This was a fantastic place, with modern facilities in an older, refurbished house. The room and bed were large, the bath room modern and clean. The host was superb and we had wonderful breakfasts there conversing in Franglais with him and the other guests. Parking was easy and on site. The place has its resident donkey and goat, in their own apartment and field next to the house, but they made no noise or smell at all. It has its own troglodyte caves with fittings and barrels etc. It was great to watch the birds fly in and out of them. The internet was good. Although it was 10 minutes out of town it wasn't a problem especially if you wanted to use the place as a base for exploring the area including the Fontevraud Abbaye. Which is special.

This was such a perfect place for an overnight stop off on the way home for the ferry, wish I could have stayed a bit longer. Didier (the host) and his house are equally charming, the room was huge and really comfortable with its own private entrance, breakfast was delicious, and it was perfect for travelling with my dog - cross the road for a never-ending walk through rolling vineyards. Josephine the donkey and the goat (who needs a name, Didier!) were an added bonus to my stay!

Nothing at all! I just wish I spoke better French, because Didier seems like a man with lots of stories but we had to rely on Google translate to communicate (which kind of added to the charm!)

I had the pleasure of staying at this charming small castle with a rich history spanning over 200 years, and it was truly a delightful experience. The moment I arrived, the host welcomed me warmly and made me feel right at home. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the lovely donkey that resides in the garden. It added a unique and endearing touch to the castle’s ambiance. Spending time in the garden, getting to know the donkey, and enjoying the tranquil surroundings was a memorable part of my visit.

I can't express enough how amazing was our stay in La Motelle N 5. Everything was perfect. The room was very cozy yet spacy, pristine clean (as well as a bathroom). To be in such a nicely decorated house was an aesthetic pleasure. Super friendly host, I wish my French language was more advanced so we could communicate more easier. The breakfast was perfect. Our dogs and us felt very welcomed.

Beautiful, historical building that is tastefully decorated and furnished. X large comfortable bed. The host was very welcoming and made allowances for our limited language abilities. Breakfast was abundant and delicious and the dogs adored our walk around the lanes and vineyards

Nothing to complain about

breakfast was traditionally French and was excellent. Location was excellent with numerous trails to walk our dog. The premises are beautifully decorated with some quirky touches.

We had a large and comfortable room with a large and comfortable bed with beautiful linen bedding. Our host was very welcoming and really helpful. The house and gardens are delightful. As is Josephine the goat!

The bathroom is just outside the bedroom door both of which are at the bottom of the stairs which didn't seem very private. Maybe a screen or curtain would make popping from the shower to the bedroom a bit easier.

A quiet and interesting location with an excellent host. We visited the nearby Troglodyte village of Rochemenier. Our host showed us that his property also has caves and allowed us to see them. We enjoyed a good breakfast with home made preserves.

Very clean, comfortable and every detail had been so well thought about. Delicious breakfast.

A little difficult to find - a clearer sign would help.
