Amazing location. Perfect for snorkelling. Provided snorkel masks, flippers, life jackets, paddle boards, kayaks, reef shoes, inflatable water toys. The room was so clean and spacious. Staff were very nice. The morning breakfast buffet was so nice, we thoroughly enjoyed this. fruit everyday was a highlight for us. the deluxe room we had was on the 3rd floor (top floor) with a big balcony that overlooked the beach and lagoon. It was absolutely beautiful. And the other normal studio was on the bottom floor. Both had beautiful beachfront views. I would absolutely stay here again.
The restaurant was a bit overpriced for good/average quality food. We had cheaper meals elsewhere down the road that provided bigger and better quality meals.

THE VIEW !!!! Spectacular Views. The access to the beach is next level and probably the best beach front view we’ve experienced on all our travels. The MENU food here was quality and amazing. One of the best meals we had on the island. The bed was super comfy. The shower pressure was hit and miss but when it did work full capacity the pressure was great. Soaps etc and towels were always replenished. Cleaners did top job on the daily. Room was spacious. No TV channels just a music one but that didn’t bother us. We were here to relax and got exactly that. Servo and food at the Patai store was walking distance from our room. Came in Handy.
Nothing. Absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend Moana Sands Beachfront. Will definitely stay here again.

As a solo female traveler, feeling safe and comfortable is a top priority, and from the moment I arrived, I was made to feel completely at ease. The staff were incredibly friendly, always greeting me with a smile and going above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. Their warm hospitality made my stay extra special. The location is stunning—right on the beach with breathtaking views and the soothing sound of the ocean just steps away. My room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to say thank you in person before I left, so I just want to express my gratitude to everyone at Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel who made my stay so enjoyable. Your kindness and hospitality didn’t go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate it.

Best part of the beach, right on the water, big room, big comfy bed, paddle board, kayak, snorkeling. Didn’t even need to leave the hotel. We were able to get a microwave to our room which helped a lot to make lunch in our room. The little hotel restaurant right on the water is beautiful, can see whales in the distance. Restaurant food delicious and affordable. Happy hour cocktails delicious and look amazing. Conveniently located
Air conditioning could have been better, breakfast could have had more options. Oatmeal would’ve been nice, also espresso coffee, they ran out of beans on our second day and didn’t get anymore beans until our last day and it was very hard to find espresso coffee within walking distance

The Moana Sands is a great establishment that is situated on one of the best stretches of beach I have seen. Its location is in an area with some good neighboring restaurants, bars and a good new convenience store. The included breakfast is sufficient, however if you don't find it filling or appeasing, they do have A La Carte servings for a charge. The area in front of the hotel is great for snorkeling, swimming and paddle boarding; and is safe for all ages. The rooms are comfortable and a good size. We would definitely stay here again. The hotel also has a washing machine and drier which came in handy.
Wifi is by token. We invested in eSims which worked fine.

Great location, beach front, rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious, staff were so helpful and accommodating for my elderly parents in providing a ground floor room.
No microwave in the room. This would be helpful or a common room that has one if each room cant have one so we can warm up our food when needed. Our car rental said not to park under a coconut tree.. Parking has coconut trees there and for the most part it was fine but when it was raining and windy I was worried coconuts would fall onto the car. These are minor things! We still loved our stay and will be back next year 😊

The location here is outstanding - you literally walk out from your room, onto the beach and snorkel. The snorkelling is wonderful and safe. The hotel is not a high end resort - it is so much more. It needs no pool as you have the ocean, chef will make just about anything you want above the included continental breakfast, and the afternoon and evening food was actually hard to beat, as we did try elsewhere. There are several tables outside by the beach for brekkie and dinner at night, watching the sunset. There are sunloungers on the beach. It never feels busy and quite often you seem to have the whole beach to yourself. ALL STAFF are amazing - friendly, helpful, happy - just so personable and kind. This was our second time staying here and we will be back.

Hotel located on a beautiful and quiet sandy beach. Azure water, great snorkelling conditions also just at the shore. The hotel provides free kayaks and snorkelling equipment. Rooms on the first floor are with a terrace with direct access to the beach and on the 1st and 2nd floors with balconies. Rooms nicely arranged, beds very comfortable, air conditioning quiet and efficient. Breakfasts even not bad but monotonous, fixed breakfast set, several types of cereal and bread, cheese, minced meat, a lot of fruit and juices. Parking on the road across the street.
The hotel does not provide internet, you have to purchase hotspot access yourself (min. $10 for 2.5G). The connection is weak, with limited range, constantly drops out and you have to log on again. There are many hotels on the island that provide constant and good wifi access. Quite expensive airport transfer ($25/person), if you arrive outside reception hours - it is mandatory to use the transfer because the room keys are personally provided by the driver.

Our 6-night stay was in a ground floor room which was spacious and comfortable, with a deck that led straight on to the beach and lagoon, just a few steps away. There was good snorkelling straight off the beach. Although the exterior of the hotel appeared a little dated, the room was modern and clean and exceeded our expectations. The hotel had a self-operated laundry with modern industrial-standard washing and drier machines. There were good breakfasts, snacks available during the afternoon, a well-stocked bar and very good meals available in the evening from the restaurant on the beach, with views of the tropical sunsets. The staff were generally friendly and all were courteous. The location was good. We walked to snorkelling at the Fruits of Rarotonga, drinks/meals at Charlies Bar (local live musicians at dinner time) and The Little Polynesian Restaurant (for dinner when Moana Sands has a night off on Saturdays). We walked around 5 minute to the local Cook Islands Christian Church (CICC), which was welcoming and put on a morning tea for visitors after the 10 o'clock Sunday Service. The hotel was also a good base to reach other interests/attractions such as turtle swimming tours at Avaavaroa Passage, the nearby Te Ara Museum, the National Museum, the Black Rock, snorkelling at Aroa Beach and Lagoon/snorkelling tours leaving from Muri. A local bus service circles the island once an hour in each direction, but to get the most out of a stay we'd suggest hiring a car (which we did) . Overall, we had a very happy time and thought the accommodation, food and drinks very good value for money.
