First of all, could be a 10 with some renovation, in some sense it felt old. I liked the retro mood and the music in the bar and restaurant. Otherwise i have only good words about. The owner was friendly and flexible, accepted our late and delayed arrival and prepared a deliciois dinner for us in the restaurant when they were already preparing for closing it. She also prepared take away breakfast for us as we left early, before the restaurant opened. Room had a small heater, but was enough to heat up the room (March, high up in the mountains) and have a good sleep. The location is excellent, easy to find and quite close to the Teide mountain, you can have the needed early start from there to reach the trail starting point before they get crowded.

I had an excellent, unfortunately short, stay at Somberito. It's a family business and everyone was very kind and helpful. The rooms are simple, but absolutely spotless, and smartly thought out, so you have everything the traveler's heart could want (reading lamps, bedside table with plugs to charge your phone, roomy closet, fridge, perfect water pressure and temperature, (and if I remember correctly a window in the bathroom), comfortable bed, dark and light curtains,...). The breakfast is a fantastic option. The tortilla was delicious, but there was also fruit, cereal, different breads, hams and cheese, and more. Definitely worth the money. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the two days I was staying (Wednesdays and Thursdays), so I didn't have the pleasure to taste their food. I had another booking I couldn't cancel or I'd definitely have stayed a day or two more. If I return to Tenerife, I'll definitely come back to Somberito again. Gracias por todo!

The only suggestion I have to make this place even more perfect would be to maybe have a coffee/tea corner somewhere in the building where guests can serve themselves outside of breakfast hours, since breakfast starts relatively late of you plan to go on a long hike (which is of course understandable since they do it all themselves and need to sleep at some point).

The hotel is great value. The location is nice, the breakfast exceeded my expectations, the room was clean, and the staff was very friendly. Also, I forgot something in the room, they promptly called me, and since I had already left the island, they made the effort to ship to my home address abroad. Super nice from them!

The only thing I did not like was that there a bit of a smell in the bathroom. But no big problem.

This was a return visit for us & we were glad to find it unchanged. Yes, the room and bathroom were simple but clean & very quiet. The service, welcome and hospitality is lovely and the restaurant serving hearty Canarian dishes is excellent. Breakfast was generous and varied. Excellent value

Yes, bathroom could be updated but not at these prices. It is important to remember the low price charged. Most important for us is comfort, cleanliness, character, location & hospitality. Hotel Sombrerito delivers these.

absolutely amazing and very helpful staff/owners; perfect location if you're a mountains lover like us; room was cleaned daily; restaurant in the hotel with good food. initially we've got a room with a window opening to indoor patio (not so much fresh air) but the boss lady kindly moved us to another room with proper window which was much appreciated as we were staying there for a whole week.

it would be perfect to have a kettle in the room.

On my way to mount Teide was perfect location where to start my hiking journey up to the volcano I started at 6:30 in the morning and I arrived up there at 2100 meters at 5pm where I later on set up my tent because the hotel was very expensive so I highly recommend this it's much value for your money the hotel near the cable lift ask ne 170£ (it was aslo Christmas day so yeah I paid here 48£ ish (less I think in £) and yeah I slept very well!

Absolutely brilliant beautiful hotel, with wonderful friendly owners, who bend over backwards to make you welcome. Rooms were very clean and spacious with a patio overlooking the stunning scenery, breakfast was excellent with perfect eggs and delicious coffee. I contacted the owners as we could of been later than expected due to a flight delay, and they accommodated us even asking if we wanted a bite to eat. We we definitely return soon for longer, as it was the best hotel we stayed in in our 7 days of touring. Thank you and keep up the good work.

The bed is very tired. And there is no duvet cover for the blanket - there is only an old wool blanket and a sheet (the last time I slept like this was in a pioneer camp in the USSR!). The bed needs to be updated and it will be great!

The attached restaurant had an excellent menu and served a really good dinner. The included breakfast was Note: some photos are added by mistake and are not of property. Review site has no means by which I can delete them.
