On this trip to Merida. it was all about location. I wanted to be close to shopping and restaurants, without spending the money that I've spent on fancier places in the past. The Colonial was a great choice! It was right across from Chaya Maya, just a few blocks from the main square, and one block from Parque Lucia. The staff were friendly and spoke some English. I booked a double room which was simple and clean. My maid left me water each day, and I found little special touches daily like folded towel designs and my bed coverlet was made different each day. I enjoyed her special touches and was sure to leave her a small tip each morning. My bed was acceptably comfortable. I did not have a balcony. There might be a nightclub nearby because I did hear music at night until about midnight. The AC was wonderful. I was handed tv and AC remotes on check in. Besides water bottles in the room, there is also a water dispenser in the hallway. There is a breakfast buffet available for 250 pesos that was very popular. I went outside of the hotel for breakfast, but it looked good.

There were no washcloths or handtowels. Any noise in the hallways could easily be heard.

The hotel has a great location off the Plaza Principal in the historic district. It's walkable or a short Uber to everything you'll want to visit. The rooftop is very nice, pleasant to sit there in the evening and the staff was nice. No problems with cleanliness or noise.

The one chair in the room was pretty basic. The room didn't have an exterior window.

This was a great stay, close to all the main attractions in Merida, the pool (partially under roof was a great plus, when coming back with the kids after a long day walking the city or coming back from the archeological sites). The staff was great and really helpful with local suggestion, and the parking even though it's three blocks away from the hotel, was really secure.

Clean, if we needed any towels, pillows, etc, we got them immediately, they were always ready to help us or give us information about tours or about the city.

Our room did not have any windows facing outside, only a little one in the bathroom for ventilation. The hotel is being remodeled, our room was not remodeled yet, but it was comfortable, I’m not complaining about that.

The location is top. A couple of minutes walking distance from all highlights and amenities. Plenty of restaurants and bars around hotel. Rooms are very simple but clean. Nice terrace on the top with views.

The pool is small, dark and not inviting. You don’t really have a wish to swim there. Windows are not facing the street, they are facing stairway.

Super clean, friendly staff, cold fresh bottled water stations and the location is perfect!

No mini fridge in room, the bed and blanket could be softer.

Very friendly and professional staff, clean and comfortable room with bathroom and a/c, cool pool was great in the heat, lovely breakfast, great location downtown Mèrida.
