The location, the friendly and helpful staff, room, view, food. The pool and the places to explore in the vicinity. They owners have thought about the parents - board games, pool and snooker, table tennis and fitness, as well as a very well equipped kids corner.

The shower cabin could have been more spacious, the bathrooms are big enough. The restaurant offers delicious gourmet food and the prices are, respectively, on the higher end. There were several vegan options, which was a really nice surprise for me, being a vegan myself. The budget option is to go to the small restaurants in the nearby villages or to the chalet up the road, they serve cheaper home cooked food.

The location is excellent - very close to Sofia, with a nice view, perfect surroundings. The water in the pool was warm enough, the food in the restaurant was also good. The staff were very nice and attentive. The room was spacious. We had a great time.

We ran out of hot water while I was taking a shower, the breakfast was not good for our taste (it was rich but still.. the kid didn't like anything). There was not bathrobe for the kid and towels at the room was for 2 only. There are some small improvements that can be done to make the bathroom more comfy for use.

Clean air and quiet.

Although on booking breakfast is presented as a buffet ... in reality you have to choose from 3 options none of them being close to what a regular breakfast in a 4 stars hotel should be. The hotel is clean but rooms do not look as a 4 stars ... old furniture, broken or very hard to be used. NO HOT WATER!!! You have to be really fast if you want to catch some hot water :P The hotel is far away from any city.

A wonderful place in the middle of a nature park. Mountain scenery and walking distance from the "stone river". Very kind staff, but I would like more personal treatment in the restaurant. All the more because there are no other options for hotel guests to have dinner.

I would like better breakfast... Maybe we should offer a normal "buffet table".

Excellent hotel in an amazing location! The room was spacious and clean, the view from the balcony was very picturesque. Staff was very polite and helpful. The first morning the breakfast was a la carte (we had to choose the night before), second morning was a buffet. Food was good and abundant. We tried the restaurant for dinner and the food was good quality with an excellent presentation. Concerning the spa, we used the pool (very decent size), steam room and sauna (very spacious). Villa Magus is great for a weekend getaway, some spa time and walks in nature.

Indoor pool area is a bit small. Towels were clean but a bit worn down.

A fully renovated former communist-era hotel on the slopes of Vitosha mountain. Quite close to Sofia, highway until ca. 10km to the location, with a good local road. Clean air, total stillness in the evening, friendly staff, a huge room with the usual amenities. A nice restaurant with some fancy options as well (e.g. vegan and vegetarian). A "half-sized" swimming pool, yet swimmable (there was no one around for the one night my family and I were there), quite warm, with lots of "equipment" around (e.g. swimming masks for kids), towels, a few beach-style beds. A Turkish spa next to the pool, fully operational. Additional offers at commercial rates (massage, a "Russian spa", whatever exactly that is :). Also a small fitness room (the usual - two gladiators, a bench, and a few barbells and dumbbells, there must have been a bike or treadmill, can't exactly remember), along with a table for pingpong. In the reception, several pools and table soccer. The receptionist did not want to charge us as there was no one on the particular day, but they charge most activities, e.g. pingpong 5 BGN for a half hour, etc. There is also a small "children's area" with dolls, toys and the like in the reception. A few nice tracks to walk in the woods around the place, plus a monastery within a ten-minute walk.

A few minor issues not totally justifying four stars: e.g. there was no place to dry the towels, bathrobes and swimsuits in the room. The heating comes from an external AC device, which is cool, but there were no radiators or anything. Likewise, the breakfast was of good selection, but not the best of quality (e.g. cheese, salami, and stuff). There is no real parking lot in front of the hotel, so basically cars should make a long queue along the parkway. Again, this was no big deal as we were almost alone in the hotel, but the receptionist told us they were expecting a full house on the weekend - then it can probably become an issue.

Location, surrounded by forests, quiet. We had a big clean room, everything worked, good dinner.

The only downside: next time I go there, I will book a room which is not directly above the pool. As the pool facilities make noise whole day when the pool is in operation or getting ready for it (it was quiet in the night though). Next, which is also fixable...are the 2 options we had to pick from (the evening before) for breakfast (serve when thete is not too many guests I guess): this is for sure not a good decision to do it like that. For us, it was too small portion. In case hotel management does not want to do buffet style of breakfast, please give guests option to pick what they want from few options (not either/or), let them combine, let them order more or less, let them ask for extra portions....or just simply easy ala carte menu to pick from in the morning.

There was no big problem during our stay, but I think there weren't a lot of guests. We didn't use the SPA area and pool though, so I can't evaluate them. The staff is friendly.

The rooms are enormous but the bathroom is very tiny, so tiny that you constantly hit yourself on the edges of the furniture. This is not a big problem, but I think the problem is the breakfast, which is simply not enough. I understand that when the hotel is empty, they don"t want to make big buffet, but the breakfast packages you can choose from are simply not enough. Especially the French breakfast package - it was ONE piece of fruit, some croissants, TWO pieces of old cheese and some spread and jam. The fitness breakfast was just a bit of yoghurt, musli and grapes.

The room was very large, the facilities in the hotel were also quite decent and the overall atmosphere was very relaxed, just what we were looking for. The nature around the hotel is amazing. The food was delicious, and the breakfast was very rich. I also enjoyed the billiard and the games at the lobby. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. I would definitely recommend.

The restaurant was a bit pricey, although the food was very delicious. Also, I wish there were a mineral bath and an outside pool, but the spa was very nice regardless.

Beautiful place for rest! Very tasty food, polite staff, clean and comfortable big rooms, very good swimming pool. Monastery and walking places for tourism.

I recommend to put signs about forbidden smoking, incl. electronic cigarettes everywhere and especially in the swimming pool because some of tourists are not enough intelligent... As well to give penalties for tourists who are smoking in their rooms (this is a practice in many hotels in the world) because after them it is not possible to clean the smell....
