What is there not to like here? The food ++, the location++, the views+++, and the in-hot tub ++++. There is nothing I can say bad about the place. I felt special from start to finish.

Can be hard to move around if you miss the free shuttles on the morning but there is a bus stop less than 6 min walk. Just letting you know

Amazing location right on a beautiful, quiet beach. We loved the onsen on our balcony and views from the bar/lounge. Very large room, well equipped and clean. Friendly staff, useful shuttle into town (and public buses easy to use), everything we needed from the gift shop/vending machines. Breakfast and dinner were a wonderful experience, very generous meals served in a private room within the restaurant. The food is very high quality and beautifully presented, an authentic experience of Japanese fine dining, even if some things were quite unusual for us! They were extremely accommodating with my non fish/seafood requirements - an especially awkward request in this location I'm sure!

Some of the decor is a little tired, but every part of the hotel is clean and comfortable.

This place took good serive to another level. From the start of my stay till the end, the staff went above and beyond to ensure the comfort for my husband and I for our stay there (for example, the check in was in the lounge instead of the counter where they guided us to our room, and the excellent and prompt service for our in room meals). Rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The access to the beach and the onsen facilities were great!

I's not a big deal but I noticed the hotel itself could use an update (I noticed the wall paper in some areas that are damaged being an older building).

We had an incredible stay—everything from start to finish was thoughtful and seamless. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle from the station, which made our arrival stress-free. Upon check-in, we were welcomed with a cold drink and a traditional Japanese sweet, along with salt candies thoughtfully placed on the table—perfect for the summer heat. The check-in process was the best we've ever experienced: we sat comfortably in the lounge, which offers a stunning view, while a staff member kindly walked us through all the information in detail. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, complete with a private bathroom and a small terrace with real green grass overlooking Tatadohama Beach. It was a truly peaceful and scenic space to unwind. Dinner and breakfast were both exquisite. The staff provided English explanations for each course, making the experience even more enjoyable and accessible. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for exceptional hospitality, comfort, and a memorable seaside escape.

The food was excellent with very impressive presentations. We had half-board and the latest breakfast serving was at 8:30, the latest dinner at 18:30. Not much happening in the evening, although the onsens were great. It felt like a spa-resort more than a bustling hotel, but we enjoyed it. We had a traditional room with futons and a lovely sea-view. It was simple but comfortable and clean.

The hallways need renovation, but everything seemed very clean and it was not a problem

Excellent location overlooking the Pacific. A modern hotel but with traditional Ryokan - style rooms available plus an onsen bath and a small outdoor pool. Obviously popular for surfing. Staff very helpful, well trained and cheery. Choice of cuisine available - Japanese and western. Food provided very well presented, expertly served and tasty. Hotel provided a courtesy coach to and from the town centre.

The staff provided the best service I’ve ever received at a hotel. The view was amazing. Great location with lots to do around Shimoda. The Japanese onsen was amazingly beautiful.

The building is older and showing some wear and tear but the carpet seemed new in the public spaces. I didn’t care for the western style jacuzzi but the Japanese style made up for it.

The welcome reception was very nice, all staff on the property were very respectful and kind. Our departure was very nice. We had a room overlooking the Tatadohama beach and had a private hot tub (bath), which was delightful. The meals were extraordinary, so much food and we felt we were eating very traditional Japanese meals, which we appreciated.

Incredible view, with amazing private Onsen. The room is spacious, and it has really nice features like glass pane shower rooms and balcony. The staff was really friendly and nice, with really great services.

The price seems a bit expensive for one night, and they didn't have menus to order in the room so I had to wake about 20 minutes to go to the nearest restaurant. Location is incredible for the view, but the convenience store and restaurants are way too far away, and also we had to make our own bed, which was tad annoying.

Absolutely loved everything about our stay here. This was our first stay in a traditional Japanese style hotel and it was just perfect. The staff were very helpful and freindly, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was exceptional. The hotel has it own private access to the beach too, which was idealic.
