beautiful and characterful building with plenty of charm. The style and design are elegant. The breakfast room is lovely, light and atmospheric, and the breakfast itself was good. A special touch was the bagpiper playing in the morning, which made it a fun experience. the hotel’s location in Brora i both peaceful and convenient

The standard room we stayed in was on the small side. Although it had a window, the view was onto a roof, which made it feel rather disappointing. the simple room did not really show the hotel at its best. Dinner was a little expensive, and in general the hotel could benefit from closer attention to small details.

The rooms were comfortable and well appointed and the bathrooms had everything you need. The breakfast was good as well, the buffet was well stocked and the cooked breakfast was tasty.

I ordered a cappuccino with breakfast which was a £3 supplement added to the room which is a bit of a shame as it is, however, when my coffee was brought out, it came with a bill for me to sign. The £3 supplement for the coffee hadn't included tax and then a service charge so it came to more like £4. Also be aware that there is a bagpiper who plays around 9am which was great while we were eating breakfast but if you want a lie in, might be worth bringing earplugs! We found drinks at the bar and the restaurant were expensive. Generally, the stay was good but it definitely felt like a chain.

Appreciated cooked breakfast served - more classy than the buffets in other places.The proprietor surprised guests with a few tunes on the bagpipes.Locally sourced food, cooked with flair.Restaurant has relaxing atmosphere with pictures by local artists. Friendly and efficient staff.We will be back.

We could not switch on wall mounted TV by remote control so a member of staff switched on by wall switch. Then we found TV was not responding to remote controller to reduce volume.A second member of staff told us there had been some issues with equipment.Both staff attended promptly and had a friendly manner.

Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Special thanks must go to the young lady on reception who sorted out our accommodation when we arrived, after 7 hours on the road, to discover I had booked for the following week by mistake! Beautiful hotel in great situation, just across from lovely beach and golf course. There were large public rooms and bar area with beautiful pieces of furniture dotted about, log fires, very comfortable, just perfect for relaxing after a long day out or after a meal in the beautiful dining room. Our bedroom (no11)was large, airy and tastefully decorated with a great modern shower room. Coffee, tea, biscuits and water were waiting for us in our room. Breakfast was fab. Huge choice of fruits, pastries, cold and hot diishes. We both opted for the seafood plate of kippers, smoked salmon and kedgeree, delicious. The experience was topped off by a piper appearing at 9am to stand in the sunshine outside the dining room window and play us a medley of traditional Scottish tunes. We highly recommend and will definitely return. An absolute gem!

Friendly, comfortable, warm and inviting. Just what you would hope for from a Highlands welcome in a snowy, winter spell. Relatively recently renovated, the hotel is nicely located close to the beach and golf course. The food at The Curing Yard is very good and the breakfast is exceptional.

We had one of the best rooms, a junior suite which is described as having a ‘garden view’. In reality this was an unsightly view over the bins and an area of construction. This was disappointing. The menu in the restaurant has numerous items for which a supplement charge is applied. This, along with the automatically applied service charge, is a pet hate of mine, especially when a number of the ‘standard’ items weren’t available. This could easily be seen as deliberate.

Some staff seemed a little abrupt and not overly friendly. Rushed service and no clear organisation when it came to breakfast/dinner seating. Had to ask for clean glasses for juice and we were not asked what we would like to drink at dinner until food order was taken even though we had been sat at the table for at least 10 minutes. Manager was talking loudly on the telephone as we took the cases down to the car upon check out...needs to work in office away from guests!

Breakfast was lovely. Good selection of cereal, overnight oat pots, fruit, nuts etc. Cooked breakfasts were large and very tasty. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The hotel had a nice ambience the restaurant was airy and bright. The evening meal was delicious but a little pricy. Nice touch to have the bagpipes in the morning. The bedding was excellent quality and it was no trouble to change the feather pillows (I’m allergic to them)

The walls were very thin in the bedroom you could hear the toilet being used next door. It also took a long time for the hot water to run through. I would like the mirror for the hair dryer to be away from the drinks preparation area. In the restaurant the round table in the window is difficult for the waiters to serve some of the guests (not very nice having waiters leaning over you to serve other guests at the table).

Great breakfast and restaurant, very clean and comfortable room. There are lots of comfy lounge areas spread throughout the hotel. Friendly staff. Convenient parking, hotel is well placed to visit Dunrobin Castle and Loch Fleet nature reserve both of which were nice to visit. Hotel is right next to Brora Beach which was surprisingly nice and even has some small fossils if you look closely.

We were sat right at the back of the restaurant for dinner and breakfast which was pretty drab.

Breakfast was outstanding - yoghurt, seeds, freshly baked goodies, delicious hot food. Big win compared to other Scottish hotels. Room very quiet. Loving the double glazing that most hotels have. Tastefully furbished.

The lack of hot water!! Thought we’d enlighten management and the response? ‘ooh we know…you have to run the water for 20mins at that far end’. Crikey, for a 4 star hotel - either find a solution or notify the guest either at check-in or better still, a notice in the bathroom.

The property was very fine and all of the fixtures and fittings were of great quality and useful. It was brilliantly sited comfortable and a pleasure to be there. The pipes at breakfast were a delight.

I found food prices to be eyewateringly expensive as dinner for two , two courses only, with one beer and a glass of Prosecco, plus an imposed “ service charge “ of some £10 came to £ 102 plus. Even in this world of high prices that is surely way too high. That really spoiled my stay there.
