Panga Chumvi gives outstanding value for money in a beautiful setting with an excellent restaurant and brilliant, smiling, friendly staff. We had a sea facing studio. It was HUGE and the view directly to the beach was amazing. Comfortable beds, excellent Wifi in the room (possibly because we were near the restaurant/central Wifi point) beautiful large shower room and our own patio for sunbathing/lounging. We went for the half board option, which is very unlike us. We normal choose to eat in local restaurants. However, it was a blessing as my husband got food poisoning in Stonetown so we felt safer, health wise, eating in the hotel restaurant which served the best food of our 3 week stay at 4 different hotels. The pool was lovely and quiet and the tropical gardens well tended. I would not hesitate to recommend this place if you want a quiet week on a beautiful tropical beach with the whitest sand I have seen in the World. Even better than The Seychelles!

There is nothing the hotel could do to improve our stay. The only thing we didn't like was that the beach was a little quiet for us. Although VAST and beautiful, there was little to do but walk or go on an over priced boat trip to the dolphins and reef which, as everyone did it, had FAR too many boats at any one time troubling the dolphins. Kite surfing was an option but the tide and wind were only suitable for this at very limited times on certain days.

The location is perfect - situated right on the beach, about mid-way up the island, with a gorgeous stretch of white sand coastline to walk for hours. The accommodations are pretty and comfortable, and the staff are excellent! Hotel manager Jamal is more than willing to help you book additional excursions and make sure you get to where you need to go. Sasha in the front office was super helpful as well - always friendly and ready to provide assistance. The included breakfast was good as well.

The wifi was occasionally hit and miss due to local power outages, although that was beyond the venue's control - something to be aware of, however. The cuisine they serve is good quality and the chef was inventive: the menu for dinner, however, is a bit limited, so if you are staying more than a few days then be prepared to visit other neighbouring hotels to find diverse options. The cuisine available is good, though!

The rooms were very cozy with a nice rustic vibe. The landscaping of the hotel was beautiful. The hotel grounds were overflowing with flora, a lot of it blooming in various colors. There's also a pool that is perfect for low tide times, where the sea level is too low to swim in. I really liked the selection of fresh fruits offered at breakfast. Most of the dishes served tasted really good.

I would've liked there to be more variety between the lunch and dinner menus. I didn't really enjoy the air refreshener spray used after cleaning. I think it was un-necessary, could've done without.

The location is excellent on a quiet clean beach. So if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to be. It is just as beautiful as Nungwi but without the crowd and bars and noise. Though we did go to Nungwi for a sunset cruise which made us appreciate Matweme beach even more. Resort was easy to locate as it was well marked from the main road. The staff were excellent and welcoming. Very helpful in planning for things to do and booking transport. Rooms are basic but spacious, clean and with AC and fan and hot water. Beds were comfy. A clean small pool that has a baby pool. They have a generator that ran even the A/C so we were not inconvenienced by the frequent blackouts. Breakfast was okay..fruits, eggs, pancakes bread and butter, fresh juice and they made ma adrican tea. So definitely recommend it for families and anyone looking for peace and quiet.

No water in the room you have to pay but they gave us for free. Restaurant prices were quite hefty. Husband was not happy that a beer goes for $4. Our soap was not replaced ..used it untill it was paper thin.

Absolutely brilliant place. Very helpfull staff, all of them smiling and ready to help, lovely people willing to share their culture! The garden is very nice, well maintained, and we were very satisfied ( sometimes even more) with the meals. Highly recommended.

My only criticism is the coffee situation, i would have loved to have real coffee instead of instant, but i know they had a machine that had a technical problem during our stay.

Forget about the rustic beauty and the proximity to the stunning beach. The staff made my stay unforgetable. From manager to barman and waitresses i was made to feel Karibu Sana. I truly believe I've made some good friends and memories there. Great Unyama lol... That ones for you Khayaya.

sorry chef a little more spice please

Very relaxing place on the beach. It is on a quiet part of the Island which was perfect for us! The staff are super friendly, and the manager Jamal was very accomodating, helped us with everything we needed and made us feel very welcome.

There where some issues with the electricity some of the days. So no lights and the restaurant wasn’t able to prepare all dishes on the menu

Our recent stay at this Zanzibar hotel was simply fantastic. We were blown away by: Exceptional Staff: The kindness and helpfulness of the staff, including room service and managers, made us feel incredibly welcome. Beachfront Bliss: The hotel's prime location on the beach allowed us to wake up to breathtaking sunrises and enjoy lazy afternoons in hammocks under swaying palm trees. Aesthetic Beauty: The hotel's design seamlessly blended with its surroundings, creating a serene and elegant atmosphere. Seaside Breakfasts: The terrace overlooking the sea offered a perfect spot for delicious breakfasts with stunning views. Sunrise Magic: Waking up to the sunrise over the Indian Ocean was a magical experience. In summary, our stay was a dream come true, thanks to the wonderful staff, beachfront location, hotel's beauty, peaceful hammock moments, seaside breakfasts, and mesmerizing sunrises. We can't wait to return to this Zanzibar gem.

Our recent stay at this Zanzibar hotel was absolutely delightful, and we're already looking forward to returning. However, we did notice a couple of areas that could use some improvement: Uncomfortable Flooring: One minor issue was the discomfort caused by the wooden parquet flooring in our room. It had a tendency to pinch our feet, which was slightly inconvenient. Unreliable Internet: Another point of concern was the unreliable internet connection. In today's interconnected world, having a consistent and fast internet connection is essential, and unfortunately, it didn't meet our expectations during our stay. Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience at the hotel was outstanding.

The resort location is exactly as we were looking for, so relaxing and nice. I already miss the hammock between the coconut trees and my room terrace watching the sea and hearing the calming sea waves. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The resort gives genuine and authentic Zanzibar appearance and vibes. The pool and the pool area is nice. The sea swim was very enjoyable at the high tide and the sand is so nice that we could play all day and night. Short walks on the beach to neighbouring places. The night sky with glittering stars by 11pm is amazing and magnificent. Special thanks to Cara who made sure we are staying at nice rooms and supported our check in. Jamal, the resort manager was beyond words can express how wonderful and hospitable he is. Awazi was great, attentive and responsive made sure our check-in was smooth and he was welcoming (we all miss you Awazi). The housekeeping staff headed by Paulina (Super nice person) were great and efficient. The evening housekeeping and spraying team were very nice and 😁 joyful. Aysha, Harriet, Jessica, Halima, Zaineb, Kayaka, Kalvin and the remaining restaurant staff were amazing; professional, friendly and pleasant. The food was excellent and delicious (world class chefs and kitchen team). The Maasai show on the beach is unforgettable. Also noticed the patrons who come to stay at the resort are from all over the world and generally nice people. The resort overall was safe, friendly and happy. The facilities are well maintained and the landscaping is beautiful. Our activities and transports efficiently arranged by Jamal and Awazi. This is a resort that I highly recommend for everyone; single traveller or couples or family. We have stayed 8 wonderful days here and we absolutely shall return back again. Once again, THANKS Panga Chumvi Resort.
