We had the pleasure of staying at The Cottage just outside of Sigiriya, surrounded by beautiful nature. The bungalows are charming, equipped with air conditioning, and kept immaculately clean. The pool area is stunning and perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Breakfast was excellent, with the choice between authentic Sri Lankan dishes or international options — both were delicious. Free bicycles were available, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. What truly sets this place apart is the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They went above and beyond in assisting us with organizing excursions and providing valuable tips. A highlight of our stay was the cooking class, where we gained an authentic insight into Sri Lankan cuisine. Preparing four different curries over an open fire was a unique and memorable experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights here and can wholeheartedly recommend The Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and unforgettable stay near Sigiriya.

The hotel is in an extremely tranquil setting away from the main road (a little bumpy ride to start with) of Sigiriya. The staff were excellent and very welcoming. The rooms are fantastic little cabins/huts which are extremely spacious and have a lovely 4 poster bed with an insect net. We did not encounter any bugs/insects in the room so that is a bonus considering the setting. There is a pool which we did not use but it was nice to sit around it in the evening to play some cards. There is a minibar in the room as well which had a clear price list for each item. The hotel have a tuk tuk which can take you to the main street/bars/restaurant which is really handy.

Delightful location and cottage in the jungle, peaceful and quiet. Super lovely staff, with your own private restaurant - meals cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients breakfast,lunch and dinner and a lovely pool to relax by too. We used the bicycles to cycle into the village which was lovely too, but perfect to come back to the cottage tucked away down a dirt road surrounded by lovely tropical plants, butterflies, birds and flowers.

The Cottage is a tranquil oasis. Set deep in its lush, green surroundings, it is a world away from the grit and noise of the main road. Peacocks cry, birds chirp, lizards scarper and families of monkeys leap from bough to bough. Lion Rock and the town of Sigiriya are a pleasant bike ride away, but the pleasant, helpful staff can arrange tours, tuk tuks or taxis to destinations near and far. There’s all the free wifi that you need, but this is the ideal environment for a digital detox. It’s a peaceful place to read or just to chill, there are hammocks and a plunge pool to cool down. The restaurant serves some excellent dishes, particularly their koththu. The bungalows are air conditioned and kept spotless. I highly recommend the Cottage and would happily return.

An unforgettable stay! We had an absolutely amazing experience. I reached out to the staff in advance to arrange a surprise for our anniversary, and they went above and beyond. We were welcomed with beautiful rose petals on the bed, a handwritten note, and a complimentary cake at dinner, all for free! The room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped with plenty of thoughtful amenities. The pool area was clean and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. What truly made the difference was the staff: incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. We felt genuinely taken care of throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special, memorable getaway!

The hotel is right in the middle of the nature and very quiet. It was a delight getting up every morning with the sound of monkeys, birds and cows. The staff is lovely, very welcoming and always available to answer to all our requests and answers (including transportation, safari and other experiences). The food is great, especially the local one. We really loved staying at The Cottage Sigiriya, it was a great starting point for our trip in Sri Lanka.

Nothing to point out.

The staff were so welcoming & attentive. It had a small hotel feel which was charming and real Sri Lanka. The rooms were incredibly clean. The food was delicious. They took us on a beautiful walk in the rice fields & it was a pinch me moment. They gave us drinks and cold towels on arrival, hit the spot perfectly

It is a little out of the way on a rough path, but they can arrange transport easily. You don’t get a true oasis without a little distance, so was not a problem for us.

The accomodation is beautiful! The garden is well kept and the pool is clean. When we arrived we were greeted by the gate and assisted with our luggage. After a nice welcome watermeloen juice we could check-in to our room. Which was clean and had everything we needed! The Sri Lankan breakfast they served was amazing and also lunch and dinner were very tasty, they know how to cook here! And are super friendly :) I would recommend having your own transport as it is quite 'far' from the city of Sigiriya.

the grounds are gorgeous,, you could really see and feel the investment of the staff. the rooms were clean and spacious, the fact its located in the middle of the jungle meant we had " visitor" in the room during the night... but once we opened the light it was gone. the staff are above and beyone , we came in the middle of the night and they located an alternative room for us till our room was ready .

the shower is nice and good looking , but the decision to put small pebbles on the shower floor was not comfortable to say to least. the sri lanken breakfast i'm guessing suits the local taste. for us was a bit harsh :) . the conntinental one, was satisfactory. the location is remote from the city center and even our local driver found it hard to find, again the staff were super helpful in directing him.

Amazing! We stayed for two nights and can’t fault the accommodation. Everything was clean and looked after, the pool was great, but most of all the staff were sooo friendly and helpful. They organised a scooter for us to get around on our own, had the laundry ready in no time at all and helped us again organising an elephant safari and taxis leaving the property when we had a few problems with our contact. A big thank you!

Nothing not to like. Maybe grow some greenery up the tower next to the pool? I can not fault our stay.
