I arrived in the evening just in time for a delicious home-prepared meal of four courses. I was travelling on my own but all the guests were seated together and we shared stories. Really excellent value for money. In the morning we met again for a generous breakfast of fresh croissants and breads. The host was chatty and welcoming. Nice views over the valley. I slept in the dorm room, which was clean with comfortable beds and a shared bathroom/shower room.

When I first went to bed I was bitten by mosquitos, but after I put on some insect repellent I slept soundly.

simple Gite in a fantastic location. Rooms were a good size, very clean and comfortable. Both the evening meal (salad starter, fuck breast with pasta, cheese, and home made tart) and breakfast (croissant, bread, copious coffee, lots of different jams etc.) were first class. locally sourced wine was very drinkable, and at around €15 a bottle, great value.

Amazing view, extremely nice and helpful owner, very good and friendly atmosphere in general, peaceful nature around. Dinner and breakfast big and tasty. Location not bad, even by walking it’s around 40min (up the hill) from the train station and it’s a good place to start a hike. Would love to come again for longer!

Excellent dinner and breakfast and a super friendly host!

Breakfast was sufficient. Quite a climb from the village to reach it on bikes.

It was the first time staying in a Gîte. We had to hire towels. There was no self catering. Just a basic room with bed, shower, toilet. There was no air conditioning so extremely hot.

Sylvie is lovely and cooked us a lovely meal. homemade sorbets and jams at breakfast. spotlessly clean. comfortable beds and decent bathrooms.

we were cycling and those without electric bikes found the uphill to Edelweiss tough. accommodation is very simple - no bedside light. automatic lighting in family room which is guaranteed to wake up everyone when visiting the bathroom in the night.

Sylvie greeted us and cooked us a full meal, staying later than she normally would have. Breakfast looked good but we didn’t stay for it. Hiring towels was a first ever for us in the hundreds of places we have stayed in.

Being a first Friday of August, it was very difficult to find accommodation anywhere in the area. However, we were the only 2 staying here! Or so we were told. While sitting waiting for the sunset, we could hear dogs barking in the area. Didn’t take too much notice until we decided to go to bed. The dogs, it turned out, were locked inside a room opposite our bedroom in the house separate to the dormitory area. Three dogs barking loudly and continuously for what was by now an hour not only distressed me but as the owner had left, we had no idea if they were being let out soon. Sylvie had asked us not to lock the door to the building as her niece would be back later to collect something. I didn’t pick up that this was the dogs. I phoned the number given as contact and was told by the man that «  they didn’t have dogs and I needed to go and speak with the dogs’ owner ». When I persisted, he was very short with me until he could hear the chaos himself. He then seemed to be turning to someone to talk to them but hung up on me without giving me any idea about the dogs and the noise. I rang three or four times just to get an answer but went through to voicemail every time. No reply. I even sent an email to them via booking.com to ask them to reply to me but am still awaiting any reply. I had to go and sit outside just to get away from the noise and 15-20 minutes later, Sylvie and her niece turned up. No one spoke to me and I asked what was going on, expecting some sort of reply or at least an apology but nothing! I followed the lady in to get the dogs but she had shut the door. I knocked, asking what was going on but no reply. She walked straight past me as if I were not there and when I spoke, I was ignored. Following them to the car, Sylvie ignored me too. My husband and I had been so grateful for her going to all the trouble of staying later than normal to give us a good meal and I offered to pay her straightaway. She kindly said to settle up in the morning.
