The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, and it had a wonderful, old world charm. It was surprisingly quiet for a central hotel. It was really nice to sit just outside our room in the inner courtyard after a busy day in and around Merida.

The breakfast wasn't the best. The coffee didn't have a lot of flavour either.

We arrived late and the Uber left us on a street where the hotels door were closed, we were knocking and no response at all. I had to call them and they have another door not visible from the street we were. The bed was kind of hard and the steps to go up to the toilet are tall.

Price charged is different from advertised, breakfast is poor and they charge extra for basic stuff such as eggs (and charge absurd amounts), room has no curtains and they woke me up during my vacation to check if I wanted to get my room cleaned

Beautiful spacious interior. Totally unexpected when you look from outside the building. It’s a well renovated older building made into a beautiful boutique hotel. The breakfast was delicious: we had the continental breakfast which was part of the stay and ordered additional hot food for extra charge but totally worth it as it was delicious. Highly recommend. The bed was huge and comfortable and it was very quiet at night which was surprising given the location of the hotel. The staff was super accommodating and polite. Everyone spoke English and totally catered to our every needs.

The washroom is on a top level so those with compromised abilities and can’t walk, I won’t recommend this place, otherwise in all honesty it’s nice to have it secluded upstairs as it gives it a private feeling.

We had an amazing stay at Viva Merida. It started from the very warm welcome we received from Julio, the owner. We got to park our car very easily and safely in a shared parking garage. Then we went into the hotel and were blown away by the beautiful courtyard of the hotel - it looks like it comes straight out of a fairytale. All the rooms are built around this courtyard, so it is the beating heart of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly with great tips to explore Merida and surroundings. The location is also superb as it is a short walk (4 to 5 blocks) away from the busy city center, which makes it a quiet location. We also liked the pool area to cool off after a very hot day of exploring Merida. A big thank you to everybody at Viva Merida and a warm recommendation to stay here when in Merida.

Very beautiful hotel with a warm style, a few steps from Merida city center. They arranged 2 different tours according to our requests and we really appreciated this service. We didn’t had breakfast because we had to leave for excursions before breakfast time, but the personnel prepared a pocket breakfast for us to bring it with us during excursions. Really appreciated. Good balance quality/price.

The main environment was really hot, the pool was full with mosquitos and chlorine. Overall not a big deal given that we spent the full days out for excursions.

The building and the interiors are mesmerising!! The staff are very kind and the location perfect. We could walk everywhere and never needed a car nor public transport. Perfect for relaxing, there is a bar always open for drinks and snacks.

Breakfast is slightly disappointing: it’s served, not buffet, without options and every day the same, only sweet, no savoury. Other breakfast options are paid. The swimming pool does not have a constant filtration system (you need to turn it on manually) so it was normally murky and not very nice.

It is close to downtown but not right in the center, so I thought it was actually fairly quiet at night. The courtyard as you can see is lovely. Breakfast is very nice: pastries, fruit, toast, coffee, hot chocolate, juices. Rooms are lovely and have ample space. We had the one with a bed up the stairs. See the pics in the website. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is an ATM right across the street and great restaurants within 5 min. walk.

Nothing. Maybe bed was a little firm for me personally, but I was so tired it did not matter.

A really charming hotel and good value. The rooms were clean with air con and ceiling fan, all around a pretty central courtyard. We needed to do laundry, and although the hotel doesn't offer this service directly, they were able to get our stuff washed (2 bags) quickly for a very good price! Also if you are dashing off early to see ruins, they can give you a breakfast for you to take, which was nice. We rented a car, and parked in one of their allocated spots near the hotel. The parking cost wasn't included, but was very reasonable.

Ceiling fans were a bit noisy.

The room was large with an upper loft for a third bed. A/c was fierce, though that was fine. Free breakfast consisted of a fruit platter, coffee, juice, pastries. The coffee was exceptionally weak - they really needed to offer espresso/ cappuchino drinks.Other food like egg dishes, was available to a reasonable price. The hotel looks like it was a large mansion with insanely high ceilings. The restaurant bar was in the courtyard and has a retractable roof. There is a small dipping pool which looks very nice though we didn't use. Viva Merida is located about 1/2 miles from the central plaza and a block from the small market where you can get wonderful cheap food at Lupita's/

Hotel common areas were hot outside of rooms running a/c. They should open the roof and let some hot air out. Coffee at breakfast was terrible.
