We liked everything, the room, the view, the little balcony, the receptionists, the dining room staff, the food. Almost forgot - they gave us free transport passes for zones A,B and C, which saved us so much trouble dealing with transport tickets. That was such a nice surprise!!

Just a word of advice for people getting to the hotel by public transport - expect a short hike of ~1Km from nearest bus/tram stop to the hotel. Also, you have two options: take a very steep stairway from the Sanssouci park to the top of the hill on which the hotel is, or take a bypassing road which is longer but less steep and has no stairs in it. Besides getting to the hotel, some of the apartments of this hotel require taking a few stairs to get to. And we saw no elevator. So contact the hotel if it bothers you, I'm confident they have solutions.

I chose this hotel for its proximity to Sanssouci Palace: 10 minutes' walk. The breakfast was excellent and the room very comfortable.

It is a peaceful location but a 15 to 20 minute hilly walk into and out of town again for dinner. Unless you too want to spend a whole day at Sanssouci I would recommend staying in town and getting a bus to Sanssouci. Something I only discovered after spending 20 euros on a short drive in a taxi from the station to the hotel is that taxis are few and far between. But the hotel issues an ABC-zone travel pass for free to all guests which works throughout the Berlin area. After my second night I caught a bus back to the station, parked my bag in left luggage (behind the staircase at the entrance from the bus station) for 4 euros, did a day's sightseeing and caught the S7 into Berlin where I used my travel pass for the rest of my stay.

It is a nice and cosy hotel, located at walking distance from Sanssouci Palace. We arrived around 13.00, well ahead of the check-in time which is later than usual at this hotel but our room was ready and we could get into it without a problem. The person at the reception was very friendly and spoke English. There is a parking space on a hotel site and it costs 15 euros per night. Our room was neat and clean with some pleasant welcome things. The breakfast in the morning had a great variety of food and was served in a spacious room. Special thanks for a strong espresso (in some hotels they also have a coffee machine but espresso is weak) In the hotel, the rooms do not have numbers but bear nice geographic or historic names.

Nothing but I think check-in time should be earlier.

The breakfast was really rich! The main house is really beautiful and the little tower as a viewing platform was really something special. The garden and the opportunity to relax there and look into the distance at the same time was great. For me personally, the direct proximity to the Löwen Villa was something special. This villa is inextricably linked to the resistance around Stauffenberg. The assassination bomb was stored there until the morning of July 20, 1944. It was also recreated on film in the Löwen Villa by Tom Cruise and the movie Operation Valkyrie. The walk to the Sansouci Park is very short too. Just 5 Minutes.

Beautiful building, with a lot of authentic and unique charm. Definitely felt like I was a guest in someone’s home. The room was spacious and very clean. Also, there was no a/c, but the room included a very effective fan that worked perfectly to keep the room cool overnight.

My only complaint was the room was too bright during the night. No rolladens on the windows and while drapes were long, they weren’t flush to the wall so the light spilled in at the sides and from the top. Bright lights outside the window and the late sunset and early sunrise (summertime) made it difficult for me to sleep, but my sleep mask came in handy. A minor inconvenience and easy to fix.

Breakfast was very good with many options and good coffee. The room was very big with a terrace and a nice view. The location was quiet and peaceful. Every room seemed to have a balcony or a view. It was quiet and we did see a few people at breakfast but, it wasn't crowded by any means. The staff are fluent in English and helpful with tourist questions and ideas.

The only "down side" is if you are traveling via bus it is a short uphill walk from the bus stop to the hotel in any direction (yes, the villa is at the top of the hill). We did not sample the bar and there is no restaurant on site. The hotel sent an e-mail a few days before telling us this so we could make plans. There is an excellent Italian restaurant down the hill and the hotel staff helped us with a reservation.

The hotel was charming and peaceful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was delicious and served with care. The location is ideal — close to the palace and other key attractions in Potsdam.

Nice location, quiet and comfortable room. Breakfast range of foods was good. Everything seemed done for people on holiday: bicycle rentals, access to sauna and fitness room. Close to Sans Souci and cafe/restaurants.

Need instructions to use the safe in English. We could not use it due to lengthy German text (impossible to guess how to open or close unless one speaks German). Air conditioning in room seemed inexistent. There was a portable Air/Con near the bed, but impossible to find a way to turn it on (no power button and did not respond to simply plugging into power point). This made the room quite warm at night with high temperature during the day.

Hotel Villa Monte is run by owners who care about the standard, comfort and friendliness of their hotel and staff. This hotel is one of the best I have stayed at whilst travelling. It is very good value for money. They want guests to relax and enjoy time out, and do everything they can to honour that statement.

Lovely, clean, and friendly boutique hotel. Easily parked outside on the street though a space was available. The buffet breakfast was hands down the most amazing spread I have seen in any hotel ever — lots of homemade breads, cheeses, meats, spreads, eggs, cake, fruit, vegetables, cereals, espresso, juices, etc…and very gourmet and beautifully laid out.

The family room is in the attic and thus very hot in August, even with the windows open. No a/c and one very weak fan. But outside of summer it is certainly a stellar pick — two bedrooms, one with two twins and the other with a large 2-person bed; two bathrooms with showers; clean and comfortable beds and spaces. No elevator to top, but it’s an old building.
