Lovely comfortable hotel in the centre of town. Plenty of character to the place most noticeable being the spiral staircase to the bedrooms and the lovely small windows , looking out on the street on the landing of the stairs. Al.so a lovely bright restaurant / cafe and a spacious modern bar. Walsh's appears to be the hub for the local community and all ages visit. The staff especially at the reception were friendly and very helpful with any queries we had. We had a meal in the restaurant on sunday evening and it was delicious . Also great bus service to Derry and Belfast from the park and ride centre on the outskirts of the village - bus nearly every hour to both cities . We had a lovely time and hope to return !

Breakfast was a bit limited but what was supplied from the kitchen was top class. The toaster and bread that was available for breakfast on sunday morning was removed on monday morning probably due to the fact that only some of the rooms were occupied on sunday night. Also some muesli with the cereals would have being nice.

We enjoyed our stay at Walsh’s hotel The food was good , great menu! We ate in the bistro on the evening , we enjoyed our meals. Service was fast as we were the only ones in there as we were quite early. Breakfast was delicious and a good portion size, set us up for the day! Room was a great size , nice table by the window , loved the decor of the bathroom, comfy bed ! Would love to come bavk on a weekend where it would be a bit busier and more of an atmosphere in the bistro/bar and the steak house next door would have been open.

Only thing we didn’t like was the room we were in was right on the road front and busy road with traffic lights, lots of lorry’s and tractors , also roadworks going on late at night. Also getting ready in the morning I had to close the curtains as otherwise the whole of maghera would have seen, maybe a net curtain would be a good idea?

I am going to bring my wife back to this hotel and stay for a few days next time They have a history that i didn't have time to explore in detail, but if you book in and look at the history/opportunities in the locale if you have a few days then please make the effort Staff both bar, breakfast, and locals in the bar ....Superb

Being a very old hotel, the lift was out of order, (could be a tempter to get you sweating and into the bar) and there is a lot of stairs (up and down) as very old buildings in old historic towns can encompass expanding adjoining buildings. so be fit or get the very helpful staff to bring your luggage to your room for you.

Great little spot to base yourself before heading out to explore things like the Giants Causeway, the Dark Hedges, etc. (if you're driving). Not much of a tourist town (which is a huge bonus in my opinion) so you'll have no trouble getting a seat in the local pubs or restaurants! We checked out the pub at the hotel and took in some wonderful live music. It's a beautiful pub too. The front desk staff at check-in couldn't have been more accommodating. He literally came outside and stopped traffic so I could turn our car around and park in the car park, then carried both our huge suitcases up all the stairs to our room! I still feel bad that I didn't have cash on me to tip him, but thank you, super friendly man! Our apartment was huge, with a full kitchen and big comfortable bed. All the shops and everything you'll need are right there within walking distance. Great stay in a small town that I enjoyed very much!

The staff and the old building. The rooms in the original building were wonderfully unique and comfortable. The staff were really lovely and friendly and a big shout out to Ajay who looked after a table of us (11 including kids) at dinner time and he was very patient and attentive.

We also rented one of the newer apartments and it was fine but the smell of petrol in the entrance and up the stairs was very strong. There was no smell in the actual apartment. The coffee for the morning residents wasn’t great but everything else was delicious.

We stayed in the apartment which had everything you would need for a self-catering break and was only a short walk from the hotel. Breakfast was included and was a fabulous full Ulster Fry, fruit juices and cereal Staff are so friendly and helpful

We would have preferred to have stayed in the hotel, but as it was full we were offered the apartment Next time we will hopefully get a hotel room!

We were attending a wedding in the Wild Duck. The staff couldn’t have done any more for us, they shuttled us to and from the venue though I’d not pre-booked, they went above and beyond to make sure we’d get there and back after the wedding. On arrival back, we’d nipped into the bar for one last drink and they made us toast which was amazing!! They even put the bouquet of flowers into the fridge for us to keep overnight! Breakfast the next morning was just as good! We really enjoyed the stay and would recommend to anyone to spend a night here!

Gerard checked us in at reception he was excellent and most helpful, brought Our Luggage to the most fantastic room ,you could have slept 10 in Our Bed ,the room was well equipped and the bathroom was excellent,the night porter was Exceptional when I wanted something at 4am in the morning he was so friendly and helpful,Our Breakfast was super,We will definitely be back ,thank you for all your help and hospitality.

Absolutely fabulous suite. Separate sitting room. Stunning ensuite bathroom with spa bath. Luxury toiletries and towels supplied. Huge bedroom with fantastically comfortable bed. Included breakfast was freshly made to order (BRILLIANT) and both plentiful and super tasty. We ate in the restaurant and had the three course Sunday carvery....just amazing!!! All staff we interacted with were helpful, friendly and approachable. We'll be back!!

Very nice and spacious room. Clean rooms and comfortable bed. Rooms had nice temperature not too cold. Night porter offered hot water for flask due to leaving early and jot being able to get breakfast. Sandwich pack was offered too instead.

Parking facilities not great. No detail about WiFi in the room available. Bottled water in the room would be appreciated.
