated in the centre on Methven just a short walk from the local pubs, restaurants and hot pools. Room was large enough for a family of 4 with daily room service, tea, coffee facilities and toiletries. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. The centre are with kids area, pool table and fireplace was lovely to replay and the kids could meet friends. The food served in the bar was excellent. It was great value for money.

Spacious room. Cleaness. Ease of checking in after hours. Quiet rural setting on the outskirts of town, yet a very easy and short walk to centre of Methven. Interesting architectural elements inside and out. Nice views from the breakfast lounge. Very friendly day staff work in this hotel. Easy to walk to many lovely pubs in Methven from the hotel Discovered a charming fairy walk by the racecourse. The hot mineral water spa complex in Methven is a relaxing pleasure to enjoy. Liked that it's not overcrowded due to their booking schedules and observed occupancy limits . Some unusual curiosity shops and cafes in town Came across many helpful and welcoming business owners in this town, including the staff at the hotel. Late Summer season has already an off season vibe but enjoyed that the town was not run over. Good idea to have historic plaques with a bit of history on many of the buildings and their original purpose when newly built.

Fittings in room feel somewhat cheap, esp the kitchenette area, but on the plus side all was very clean. Can hear people talking from a room above us. Luckily that was in the morning and not at night. Seems as if the resort development was halted prematurely, so no pool yet or it was filled in. Unfortunately not the most inspiring view to the side parking lot and kegs from the restaurant from our room, but that was a same day reservation when we booked. It's possible that all better positioned rooms were already taken.

Everything was perfect! Richard was an awesome host - opened the bar and lit the fire so our friends and ourselves could enjoy pre-pool drinks, even going as far to drop us off and pick us up. Rooms were a great size, bed comfortable - had everything a guest would need, even upgraded our friends so they could stay a couple of doors down. Dinner was fabulous, as was the continental breakfast, the staff were top notch and friendly. The hotel is tired in places however it can clearly be seen it is being upgraded, but this doesn't impact one's stay. Thanks so much Richard and team for a fabulous stay - we will definitely be back.

Nothing not to like.

Great location, good convenient breakfast, heater available in room for cold weather, lots of parking. The Indian guy taking care of breakfast was amazing, alone took care of everything and politely greeted everyone and was always checking on everyone. He was simply the best customer service we received on our trip.

As it’s old, there is no sound proof. It just took one stupid family to come back at 10:30pm to ruin the sleep for the whole floor. Not the hotels fault though if people do not have brains themselves.

Perfect weekend ski retreat, warm welcome at reception on arrival . Spacious third floor studio room and a bath. We had a roast meal in the restaurant which had couches.by the fire and later had skiers winding down after an epic day on 83cm fresh snow. I loved the room plenty of space and warm . Wandering down town to Opuke hot spring in the evening. Complementary breakfast offered from 7.15am makes it good value for luxury feel.plenty of free parking , I caught a bus from door to Mt Hutt.

Bed was good but I was restless. Watch your head on edges of ceiling .by bed . The bar / restaurant is really big and a pretty cool design with different seating areas and I imagine it as the event venue it is , imagined the space as a big wedding reception with a band, wrap around internal balcony overlooking a generous dance floor. Could easily hold 100+ people - so it was warm but not ‘ intimate cosy’ space due to size. It does have couches by the fire.

Close to city and facilities. Beautiful restaurant. It was closed the day we went. But nice atmosphere and large dining area. Has pool too . Didn’t know there was free continental breakfast included in the price which was a bonus

Nothing in particular . Maybe could add sky tv or Netflix . TVs need an upgrade . Hope they will do a good refurbishment and give a good look to the rooms . Still it is great as it is. Hoping for the facelift in future

Room amazing good value for money. Bed very very comfortable water outside door.close to hotpools shops etc...parking had a bath 🛁 quiet. Food delicious and ate in room .

Noise from guests in room above had tv on til 2am + fridge was wonky doors noisy banged shut. Curtain didn't cover window needed to be wider. No mini bar I would like to be recommended the quieter rooms available when I book . Need to change advertising as showed swimming pool which you no longer have

It’s a very affordable option between some popular places. We were so fortunate to find something like this last minute. During January, the town felt like a ghost town but we used this as our base to enjoy Lake Tekapo for a day and then head up through Arthur’s Pass the next day. Breakfast and laundry facilities were an added bonus. There are a few restaurants in town and beds were comfortable, plus the room had a heater, so all of our needs were met!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The bar was really great and they put the A League Women's football on for us. The polenta fries and guacamole were superb. Our room was very comfortable and the bath was great . We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.

We would have liked knives, forks, and plates in our room as we brought cheese, salami, olives, and crackers with us. I went down to the bar and asked for some.

Very friendly receptionist and very clean room and the light Continental breakfast was a nice touch. Man doing tables in restaurant for breakfast was super friendly. Beautiful views from dining room and restaurant. Great location and very walkable into town. Room was lovely and warm with nice linens.

Hotel is worn and dated and in need of renovations but it was still perfectly serviceable.
