Hotel Margarita is the epitome of faded grandeur and character. It is very low priced and everything was clean and tidy in our room. We were surprised to have a tv in the room and wifi offered, although the wifi did keep cutting out. The reception area was colourful and characterful and we couldn't care less about cold showers or basic coffee facilties, etc. The plants and flowers everywhere in the open topped hallways made the place beautiful. We had everything we needed and we loved the stay. The owner was friendly and kind when I spoke to him in my stunted Spanish as he spoke no English. The free parking felt secure and was next to the hotel. They let us leave our car there for a few hours after check out. Plaza Grande is a three minute walk away, the location couldn't have been better. Brilliant budget stay. Highly recommended.

This place is five minutes from downtown or called Plaza Grande. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a special price if one stayed more than five days. As my wife and I had dental work done,on the same street, we couldn’t ask for more. Dentists in Merida are great.

A little smelly when it rains. But that was one or two days.

Price was exceptionally inexpensive and hence expectations were low. General quality was much better than expected.

The one drawback was that the night receptionists on each night was watching movies loud, keeping us awake. They did stop once asked to turn them down but it took for me to stand in front of them waving my hand in their face to get attention.

The ladies at the reception are super kind, they tried their best to accommodate. If you need something just ask (blanket, soap, toilet paper...) There is hot water, just let the water running for up to 25min.
