This is indeed very old classic hotel, which makes it an interesting place to stay. Despite the age of the building, the owners have thoroughly refurbished it so it doesn't look shabby at all. On the contrary, rooms give off the impression of a relatively modern hotel. Obviously the owners are really making an effort to keep the place attractive not only by price. 1. Good location, easily accessible by foot from the Central Railway/Bus station and city centre. 2. Reasonable price 3. Enough light in the room. 4. Very clean. 5. Free tea, coffee and biscuits. 6. There's a nice small inner yard. 7. The charm.

1. My room, though clean and cozy, smelt of old carpet. 2. The room is in the basement, so my window was level with the pavement, right next to the bins. That can hardly add any comfort. 3. Just one towel

I was very happy with my stay at the Avalon and would certainly stay there again were I return to Schwerin, a most attractive, interesting and classy city. My room in the basement was on the garden side of the hotel, so was quiet. There was no en suite bathroom, but there were two spacious bathrooms in the corridor, and I never had to queue to use them. My bed was comfortable and wi-fi connectivity was excellent. There was adequate space for hanging and storage. I did not partake of the buffet breakfast, but it looked very appetising. Coffee, tea and water are available free of charge in the breakfast room. If you fancy a take away, there is a branch of Domino's right opposite the hotel. The main railway station is only a short distance from the hotel (less than ten minutes on foot), and there are good cafes and restaurants near it. To save you walking to the fairytale Schloss, the main sight in town (which will take around 30 minutes), you can catch the No. 10 'bus from round the corner from the hotel. It will deposit you outside the castle. I also recommend walking round the small lake, the Pfaffenteich, a stone's throw from the hotel. I had limited interaction with the hotel staff, but whenever I did, they were pleasant and helpful. All in all, a great stay, and good value for money.

The only thing I could have wished for was a desk and hard chair in the room, which would have made using my laptop more comfortable.

This hotel is located well if travelling to Schwerin by train. A simple walk away from the train station. Out of the station turn left to end of the road then it’s there on the right. Then it’s a pleasant walk beside one of the cities lakes to reach the city centre and old town with the castle just beyond that.

The initial welcome we got. We had called before arriving to ask if we could drop our luggage off. The gentleman had no problem with that s long as we got there before lunch break. We did but was greeted by a lady who was like a bear with a sore head.

Not far from the train station.. They have a mini store with a cash box so if you want a drink or a snack anytime you can get it. The shared rooms are mostly in the basement. There are 2 bathrooms downstairs one of which has a shower and a bathtub. If you want to take a bath which I didn't realize till I was leaving. It was cold downstairs underground and it was nice that there was a radiator with some heat.

The owner or manager is not on site all the time he either has a little house in the back where he goes to have a smoke or I think someone. Who works there had the room next to me because they had very loud shoes when they went back-and-forth at 5:30 in the morning and 11. O'clock at night. The ad says there's a radio and mini fridge and there wasn't. There's a small OK breakfast but not for €15. He tried to charge me for breakfast and all. I did was make my own tea with my own melkin sugar which he promptly took off my bill. On the t v there's no b b c there's only french channel twenty four which thankfully is in english. It should be fifty euros I would expect bit more for sixty five euros.

Everything was okay, as expected. Anser came quickly to my question. The hotel is in a nice old building in a very good condition. The room was perfect for my stay, I was there only in the evenings. Very good buffet breakfast.

No complaints. Just some guest probably didn't really get or understood the message about the key lock and code, they rang the bell several times in the evining and even early morning.

Helpful host, handy location. Room was very spacious and light, with a couch and coffee table plus dining. Appreciated the range of TV channels, good wi-fi.

Split down the middle of the bed, low water pressure in shower, no way to cool room, could hear child in room next to us.

A lovely hotel in a lovely city. Our economy room was much better than we hoped. We had a beautiful view out to a little apple tree in the garden that made our stay very enjoyable. The shared bathroom was spacious and elegant. The location of the hotel is very convenient for exploring Schwerin. Despite being near busy roads, our room was very quiet both day and night. Everything was clean and very comfortable. Good quality television. Staff were kind and polite.

Good stay for a long weekend trip (2-3 nights). The location is walking distance from the city center and the castle, 15 min walk to the grocery store (Edeka). Overall good impression and service. Rooms are clean and breakfast is very nice (for additional price).

The stay was very easy and with fresh facilities. Just what we were looking for. Big nice room that fitted our entire family. And a HUGE plus for the staff that was incredibly nice to us and helped us with a (not hotel related) problem we had with swiftness and such nice manners. A big thank you for that!!

We didn’t get the door code by email in time as we booked very short notice. However, upon calling the host we got provided with all necessary information immediately in order to check ourselves in. Nice place, clean, central location, everything you need for a short stay. We were allowed to leave our bags free of charge for a few hours on the morning of departure. Thank you!
