Excursions were great! Especially the hot springs. The food was very good. The scenery and location were incredible!

The pool was lacking. The hot tub was not operational. The bar and food option at the pool did not exist as advertised.

The hotel complex is very large and beautiful! We had the upgraded room which is a bit smaller than expected and a little tight for a family of four. We loved the hot springs, and the Jaguar restaurant. The sunset deck was really nice too. Lots of birds and coati!

Every activity except for the hot springs was extra. Prices for the activity package was cheaper in line than what they offered at check-in. Also front desk staff was not welcoming at all but staff everywhere else was very friendly. To get to hot springs you need to take a ride on a tractor (trailer has seating) which takes about 20 min. There was very limited times of day to get it from the hotel so you have the plan ahead. We were there during the rainy season (best time to be in CR) so it was virtually empty so maybe in high season there are more times.

We loved how much there was to do and of course how beautiful it was. The day pass can be split up into multiple days. We were there for 4 days and did two activities a day which was perfect for us. Two boys 12/14 and each activities was right up there alley.

Some amenities weren’t available (pool bar and some dining options), perhaps due to it being the down season, but it didn’t really take away from our time. Activities are also limited to specific times of the day that you have to prearrange. Our stay was long enough that it didn’t affect us, but in a short stay, I imagine it could’ve been pretty hard to fit in everything that you paid for.

We chose the mountain side rooms with ac and it was great! The staff is super nice! We loved all the activities they had to offer! We made the mistake of purchasing the “All day” tour through Viator because we had no idea we could buy directly from the hotel so be aware if you’re staying at the property because they really mark up the price. We did all the activities, the horseback ride to the waterfall which was so beautiful! We did the zip lines, hanging bridges and hot springs and the 1300’ water (not for the faint of heart 😅). It was all a great experience!! The restaurants are great, our favorite was sitting on the deck at El Mirador while watching the sunset. Highly recommend!

The only thing I didn’t was that the hot springs close at 5pm, too early in my opinion. Also, the swim up bar was closed when we went, I was told it was being worked on and I was really looking forward to enjoying some drinks at the pool.

Our recent stay at was overall enjoyable. The accommodations were comfortable, although it's important to note that there's no air conditioning in the rooms, which can make them hot and humid during the day.  Dining experiences varied during our stay. Dinner at Jaguar was decent but unremarkable, while meals at El Mirador were a good, complemented by stunning views. Breakfast and lunch at La Montana were consistently very good. The pool area was well-maintained, although we were disappointed to find the poolside bar closed during our visit. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the nearby National Park, a 1 hour and 20-minute drive to the entrance of Las Pailas. Despite the journey, the natural beauty and experiences within the park made it completely worthwhile. As part of our stay package, we had access to Pacaya Thermal Springs, a 20-minute tractor ride away. The early morning visit was serene, with the entire spa area to ourselves—a treat enjoyed by both us and the kids. We also explored the Higuerones Hanging Bridges, where 10 out of 16 bridges were open. Despite this, the experience was great, offering memorable views. We went at the end of the afternoon and at sunrise.  In conclusion,  our stay was pleasant overall, staff very nice, room were clean and highlighted by memorable excursions to nearby natural attractions.

The variety of activities on the property is amazing. Suprprise was size of the surrounding land with trails you can spend hours walking and number of animals to observe. Squirrel monkeys, toucans, motmots etc. We went to the hot springs, hanging bridges and, of course mirador bar and restaurant. Not only reception staff is nice and helpfull. Cheap next day laundry.

You can hear everything from the next room. The cabinas could use some improvement especially when it comes to this. There is not much where to eat despite the announced number of restaurants. In reality, if you are travelling in couple, you have only 2 options where to have dinner.

What a great experience we had at Buena Vista! We were there for three days and enjoyed the scenery, the people, and the cultural education. Right outside our room, we could do birdwatching, and saw some precious agoutis and monkeys. We even got to see three toucans, vividly sharing their colors. We bought the Eco Day Pass, which included the water slides, zip lining, horseback riding, hot springs, and the education about sugar, coffee, and clay pottery production. About an hour drive from Liberia airport, this was a great way to start our trip to Costa Rica before we hit the touristy Tamarindo! Thanks especially to David, our tour guide, who did a fantastic job of describing the animal, trees, and history along our excursions. Be careful of the cute little birds at breakfast. They are ready to swarm if you eat outside! 😂Machos Gustos!

It all met our expectations! I would say that extra care and attention should be had for little ones - the zip lining, horseback riding, and water slides can be a little dangerous.

The check in process was smooth. The staff was professional and accommodating. The property was well maintained and the meals I had were good. I only had enough time to do the water slide and the hot springs. Both were great! Highly recommended. The view from one of the restaurants was amazing.

I had an infestation of tiny insects in my initial room. I had to leave a small grocery bag behind since I could not get rid of the insects in the bag. As soon as I alerted the front desk staff, they gave me another room.

We stayed in the Superior Double Room — it felt almost brand new and was very well equipped. We also booked the full-day activities at the adventure park, and I highly recommend the tour. It’s absolutely worth the cost! If you’re staying at the hotel for a few nights, you can split the activities over multiple days — just ask your guide. They’re all incredibly friendly and helpful. We saw so many animals, and the hot springs were amazing. Don’t hesitate to stay here — you won’t regret it!

The location is just marvellous, and the Spa deserves a very high ranking for its natural beauty. Tip: enjoy the sunset from the Mirador restaurant with cocktail & snacks!

The reception staff might be not the best I've encontered so far in a costarican hotel. I understand you can't smile to everybody and be sales-proactive, but several people of my group, checking in, felt like they were unwelcome customers - with no reason, apparently. Pity, but it's just a suggestion for the direction - it didn't ruin my stay, of course.
