This property is a 20 unit hotel built from a 500 year old former church and monastery. It is a masterful blend of the old rugged structure with the latest amenities. Excellent craftsmanship abounds. It is excellently located on the Mediterranean Sea, adjacent to the old fish market plaza - truly convenient to the sea, shops, and restaurants. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, always ready to map out a route to points of interest or to coordinate a pick up for you. Breakfast buffet was served on the 4th floor rooftop terrace which provides a front row view of the Mediterranean Sea which is directly below. Magnificent!

The location in Trapani was absolutely fantastic — right on the waterfront, with stunning ocean views and just a short walk to the town center. Convenient, ample parking nearby was also a big plus. The hotel itself is housed in a beautifully restored historic building, exuding classic old-world charm. While the rooms were somewhat bland in terms of décor, they were impressively spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was a real highlight — a wonderful spread featuring a wide variety of Sicilian specialties, served in a charming enclosed patio. From there, you could also step out onto an external viewing platform with beautiful views of the sea and town. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcome throughout our stay.

The bathroom was a little dated in all honesty. The main reason I didn't give a higher score was because the toilet seat was faulty and off center. In fact, it appeared to be too small and lop-sided which was gross as the rim was exposed. The bathroom door also didn't latch properly. So we were a bit disappointed in the general maintenance of the place.

Location is very central , can walk to everywhere . Beautiful views from room , sea front, the sunset is amazing, especially from terrace where the breakfast bar is located Staff very welcoming and helpful.

Is a bit tricky to get there by car , as all the central area is a green zone closed to traffic. Navigator doesn’t function properly in the area and kept sending me in no access or transit area.

A fantastic hotel overlooking the sea. Close to beaches and in the historic district. We were thrilled with the attention to service and the entire staff went out of their way to help us. Room was well air conditioned and perfect. The best secret is the hotel restaurant on the roof. Watching the sunsets every night was amazing and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. Loved being across the street from the beach. Hotel rented us towels and an umbrella for $2 euro a day - which I thought was a bargain.

It is difficult to find the hotel and I'm not sure we would have found it without one of the staff coming out to get us! It is directly across from the old fish market - so drive and park very briefly at the market. We were actually at the back entrance of the hotel without knowing it. Parking is always an issue in the historic towns and districts and this is no different. Staff was very helpful in this. Download the easy park app and it is about $18 a day on the street.

The buffet breakfast each morning was superb. The terrace lounge in the evening from 6-10pm was also a lovely way and place to unwind from the day. Excellent location in the old town, close to shops and restaurants and the port. Unfortunately we were not able to get a seaview room but our room at the back ended up being very quiet and was a very large size.

One thing Residence La Gancia may wish to reconsider is their policy of only 2 coffee capsules given on the first day. After that you must buy a coffee capsule for 1 euro. The local supermarket sells boxes of 10 for 3 euros. Given their very generous breakfast buffet each day, this seemed at odds with their standards. We are sure there is some logical explanation for this policy.

Just like the pictures, only better. The hotel's location and the view from our room, the quality of the furnishings, the delicious buffet breakfast and the kindness of the staff, all made our stay at La Gancia very memorable. We really got to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The beaches, Erice and a trip to Favignana were all part of our Trapani experience, which staying at La Gancia enhanced.

The wind! Trapani is a very windy place.

Excellent location, and extremely comfortable rooms. But what really makes this place special is the staff. They go above and beyond to help with anything they can. From the car from the airport, to arranging a boat, to always having a taxi or dinner reservation, it was perfect. Trapani is a highly special place, and the people who operate this hotel make sure to include you in all that the city has to offer. We hope to be back next year. And don’t miss a drink on the roof at sunset. The lovely young woman who runs the bar is the absolute best.

Front desk staff courteous and helpful. English was stronger for some staff than others. Rooms were unique; bathroom fan was noisy; began to show a little age but pretty, nonetheless. Breakfast was very nice on the fourth floor - hardworking ladies prepared coffee and cappuccino. Juice selection was very good. Cheeses, 3 kinds of cake (including one pie) croissants, scrambled eggs & hardboiled eggs, bacon, toast, yogurts, salami, jams & marmalades, honey, etc. Did not use the air conditioner - my perception was that it was dusty dirty. (Could be wrong - but I didn’t want to try.) Had refrigerator and coffee maker and kitchen serving utensils, coffee packets and some other things we didn’t use.

NO night staff. But had to enter back gate with a hotel key…. Public parking lot about a 5 -10 minute walk away.

The whole experience was brilliant. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The accomodation was excellent with a very comfortable bed great wifi and lovely bathroom. The location was central to all facilities and it was easy for our excursions to Erice, the saltpans tour and the ferry for Favignana. The residence La Gancia had an excellent lift as well as a beautiful marble staircase that led to a top floor terrace for a delightful breakfast served by friendly and attentive staff. Our visit could not have been more perfect. Grazie.

This property is located next to a beautiful, historic seaside promenade next to the center of street activity. Beautifully appointed in a contemporary Italian way, it offers a number of high-level experiences -- including a rooftop patio -- from which they serve a beautiful breakfast overlooking the water, or a late evening drink to watch the moon. Also, the staff saved my vacation by retrieving and forwarding my lost cellphone the very next day. I'd return in a heartbeat.

There wasn't anything not to "like" but parking is dependent on street availability, which wasn't hard to find outside the beachfront entrance. An easy-to-use online app allows you to pay for parking for a whole day (about $16).
