This is a resort which is family run to the highest international standards. The combination of twenty years of incremental improvements and investment in the gardens, rooms and infrastructure give a sense of it having been nurtured into what it now is. A beautiful series of villas, lovely mature gardens, and an outstanding restaurant. The staff are local and lend the whole outfit a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Two years ago a twenty metre infinity pool was added which is great for lengths. There is a separate jacuzzi pool attached. They close every September for six weeks of maintenance. And it shows. We were in their earliest villa but the wooden teak floors inside had been freshly varnished and the shower area (which is in a little outside garden of its own) freshly painted. New shower curtains etc. Likewise all other facilities had been refreshed.

I tend not to believe the ratings of places when they're this high... but this one deserves it, and more. The place is just stunning - located on a very small hill that looks on the sea, in a beautiful park with coconut trees, flower and plants of all kinds, perfectly tended to. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful, with lots of options. The bungalow was huge, and in perfect state. Bed is super comfortable. There's both AC and a fan. Lots of space to store your clothes and stuff, and a small fridge. Water and soft drinks are provided and replenished every day. You can also get water for free from the 2 bars next to the small beaches they have. Swimming pool is stunning and well kept, like everything else in this small piece of heaven. There's a bar close to it with lovely little wooden platforms on top of the shore, where you can enjoy a cocktail and look at the sunset (sunsets are stunning there!) Shantaa is just the ultimate place if you're looking for somewhere you can disconnect and relax. They could have built twice or thrice as much as they have, but they kept it sparsely developed so you feel you're walking around in your own personal tropical paradise. Let me state it again - this place is perfection. If you had any doubts about your stay in Koh Kood, I hope I cleared them out :) just book here and you won't be disappointed. We have seen pretty much all of the island by motorbike and we looked at the resorts, there's nothing that compares to Shantaa quality wise on the island.

Don't think about it any longer! This is the place to stay on the island. The cottages are spotless, modern, super clean, perfectly designed, and so comfortable. The bed was wonderful. Linens fresh and clean every day. There's a Hartman Cardon portable speaker to play your music bwhile chilling on your terrace with ocean view or getting a shower in the beautiful outdoor bathroom. Cleaning service was discreet and spotless. Pool area is wonderful, in front of the sea with great sun beds. The gardens with the tall palm trees and the frangipani are a piece of art. The breakfast, the restaurant and the Cafe are superb! Even if you stay for a long time you have so many high quality, tasty, elegant, versatile options. You don't need to get out of the resort to eat. Prices are extremely fair. They offer a great and fair laundry service. Scooter rental at the hotel is possible: again, fair prices and fantastic Scooters. Staff in the restaurant, reception, and in general is welcoming, very nice and professional. The only criticism we could make is that they don't have a beach directly at the hotel premises, but if you walk 200 mts, you'll get to a very nice one, with the mostly beautiful sunsets ever. JUST GO, YOU'LL LOVE IT! PS: We changed to another five star hotel to have some variety and since minute one, we are regretting this decision. Unfortunately we couldn't get back to Shantaa as it was fully booked

We had a wonderful 10-night stay at Shantaa with our two young children, and it was one of the most peaceful and thoughtfully managed resorts we’ve visited in Thailand. What truly stood out was the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, especially Kai, who went above and beyond to support us throughout our stay. Whether it was arranging transportation, assisting with small family logistics, or simply being present with kindness and patience ; her help made a real difference. The villas are spacious, quiet, and surrounded by nature. Everything is designed for relaxation and simplicity, and the atmosphere is perfect for families looking to disconnect and recharge. A heartfelt thank you to the whole Shantaa team ; and especially to Kai, for your dedication and genuine care.

We were a bit disappointed to be charged a daily fee for the baby cot, especially considering we stayed 10 nights and had already spent quite a bit overall. It’s clearly mentioned in the conditions (which we saw afterward), but it still feels a bit off ; not because of the amount, but the principle. A small gesture would have gone a long way.

- Gorgeous and well kept property. - Food in the restaurant is absolutely amazing so you never would need to think of going elsewhere even if it's pricier than Thai norm - Breakfast was brilliant and bountiful - Some staff were very friendly - Useful moped rental to take day trips on the island (well worth it!) - Romantic setting and nicely decorated rooms and bathrooms - Lovely pool setting and a large perfectly fine beach nearby.

- Didn't get any information before coming on how to get there. You should prebook from the airport to Koh Kood avoid having to pay hefty transfer fees - 10% service charge on all items. Would prefer to offer tips for good service, as some service was not great.

The staff were amazing, everyone was super helpful and friendly. Especially the owner, she was always smiling and made time to talk to us. The restaurant food was also the highlight of our trip, my friends and I ordered majority of their tasty and expansive menu. Cats! They were everywhere, very friendly and cute. The hotel seems to have adopted a few strays that made the resort their home. NB: They had the best mango sticky rice :D

Oddly, I wasn't a fan of their toast XD they only seem to toast one side slightly. So, the bread is still soft. The pool surface is pretty rough, you don't notice at first but after a while it gave our toes blisters. Also, if the pool had the option of some sort of shade, that would be amazing for when we were trying to swim under the blaring sun. Walking to the nearby beach was also disappointing with lots rubbish and tar or oil patches. Broken and dirty foot bridges. However, these are public areas which probably out of the resorts control. If possible, it would have been nice to know on your website which activities are available during which months. The canal was dry during our stay, so we couldn't go canoeing.

I can’t say enough good things about Shantaa. The staff was absolutely amazing—attentive, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. And the location? Simply breathtaking. It felt like stepping into a dream—peaceful, picturesque, and utterly magical. I could have stayed here forever! If you're looking for a perfect getaway that combines incredible hospitality, delicious food, and a stunning setting, this is the place. I can't wait to go back.

The only thing I could possibly suggest is adding a small gym or some equipment, which might be helpful for some guests, but honestly, it didn’t take away from the overall value and experience of this incredible place.

The room and the view are wonderful. The restaurant serves very delicious food at affordable prices. There are also a lot of choices of food in the restaurant. To make things even better you can also spot a cute cat in the restaurant that likes to take a nap at one of the seats,her name is Li (Lisa or Mali). The Cafe at the resort is very good as well and we can especially recommend the cake and the smoothies there. Shantaa resort is a very peacefull place with a lot to offer. We enjoyed our stay a lot so we fully recommend it.

We loved our stay at Shantaa. Our little villa was comfortable, the outdoor bathroom amazing, the food delicious, the pool clean and the beach not far away, yet far enough not to get sandflies. They even went the extra mile when on my birthday they surprised me with cake for breakfast and by the time I got back to the villa had decorated my bed with flowers saying HBD. Thank you! 🥰

If you are looking for a place right on the beach, you might consider going somewhere else (which would be a shame, though ;)).

We had a magical stay at Shantaa Resort. Special mention to all the staff, they were impeccably mannered, very welcoming and went out of their way to help, thank you for making our stay such a joy. The resort itself is a gem in Koh Kood, facilities, rooms and landscaping have the wow factor, it was a true privilege to be able to experience it. I would highly recommend it to everyone, even if just for lunch. Only minor point is the resort beach which is rocky and contains plastic/rubbish unfortunately.
