This is a great place if your looking for a good value, basic room, centrally located near the center. It's minutes away from Moncloa metro and buses, there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and beautiful park oeste is a very short walk. It's hard to find a quiet place in Madrid, it's so noisy but here we slept well,,very quiet. The room and bathrooms were very clean and I was impressed that the beds were so comfortable, the mattresses were very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they let is leave our luggage after checkout. Ive stayed at many places in Madrid, at this price it is among the best. I definitely reccomend

Hostal Arrate is located in a really good area, near to Moncloa station. This district is Chamberi and it is full of restaurants, cafe and bar and it is really comfortable about travelling and use of transportation. The room was clean and they clean everyday, bathrooms are clean and in general I didn’t find nothing of bad in this place. The only negative thing is sharing the bathrooms with others customers but there are four, so I never find all of them totally unavailable.

I was not expecting air conditioning to be in the room, so it was a very pleasant surprise to have that accessible, and also have to full control of the temperature. The request to keep the temperature at 24°C or 25°C was very reasonable (and actually slightly colder than what I prefer :)). Overall was a convenient and pleasant stay. The location is walking distance from the Moncloa metro and there are also sightseeing very near there. I was able to visit the Faro de Moncloa and it was great!! Highly recommend to visit that. :)

Location wise Hostal Arrate is superb. It has easy access to 2 metro stations and from there we could go anywhere we wanted: train station, airport, Royal Palace, Prado, Reina Sofía. The room was a good size, the beds were comfortable and it was really clean. We could see a lot of cleaning going on whenever we’re around. And that goes for the common bathroom, too. Hot water was in plentiful supply as were shampoo and bathing products. We weren’t allowed to use the microwave nor cook in the private kitchen, though they provided us with hot water when requested . However, Diego the nice gentleman in charge of the place assured us that plans are afoot to make the place even more attractive in terms of comfort & facilities. Meanwhile the hostal is hands down a good choice for Madrid. Diego was very helpful with things to do and where to eat. There were no shortages of eating places around and we could have a good meal whenever we wanted. And most importantly we felt safe staying there! Indeed we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The hostel is located in an apartment building on one of the floors. Close to metro, walking distance to that main shopping street. The communication with the host, Diego, was great - we checked in in the evening and left our backpacks the next day to walk around and get back for them in the evening. The room was nice - beds are awesome, clean new linnens, towels included, a heater and blankets, enough sockets for charging the devices. There is a long hall with rooms and 2 bathrooms. Didn’t have any problem or lines, there is soup you can use. We also saw a kitchen but didn’t use it at all. We were very delighted with our stay, thanks a lot!!!

It was a great stay!!!

simole but clean, surprisingly quiet single room with a washbasin, internet worked well; the house was quiet (though if there are noisy guests you will certainly hear them coming home); bathroom at the end of the corridor, I got up early and had not problems taking a shower; the area around the hostel is full of little restaurants and supermarkets and fairly close to both Moncloa metro and bus station as well as Islas Filipinas metro station (two blocks away). The Museum de las Americas is also walking distance and the Complutense University is not far.

all in all a pleasant experience

Hostal Arrate was just what I needed for a short stay in Madrid. The room was basic but very clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed and private bathroom. The location is good, in a safe neighborhood, close to public transport and shops. The staff were polite and check-in was quick and easy. It’s a great budget option if you're looking for a no-fuss place to rest. I would stay again for sure.

The furniture is a bit shaky and chipped, an old towel hook is rusty and probably better to be removed or replaced with extra hook for the shower towel but still good overall. Also if the keys were marked clearer it would be better.

It was exactly as advertised - both the single and double rooms were comfortable, roomy enough and clean. Mary was a wonderful host and was so helpful! Someone could answer questions at any time. The hostel was also quiet - no loud guests and no loud noises overnight from outside either. Very convenient location close to the Isla Filipinas Metro line 7. Lots of food, drink, stores nearby. Close to Parque del Oeste.

The shared bathrooms had tub/shower, toilet and bidet and sink. They could have been a little roomier, but they were good enough for our needs.

Very friendly classic, old-fashioned Hostal. It has everything you need and is well communicated, exceptionally clean and good value. It is run by a couple who could not be more helpful and welcoming. Yes, it is a little old-fashioned and quirky (1970s blue bathroom suites are something even hipsters haven't rediscovered yet!) but if you are busy out in Madrid all day and want somewhere functional at a great price, near a Metro in a nice residential area of central Madrid, look no further, this kind of place used to be so common but is now a dying breed. Save yourself a lot of money and spend the difference on going out! That's what Madrid is all about, after all. This is also a great location for anyone visiting the University.
