Great location and great value for money. Beautiful courtyard and lovely small but clean swimming pool---love the ancient church lit up ant night--you can seen from the pool area. Very close to the Plaza Grande where all the activities are happening. Very clean room. Little on small side but we made due. You only get a refrigerator with "superior room" not a standard room. Restaurant available for Breakfast--great food----you do not have to get a meal plan -- we just ate there one morning. We have stayed here many times over the last 30 years.

Wish all rooms had a refrigerator. The standard room is on the small side--but the bed wasw very comfortable and bathroom was nice.

The building and location were stunning. We couldn't believe it for the price. The swimming pool was a great asset with a lovely view - although we didn't find the time to use it. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast in the beautiful courtyard. We were able to borrow towels to go to the cenotes! The aircon worked well which was much appreciated in the extreme heat. There were water coolers to refill our bottles dotted around the place. An interesting painting on our wall.

Our bathroom was tiny and a bit mouldy but still usable. Our room was quite small but the building was so extraordinary that it didn't matter.

This was my second stay at the Caribe. I enjoy its location. It’s on a small plaza so it’s entry is off the street. It enjoyable to come out the front door and enjoy a cup of coffee from the Starbucks next door. The roof top pool is wonderful in the afternoon after walking the city streets. The staff is helpful and keeps you comfortable during your stay. There’s a restaurant in the hotel for those who’d rather not venture out goe breakfast and dozens of restaurants nearby to choose from. The showers hot, the beds comfortable and the Wi-Fi acceptable. It has a nice garden in the center of the hotel.

It’s an old hotel and the ground floor rooms can be musty and dark so opt for an upper floor room. It’s worth the extra $. There’s only 4 deck lounge chairs.

Location near cathedral and square, park setting of hotel, Starbucks, hotel breakfast, pool deck on top floor. ease of local transportation, nearby stores and restaurants, hotel facilities: a/c, bathroom and shower, and cleanliness good to excellent, staff friendly and personal. PRICE is excellent for value: $60US and $9 bfk quick and good. We have stayed here three times in six years and overall highly recommend

Pool deck furniture needs to be replaced. Rooms are small and dark, it’s an old monastery

Loved the location and the staff. The pool was on the second floor and was beautiful to swim in as the sun was setting. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful garden setting

The closet was tiny so had to leave most of my clothes in my suitcase. We were originally put on a ground floor which had a strong, uncomfortable musty smell. We asked to be moved to a different room on the second floor and there was no issue.

The hotel is charming, with a beautiful garden and a very refreshing pool upstairs, shaded in the afternoon which was great because it was a very hot day. We would have loved to stay for a couple more days.

The check in process, if you are driving, is a little complicated. You have to go to the hotel in-person first, leave a deposit and they give you a pass for the parking lot. That all sounds great but there is so much construction going on that it took us an hour to be able to find a spot to park for a second near the hotel and run to the reception to leave the deposit and get the pass. It would have been better if the hotel would have given us exact directions (which streets were open or where to park when the main streets are closed) or if they would have been a little more flexible about the process. But in the end it was all fine.

The location! Loved the view of the cathedral. Also, the colonial architecture and decoration, nice greenery in the courtyard - all very well maintained.

Figuring out where to park when we first arrived was confusing - had to find a public parking lot, and walk over - I recommend they send an email explaining exactly how to do that. The hotel is tucked away in a corner and it’s hard to spot. Also, there were ants in our bathroom.

The Carib has a perfect location in the center of Santa Lucia Park, a couple blocks from the square. That location does go with some city sounds. I rented the Hidalgo Suite which gives you two Julliet balconies overlooking the park, a bedroom and living room and two TV's with a couple of English news channels. A Spanish colonial building with a beautiful courtyard

A little noisy until 10 pm or so.

Perfect location, close to the cathedral, grand plaza, and governor’s palace, and many restaurants. I had breakfast only at the hotel, so no comparisons with other places. The food caused no trouble to my stomach, so the kitchen had good hygiene. But the table cloth was worn out and should be replaced. The quiet courtyard was a plus.

Only two hangers in the closet! Need at least five per guest. The room had AC on but still smelt moldy. Bathroom was clean but small and had a step which was hard for someone with knee problems.

Location and staff were brilliant. The bedding and towels were changed every day. Fresh bottles of water in the room everyday. Staff were always friendly.

Pool side sunbeds were not great. There was only 4 and 1 was cracked in the center and they were all mixed. Would be nice to have a bar.
