Nice hotel in a quiet location, five minutes from the beach, plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, nice walk down to the centre along the coast or shorter walk down through the tunnel .bus back from santander to the hotel is only one euro fifty cents

We didn't eat in the restaurant seems expensive, breakfast is twenty five euros standard breakfast plus add ons for ceral and milk etc , soon its up at fourty euros per person, excessive !!!!! breakfast in the bar's across from the hotel is better value .

The room was very clean and comfortable. The personnel were extremely professional, courteous and did go the extra mile: from the staff in reception, to the waiters at the restaurant, to the maids in the floor. The room was spacious, the bathroom well lit and very functional, and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, definitely worth the price. Plenty of very nice cafes and bars nearby. Lots of promenades to take a stroll: I recommend the walk to the Palacio de La Magdalena.

The location was fine if one is interested in one of the beaches or if one goes to do business at the University of Cantabria. In fact, the two types of guest I saw most were tourists or academics in some UC business. It is a bit far from the city center (not a big issue, many city busses get you to the center for 1.30 euros) if you are going to visit the Centro Botín, or to stroll in the historic district. On the flip side, if you like to walk, it's a nice walk to the port/historic center.

The hotel is very well positioned only metres away from the promenade and the underground parking facility is excellent although it is quite expensive. Parking is free on the streets outside the hotel. We were early checking in but the staff assured us our room was ready and it wasnt a problem. Our room looked out towards the sea and was very nicely appointed and felt to be newly refurbished with a nautical theme. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean as was the bathroom. Breakfast was exceptionally good. So much choice and all the food was so fresh and nicely presented. From the hotel we walked each day. So much to see without catching the hop on hop off bus which does go from the promenade at the bottom of the street but walking along the promenade to visit Magdalena Palace is very enjoyable an d also good exercise after the huge breakfast!

The car park charge per night was pretty expensive at 18 euros a night

- Tranquil room and amenities were fine.

- We nearly missed our flight to the airport in the early morning. I specifically asked the receptionist the day beforehand to book us a taxi. She claimed it was not necessary at all since the hotel is located next to a taxi stop. She also told us the estimated fare price. Upon departure, another receptionist told us there was no guarantee to get a taxi due to a local festivity. Fortunately, a taxi arrived quite quick but the first thing he said was that we were very lucky to have a ride in the first place. The taxi price (taxi meter) was also 50% higher than wat the receptionist told us.

Great location for exploring Santander and the surrounding area. The hotel is just up from the beach so lovely to walk down and enjoy the views. Beds were comfy and room recently redecorated in a more modern style. Free car parking on the street which we used but be aware you might have to wait and circle a few times when parking in the busy times such as evenings. You will get a space eventually but may have to wait (we visited late May so may change in peak summer).

The room we were in was nice but had an ajoining door to the room next door and we could hear someone having a conversation through it. Some additional noise cancelling on these internal doors would be good as we were very aware of their conversation and the fact if we could hear them talking at a normal volume they would be able to hear us too.

A lovely hotel located just a street away from the beach. First impressions were excellent, we arrived very early on a flight into Santander and they were so accomodating in reception, making an effort to have our rooms ready as soon as possible. The rooms were perfect and very comfortable. It was extremely hot the day we arrived and we appreciated the good aircon. The breakfast was exceptional. A huge range of all different types of food available. I was in a group of 7 people and we all agreed that the breakfast was incredible. Also loved the little outdoor pop-up bar, there were lovely little touches with the lights and complimentary sweets. The cocktails were delicious too! Value for money was good as were visiting during peak tourist season.

The lobby and indoor bar area were a little clinical and very quiet. As we were travelling as a group, we wanted to sit together and chat. We were made to feel that we were quite noisy by other guests. Only a minor thing, the staff in hotel were so nice to deal with and nothing was an issue.

Excellent stay at Santemar Hotel. Very close to the main beach of the city El Sardinero (5 walking). Enclosed parking was available by the hotel at a certain cost per day but we have parked outside (not paying anything). Room was spacious, very well and tasting furnished and very quiet. Cleaning also was excellent and in general staff was very helpful. They even provided us with beach towels for the sea. You need 30-40 minutes walking to get to the center but there are also buses (1.30 euros) and the bus stop is just 2 minutes away. Many restaurants and bars around, I wouldn't go at the cafeteria of the Casino, next to the hotel because the staff is completely indifferent. I would recommend a visit at Bottin museum in the center. It has an excellent cafeteria - restaurant in the ground floor overlooking the bay and the sea and has excellent coffee and salads.

Location was great. Room was nice after getting changed from first one that smelled like a cigarette factory

Bar was depressive. Restaurant for breakfast could be better. No valet to handle luggage except for one person that did maintenance, repaired rooms and patiently assisted with luggage Also no concierge service. At one time was told by a very rude front office receptionist that she could not call restaurant to say I was on my way. Others in reception very nice. I guess you get a bad apple in the bunch

The hotel is placed close to the beach, and a 30 min walk from the city center. The rooms are small, but cozy and comfortable. I really appreciated the blackout curtains which were perfect for a good night sleep. Cleaning was done every day. The breakfast was good, with lots of varieties and fresh fruits, and a good coffee too. The fresh apples and limonade available all day long in the reception were excellent.

We liked everything. Just a suggestion…it would be nice if the hotel could provide car rental options (e.g working with a car rental company and have the car delivered ar the hotel); Still, I noticed that the parking is very difficult around (lots of cars and few places to park), so a place to park a rental vehicle would probably help too.

This was a last minute booking due to our ferry being delayed by 24hrs. I’m so glad I booked this one. It was very easy to get to and it had lots of parking. It was a much larger hotel than I realised. Reception was helpful & obviously used to an influx of Brits. We were in room 828. The room was so lovely. It was big and very clean. The only downside was that the toilet seat was broken so was wobbly but it didn’t deter from the fact that it was a good room. We had a really good view out of the window onto the sea. Very nice. It had a restaurant and a snack bar that we used. Very reasonably priced. Within walking distance to a small Lupa supermarket and a walk on the prom. Only there for one night but really enjoyed it and definitely would stay there again.
