I slept in a female.dorm for 4 persons. Comfortable with privacy because.of the curtains. I really liked the decoration in the hostal. And very important: it is very clean.

Very clean, option for a 4 bed female dorm. Handy drawers under bed for storage, lockable with a padlock. Comfy beds, long and spacious bed area with space for water and other things. Sheets and a blanket, privacy curtain and light and charging point in bed area. Travelling the Camino and was relatively quiet.
No hob for cooking. Confusion on check in as we had booked the last two beds in the 4 bed female dorm and paid more and expected bottom bunks. My friend has strained her leg so would have appreciated the bottom bunk but were told they were not available despite us arriving first.

At 44, I was a little wary about staying in a hostel again. I really shouldn't have worried! Staff were all brilliant. I love the privacy of the beds. Each has a curtain to it, a plug and a light. Pass access to each of the dorms which was an added bonus (extra security). All areas were spotlessly clean. In fact, you wouldn't have known it was full for 2 of my 3 nights. Location was brilliant to be easy distance between the city centre and the beach. If I travel alone again to Santander, I will definitely stay here. Great communication via messages on here too to a query that I had.

The sleeping pods felt private, even though you were in a room with upto 11 other people. The mattresses were comfortable, the bedding was clean and the overall hostel itself was clean too. I do like the fact no food/beverages are allowed in the bedroom as this meant they were kept really clean.
The terrace could be improved slightly with better quality hanging rails for drying clothes etc. there were also some issues with some of the drawers in the bedroom, where the locks were broken and people couldn’t use them for their luggage so had to put their belongings outside of the room.

The hostel manager was great. I am “age challenged” and slightly restricted flexibility-wise. She allowed me to use the disabled toilet and shower facility which was excellent.
The beds were very comfortable but the design of the box entrance/exit was so low that I kept cracking my head on the fancy wood entrance/exit surround. Tall or less flexible guests should be provided with head protection! I hit my head several times quite hard and it was VERY PAINFUL!!

The staff was really friendly and helpful. It was cheap and well located. Having curtains for your bunk bed is also very nice for a little privacy.
It didn't seem so easy to get to know people. At my time of arrival quite a lot of people working with their laptops and the common area is shut down at 11 pm. This is not a criticism since I get that people want to sleep, but it's a thing that should be known before booking. And don't get me wrong I had a great stay there and also got to meet a few people in the hostel itself.

The pod was spacious and had individual light and power outlet. The pod has a privacy curtain. Has a locker under each pod (bring own padlock). Bed was comfortable, and you were provided with clean linen to make the bed. Bunkroom was quiet. Bathroom, living, dining, kitchen and bunkroom areas all were clean. They had lots of clothes racks if you wanted to dry some hand washing. I used the correos luggage transfer service to/from and this went well. Seperate men's and women's bathrooms. Women's had multiple showers and toilets. Hot water and good shower pressure with liquid bodywash in shower. Had modern decor with a kitchen and a lounge area. If doing the Camino Del Norte- once you get off the ferry from Somo it is about 1km/10-15min fairly flat walk to get to hostel (in the opposite direction from where the camino continues towards Santillana Del Mar). Good wifi. Easy check in. Friendly staff who spoke good English. Swipe card given to access pod room and after hours building access.
The pod curtains aren't black out curtains, so if your roommate turns the main room light on at 1am and 4am, it shines through all our pod bed curtains and wakes everyone. The showers don't have a dry area to change within the individual shower area but you can get changed outside the shower space but still within the women's bathroom area.

The cleanliness, room, and bed condition, and the behaviour of the staff.
In the kitchen there's no stove to cook. And you can only use the kitchen until 11 PM which I found better in the Hostel Santander hotel. They have many kitchen utensils and fruits in the living room, and you can use the kitchen stove for your cooking. Also , no laundry service was there. But with a small payment in Hostel Santander people can do laundry.

Enjoy Santander is brilliant, the best hostel I’ve stayed at. It all stems from the staff who are engaged, kind and helpful and care about it being a nice, clean place to stay. The communal area is great - genuinely a nice place to spend time.
My only two points of improvement would be 1) washing the mattress covers a little more often as mine was dirty and 2) putting a de-odour auto spray in the bathroom, which can smell a bit of drains. Overall though, great.

Staff are all very friendly and make you feel at ease. Hostel is very clean and not scruffy, I liked having the pod style bed rather than an open bunk. The water pressure is good in the shower and there is an outdoor area to dry towels, etc
The reading lights inside the pods are quite bright, the curtains in the pods could be made thicker or lower lumen bulbs installed to stop the light disturbing others.
