The restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed our dinner very much. This was our second visit on route from Dieppe to Dordogne. The hotel is conveniently placed for that and it is calm and quiet in the countryside. Our room was quite a good size with a comfortable king-size bed. The shower worked very well. There were enough power sockets for phone charging and there was a hairdryer in the bathroom. There were plenty of mirrors, but not one on the dressing table but that didn't bother me as I don't wear makeup anymore. The staff are friendly.

Although I like this hotel a lot there are a few things that I didn't like. The pillows were awful, small, square, hard and overstuffed. The pillow cases were in a knobbly ruched material. I didn't sleep well because of my pillow. I don't remember the pillows being that bad when we stayed last time. The room and corridor were being decorated but were unfinished which made them seem a bit shabby, though they will be nice when finished. The washbasin had a tap that turned on by passing your hand in front of a sensor and the water stopped too soon after moving your hand. There wasn't a plug so you couldn't fill the sink with water. This was awkward for my partner who likes wet shaving.

Dinner was excellent served in a typical rural French hotel restaurant and pretty good value. There are a couple of nice outside areas to enjoy a pre-dinner drink too. Being only 1 hour away from Caen this is a great location to stay overnight if catching an early ferry. Interestingly speaking with fellow UK guests they were all staying overnight before heading to the Eurotunnel so clearly a good location for Calais too.

The room was basic but we only paid £55 (room only) so at that price not really a negative.

Dinner was excellent and good value; so was the breakfast.. The room was well appointed, spotless and the bed very comfortable. The service very friendly and unobtrusive.

The hotel is very rural and remote. My SatNav coped, but the road signs were minimal and fading. They need renewal, at least a thorough clean! Without a SatNav - which worked well this time (though I've learned to be suspicious of it in very rural places) - I guess I would never have got there. BUT this was a gem and worth the search. On my way from the port at Caen to deeper France in he future I will make a point of staying again. Absolutely worth the effort of getting there!

Friendly staff, and a very good restaurant. Very quiet location and easy to find and park at. You do need your car to get anywhere interesting but that's to be expected. There are a lot of nice villages and nature walks within 30-60 minutes driving on beautiful roads.

Everything is a bit worn and old. A bit of rustic charm is fine but the small bed, cracked lights, shower bits missing etc was all a bit much. The hotel wifi is downright terrible, it connects fine but it is truly isdn slow. Forget about video calls, no 4g reception either.

This is my second stay and I really enjoy this hotel. Frankly I think it’s a bit of a gem. I find it rather charming and look forward to returning soon. In particular the restaurant is very good. The hotel also has a lovely quiet location and the staff are friendly and hospitable.

The front door handle perhaps has its own quirky character and seems to require a certain jiggling action to successfully open. Not really an issue but when travelling by motorcycle you do tend to make a number of trips to load and unload.

The rooms are very small, but adequate. It is an outstanding value. The setting and rooms are very, very quiet. Dinners at the restaurant are excellent. Choice of 2 versus 3 courses was much appreciated. Breakfast offered a plentiful selection. The woman serving in the breakfast room was charming and brought a special glow to the morning.

The water in the bathroom could have been hotter.

The whole experience was quintessentially French……beautiful exterior, lovely dining room, good dinner, outstanding breakfast and professional service. Our rooms were basic with quirky, minuscule bathrooms, but we knew what to expect and the price reflected that. A big plus was single rooms with double beds! We also enjoyed spending an hour or so wandering around nearby Sées.

The hotel and its setting are superb. It is quiet and well off the beaten track. Food and staff are great. The rooms have everything you need. Much of the hotel is a historic building and must cost a lot to maintain and the owners do as much as they can. It is not all perfect but this adds to the charm of the venue. We love it and will return as often as possible,

The room was pretty basic but very clean and the bed was comfortable. The highlight was the evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent. As somewhere to stay en route between Mont St Michel and Rouen, this was remarkably good value.

When you arrive, the hotel looks charming but inside the decor is less welcoming somehow. If feels as if all the love in the place goes into the food (although breakfast was disappointing compared to the dinner) and they're not that bothered about what goes on behind the restaurant. Having said that, the rooms were more than adequate: perfectly comfortable and clean so if you're not looking for frills, we could certainly recommend L'Ile de Sees.

I have stayed at the hotel several times because it is ideally located when breaking journeys to/from the coast. Quiet location in the country. The food is outstandingly good. Very good value for money

Recent changes at the hotel meant my room was up a narrow staircase and along a twisty passage . I had to ask someone to carry my case to and from my room. Signs for the hotel in the village of Mace are hard to find!
