The accommodation was nothing more or less than expected. The sofas in the lounge area were extremely uncomfortable! It would be nice to have some chairs in the lovely gardens The receptionists were very helpful. Breakfast was quite basic, yes it is a Continental but have had better. The centre was closer than we thought - 10 minute walk, although steep. There are however moving walkways & escalators on the climb back, although some weren’t in operation when we were there. There is a very good local restaurant some 500 yards away if don’t fancy going to the town La Radio - very Spanish. We speak a little Spanish but if you don’t may be worth having Google translate. Overall very handy to explore Santander

Attractive old villa converted to a quaint hotel, apparently a training school for hotel staff. Old style kept through out with Parquet flooring, huge traditional Windows onto a terracota tiled terrace over looking a lovely mature garden and further views to the bay. Friendly and helpful service and advice about eating, in our case visiting local fiesta just 15 minutes walk away in the old Town. The secure parking in the grounds is a huge plus! The breakfast serves in a traditional dining room over looking the garden was excellent including hot options. It’s an oasis of peace and comfort within easy walking to the Town and beaches, and just 8 minutes by car to the Santander ferry by car. We’ll return!

Las Carolinas Garden is a good 3-star hotel on a plateau in a quiet, residential area of Santander. Although it's about a 35-minute, downhill walk to the city centre, there are nearby bus stops from where you can avail of good services of the local public transport service (TUS) to get you quickly to the city centre (route 5C2 or 16) or to the city's lovely beaches (route 5C1). To take the sting out of your walk to the city centre, you can use the free Ascensor de Rio de la Pila funicular for a unique transit experience with a great view. If you are staying more than a night or two, I recommend that you book one of rooms 102 to 105, respectively, which give you access to a spacious terrace with garden views. We stayed for a week in room 105 and loved it. It was very comfortable with a large bed and a spacious ensuite bathroom. The shower was in the bath, which might be a problem for people with mobility limitations. All floors can be accessed by lift/elevator. Our room was spotlessly clean, and was kept that way by the daily housekeeping visits. It was equipped flat-screen TV, a Nespresso coffeemaker, a small fridge, and free Wifi. All of the receptionists we dealt with were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The daily continental breakfast offered a good variety of fare in the hotel's nice breakfast room or, weather permitting, could be taken on the adjoining terrace, and the bean-to-cup machine delivered a decent cup of coffee. While the hotel doesn't have an operational restaurant, there are a couple of good ones in the neighbourhood - the nearby Taberna de la Radio and, a bit further away, Solana de Davila across the road from the aforementioned Rio de la Pila funicular. There is also a small supermarket of the Coviran chain nearby. All in all, we greatly enjoyed our stay in Las Carolinas and would stay there again when in Santander (a great little city).
I can't think of anything offhand.

The ambience of the hotel was nice, relaxing; pleasant garden. The staff/receptionists were exceptional. One steered us to a excellent restaurant nearby, El Radio. One stormy day, Lavinia helped us arrange our travel arrangement for the next leg of out trip. The hotel has bar serving tea, coffee or wine. The hotel has loads of parking.
The hotel is in a nice location looking out over the city. There is a city bus that stops nearby and runs into the city center. But it was a little out of the way.

Nice view from my room facing South. Hôtel located in a garden. Good breakfast and helpful staff. My room had a large bathroom with a window. Safe parking inside the yard. This is the kind of small charming family hotel.
The hotel is on top part of the city. You need to be in good shape to walk back. But the price was good and I appreciated my stay. Parking easy inside the yard.

Hotel has an old quaint colonial feel about it. Lots of old wooden panels and staircases. Easy access to car park off main road with plenty of free parking. Room was clean and comfortable. Beds were ok but a bit firm. Hotel is quite high up from the Old Town. 15/20 minute walk. One tip which saves your weary legs after a night out is to use the street called C. Antonio Mendoza. This street has escalators installed! Fantastic way to climb the hill 😎 Brings you out by La Taberna Radio bar near the hotel.
Breakfast was pretty good, but hot food wasn’t replenished if you go down late. Eggs and bacon on one morning was almost finished when we sat down.

Buffet style continental breakfast was very tasty and a good choice of food. Rooms were spacious and the hotel had an old world charm feel about it. Lovely gardens. Very pleasant staff.
Option to have a snack or drink in the afternoon/evening would be a good option. Hairdryer was old style in room.

It is a rather nice, quiet, old fashioned hotel. Lots of wood panelling and parquet floors. The rooms are large and have high ceilings. The bathrooms have mosaic floors and good warm showers. Bearing in mind the low rate, including breakfast, I believe it offers very good value for money.

Location was good because of the ease of parking and it was easy to get into town although hard work coming back up the hill,. View from the bedroom window was amazing. Beds were comfy, shower was very good, breakfast good and staff very friendly and helpful.
The gardens were really nice and it would have been nice if there were some tables and chairs to sit outside.

Breakfast was fabulous one of the best, room was warm, wood floors, spacious, with small fridge, bathroom with toilet and bidet and good shower in the bath, parking is charged 8 euro but not covered parking, charging hotel guests for parking not good customer service, many hotels have covered parking that is free in Spain!
Free parking for customers is a must, the rest of the service is fantastic. This is the 3rd time I have been to this hotel and have mentioned about parking.
