Casa Akbal felt nice and private, with a lovely swimming pool and outside area. The bedrooms were clean and tidy and breakfast each morning was great and very organised. The hosts were super helpful when we had Wifi Issues and fixed the issue for us so they were very approachable and friendly.

We liked everything but found having to ring the doorbell to be let in a little bit of an inconvenience especially when coming home last as we didn’t want to make the hosts stay up too late, but they were always very friendly and welcoming no matter the time so we have no complaints :)

We liked the small size, 7-8 rooms, I think, and the scale of the Casa. The hosts were gracious and hard-working to make our vacation great. We enjoyed the pool after a hot day of seeing the city and the surrounding villages. The B&B was clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Initially, we were a bit concerned by the location as it seemed a bit far from Plaza Grande (25-min walk) but that proved a plus as it forced us to see what was in between. We took different streets and saw a lot of Merida. We walked everywhere, including to the ADO station, colectivo stops and many attractions.

We had a great one-week stay at Casa Akbal. The property, including the pool, is kept immaculately clean, the breakfasts are delicious, and the owners are welcoming and helpful. After a day’s sightseeing, we especially enjoyed the cool and quiet garden area. The location is perfect—away from the hectic tourist spots, but within an easy walk or short bus ride to everything Centro Histórico has to offer. Having to ring to be let in was not a problem—it was actually nice to be greeted when we came “home”. And it meant we knew that our belongings were always secure.

• Good location, short walk to major sights but out of the central area enough to be quiet. • Large room with the option for 2 double beds which is good when travelling with friends. • Free water available in the kitchen. • Hosts are helpful provide a good laundry service.

• A miscommunication about a taxi booking led to us paying for it twice, and the one they booked for us was more expensive. • There is no front door key available and you need to ring to get in, which can feel like an inconvenience if returning late even though the hosts say it is not a problem. • Unfortunately we didn’t try the breakfast as it wasn’t suitable for vegans.

The accommodations are beautiful. Juan, Lulu and MaryEllen are terrific hosts. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious and Juan would give us great advice when we would tell him where we were going for the day. Parking was free and right outside the entrance. There is a refrigerator in the common area to keep our drinks and dinner leftovers cold. Loved the pool and the air conditioning onthe hot days. There is a convenience store super close and only a 15 minute walk to Plaza Grande and all the shops and great restaurants.

The wife signal was strong, but the internet provider was unreliable. Juan said he is changing providers. We used our phone “hotspot” for our internet devices.

Lovely B&B run by a delightful family who ensured we had a fabulous stay. They were very friendly and eager to help. They even made a great recommendation for a last minute car hire, which worked out cheaper than what we had been quoted elsewhere and the whole process was painless, which if you have ever rented a car in Mexico, you know that is seldom the case. The rooms are behind the main house on two floors beside the pool, which is great for a cooling dip. It was very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are spotlessly clean, beautifully and cheerfully decorated and the beds are very comfortable. The shower has great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfasts were delicious and varied with fresh fruit,yoghurt, muesli, freshly cooked eggs and lots of good coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

Being a B&B, you need to ring the bell to enter and that made me a little uncomfortable late at night but our hostess seemed unphased. The location is near the zoo so it's a fairly long walk to the zocalo and most of the bars and restaurants.

The property is beautiful and quiet, and the pool is nice and clean. The bed is super comfortable, and we slept well. The breakfast is great and different every day, and I especially liked the one on the third day! The host is friendly and will greet you all the time!

The key to the front gate is not given to you, which means you have to ring the bell every time you come back. The host will always be there to open the door for you, but we feel bad that they have to stay at home all the time as guests could come back at any time. Perhaps they could use a password lock or install a surveillance camera on the gate if security is an issue. Additionally, the shower water is either too hot or too cold; you can't adjust the water temperature. This makes the shower experience not that pleasant.

Just everything since you arrive and until you depart. Food, hospitality, rooms, location, the neighborhood is so quiet. The owners are one of a kind, always willing to help, they know the city and the best points of interest. Convenience store just next door makes life way easier! Spotless building with a lovely lobby full of history. The swimming pool is crystal clear, and just feel free to ask whatever you need. The owners will look after you for sure.

Breakfast is fair. One leaves satisfied. It could probably be improved with a little larger portions and perhaps adding some beans to the scrambled eggs. Location is about ten blocks from the city center. This might look inconvenient but has the advantage that it faces a tranquil street which does not happen anymore in the overpopulated town center.

At shower, cold and hot water would be better if they could be adjusted. You either have one or the other. During our stay, this wasn't an inconvenient since we took cool refreshing showers. Climate is so hot that hot water in the shower is not essential. The sink needs to be repaired so that dirty water flows quickly.
