Upon my arrival, I got settled in my room. The air conditioner fan began making a terrible sqeaking noise. It was unbearable. Notifying the staff immediately, I was moved to a different room. After that, my stay was uneventful and pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. For the cost, the amenities were very good with coffeemaker, refrigerator, and microwave. I chose the venue for its convenient location. If I am in the area another time, I will stay at Pier Blue.

A great little place in a perfect location for seeing this lovely state. Great room with a lovely comfy, clean bed. Lovely and quiet at night too. The chap at reception was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay.
When we booked it had breakfast included, however when we arrived we were told that had changed and that we could purchase breakfast at the cafe on site...an added expense which we hadn't expected. This seems to happen a lot in this location, a previous hotel did the same. A little unfair I think, we should have been reimbursed for the non existent breakfast which was already included in the price at booking

We stayed here for a week and had an upstairs room in the back facing the tidal ponds. There were plenty of picnic tables and an enormous amount of singing birds everyday. The bed was comfy and the room has a microwave and a fridge. Overall very quiet location, away from Boston Post Road traffic. Lots of options for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner around the area. Very close to I-95 too.
We had to take out the garbage to the dumpster after Day Two. Not enough washclothes and towels too. Had to go the office after day two to refill the towels ourselves. After that, room service was adequate,

I’ve stayed at all kinds of places, from resorts to high-end hotel and for a motel, this place is very nice , quaint and well-maintained. The staff is friendly, and everything is kept clean. I had no issues with my room, but I’m also easygoing. The bed was comfortable. The backyard area was nice & clean and added a nice touch, especially with the surrounding woods. Considering the town itself is more upscale, the prices reflect that, but I found them reasonable for the area. Overall, I had a great stay, and the furniture in the room was lovely. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean stay! We will be back again with friends and family over the summer.

The service was excellent! The people are very nice and accommodating. I even called the Inn next day because I had left my credit card at the breakfast place across the street to ask if the restaurant was open and they answered my question for me because the restaurant wasn’t answering my phone calls. The facility is really nice, especially the outside is very beautiful and well taken care of and it is nice being outside on the property. Overall, it is a very nice place to stay.

The Pier Blue Inn is in an excellent location to enjoy all of the key sites of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. I dealt with three separate Front Desk personel, and they were each incredibly gracious and wonderfully accommodating. Our room was clean, sufficiently large, and had every furnishing/convenience we needed. The staff was also respectful and considerate of our dog.
The Inn is currently undergoing some renovations. The work was not disturb us, evenings were quiet.

The room was clean and well laid out. The heater was quieter than many that you find in hotels. There was plenty of hot water for showers and the shower head was nice. The location is convenient and the room was very quiet. The lady at the front desk was polite and welcoming.
I booked a King Room and when I walked into my room they had given me a room with two double beds. I almost went back to the front desk, but just let it go. The only other problem was that they put plastic on the mattress, which I totally understand, but then it's just a thin sheet between you and the plastic. It was very crinkly, hot, and the plastic kept slipping off of the mattress. Most places I've stayed have a washable mattress pad between the plastic and the sheet, which helps.

The room was just renovated, and everything was brand new. It was quiet. The view was nice at the back of the property and had picnic tables and chairs. The location was great in its proximity to restaurants and sightseeing. Rick was really accommodating and helpful.
The first room was musty smelling, but clean. When we told Rick about this, he immediately changed our room to one that had been newly renovated. He felt bad about the first room and mentioned that they are still updating them.

Location and a room with good living space.
I booked this hotel through booking.com. I should have booked through the hotel. Booking.com added MANY more dollars per day (more than 1/2 the hotel price) than we should have been paying for the property. I was very distressed to discover that, especially since we spent 7 nights there.

Location was pleasant and quite. There is a nice breakfast lunch restaurant across the street. Grounds were good for walking my dogs. The evening clerk was very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are dated and carpet is old. We booked a disability access room that was poorly set up for mobility impaired people. There is a regular bathtub, not a walk in shower so many disabled people would not be able to use it and the handrailings are poorly placed. No grab bar for getting in and out of the tub or on and off the toilet. No bath chair though they might have been able to provide one if we had asked. Refrigerator needed defrosting and was barely cool. In all fairness, these short comings are common in motels in this price range.
