Loved the location. Staff were really helpful and friendly. The spa was well maintained and everything worked properly. The bedroom was a great size really comfy bed and excellent shower. The food was excellent a choice of 2 restaurants we ate in Spencers as it gave more choice. It wasn't overpriced and we felt very relaxed and well looked after. We frequently travel from Cardiff to Aberystwyth so this is a great half way point. We will definitely be back.
Not a fault of the hotel but some locals have membership of the spa which is nice as they were all friendly and it wasn't busy However there was an older gentleman who sat in the jacuzzi spread out who wouldn't let anyone press the button as he didn't like the bubbles. He was there for at least half an hour.

Excellent breakfast with good choices. Was able to get oat milk and enough hot options avoiding meat. Bed was very comfy. Staff friendly and fetched what we asked for. Made us feel very welcome with pet dog, so we felt relaxed. Pool attendant was happy for me to use pool towel to wrap around as no free dressing gown provided. Our room 130 was right temperature and fantastic bathroom was spotlessly clean. Hotel was well staffed with excellent service.
There was no labelled sugar free yogurt at breakfast and the cold part of buffet was not covered. There were one or two marks on upholstery in bedroom, restaurant and bar areas. Moved to sit on adjacent seat in bar area. In room no dressing gown and slippers provided, which I had assumed would have been included in price. I did not want to pay to hire these. Just voile at windows in bathroom, felt slightly exposed after dark. Could have done with an extra layer of curtain there. Had to ask at reception for decaf coffee and herbal tea sachets. OK when hotel less busy as now. But would not want to have to queue at reception for this in busy times.

Back in the 1990s, I holidayed in Llandod for the Victorian Festival, staying at a local b&b (owners now retired) but spent a lot more f time at the Metropole for drinks, meals and events, so it was my top choice for this holiday. It did not disappoint! I liked everything about staying here. Plenty of parking, help unloading our luggage on arrival, helpful and polite staff at all levels from cleaners to reception. The place simply works, and works smoothly - but then they have had over 100 years of running this hotel (there is an interesting display about its history along the corridor that stretches front to back). The standard double room was comfortable, spacious and a nice blend of tradition and modern. The en-suite was large, with a very good waterfall shower over the bath, automatic lighting and decent extractor fan. For a large hotel, the room was quiet, and there was less noise from other rooms than in many more modern buildings. The self service breakfast was excellent, with good vegetarian options too, in a very large dining room. We didn’t have a chance to dine there in the evening, as we were busy with festival event every night, but another time would try the restaurant. The staff were very helpful about packages I needed to be sent to the hotel - the first few were already in my room when I arrived. WiFi was absolutely fine. It worked so well for this trip, I would definitely stay there again.
Very little to note, and the only thing I can think of is that the room didn’t have many power sockets, and no USB sockets for charging phones etc. That is to be expected in an older property, so we travel with adapters and a 3-way anti surge cube, so it was no problem. As it is a large hotel, be prepared for a fair walk internally between the car park and your room, and there are several lifts which made bringing in all our luggage much easier. As we were there for the Victorian Festival, we probably had more luggage than most!

Loved it! Really enjoyed the ambience of the hotel. Appreciated the space in our (Luxury) room. Great food. Good and friendly service. Excellent machines in the gym. Really good spa. Yes, the furniture is a bit dated, as my wife mentioned more than once but the character, amenities, staff and food quality at the hotel more than made up for that in my view.

Nice bathroom with a bath and a decent sized shower. Good breakfast with some decent healthy options as well as the usual stuff. Good location and a decent sized car park. After our poor dining experience on the first night (see what I didn't like), we tried the main restaurant for our final night there. 3 courses for £33. All food served together (table of 8) and all good. A complete turnaround from night 1.
The bedroom was supposed to be a superior room. It was big enough but not well/recently furnished. Bit old style. The meal the first night in the bar area was not good. Starters and mains arrived at the same time for some diners! Staff tried hard but were a bit disorganised.

Well the Met had better be decent given it's the poshest hotel in town. And it definitely is decent. Nicely sophisticated whilst capitalizing on quaint charm. Blister plasters are available at reception. Breakfast is included and is pretty reasonable. Reception staff pleasant and polite.
Toothbrushes are not available at reception. Doesn't serve Calvados at the bar and you can't buy a bottle of brandy to take upstairs. No glasses in rooms, only mugs. Some of the staff are a trifle snooty. Small room and the heating didn't seem to work.

Stayed in room 201, which was in the centre of the hotel, So unfortunately there were no views from the window 😧 (but it was the last room available on Booking .com, so could not really complain). That said, the room did have a Nice double bed. The bathroom was fitted with both a bath and separate shower cubicle. A must for those who find it hard to climb into the bath to use the shower. The Staff on reception were great. Very Helpful, Chatty and Generally Pleasant . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Every one of the staff I interacted with were very helpful. No need to haul your bags up the stairs to the Reception! As there is a lift from the car park to the first floor, was very useful. Very large private car park, with segregated area for the large number of motorcycles which our group had. Food was excellent, both at breakfast and dinner. Sorry I did not make better use of the pool, which I promise to make better use of ion my next visit.
The lift from the car park, needs better signage. I only noticed the lift, by chance. I got into the lift to go up to my room, and noticed it only went to the LG floor. So being nosey, I went down just to see where it went. Little win! 🥇 😊

Brilliant. Clean facilities, excellent resources in a family room. The use of the pool was fun, thoroughly enjoyed and worth making time for. The staff welcome was excellent. They treat guests like they are the most important thing to them. I've wanted to stay here for years after visiting for conferences and events over the years and it lived up to all our expectations. Looking forward to going back.

The location is great right in the middle of the town. The bed was warm and the mattress wasn't hard. The comfortable lounge area where residents and non residents can sit and have a drink. The staff were happy to help with any questions. They were flexible when I changed a dinner reservation.
The phone in the room wasn't working. The TV kept going off on its own.

Nice room, lovely breakfast. Good WiFi.
A couple of tiny things would make a massive difference: a hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang a bathrobe for example. In the swimming pool changing rooms the shower cubicles could benefit from a shelf or hook to store shower gel / shampoo, etc. Again a hook or place to hang a wet jacket in the bedroom would make such a difference.
