The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful, all with such sunny smiles! The hotel while basic, is very pretty and comfortable. It's small and cosy and not a hint of any loud, guzzling or overbearing tourists! It's very quiet which is exactly what I wanted and the food selection is wide ranging and tasty. The manager/owner couldn't do enough to assist - he even allowed me the use of a room, hours after check out time, to shower and change before my late flight home, completely free of charge. A lovely, welcoming, boutique hotel and great value for what you get.
Timing a dip in the sea is tricky. If staying longer I would have preferred somewhere where I could just get in and out as I pleased and not have to worry about prickly sea urchins. That said, I probably wouldn't have gotten the lovely peace and quiet! In any case I did get to enjoy the beautiful clear waters and the incredibly white sand at full tide and enjoyed a good float and bob about (too shallow to swim......but you can use their gorgeous pool for that).

Lovely hotel right on a quiet beach. The food was great in the all-inclusive option. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home.
The bed was very hard but this seems to be a Zanzibar-wide problem as the bed was hard in all 3 places we stayed. The cocktails on the all-inclusive list were not that great. For example, a vodka orange had orange squash (or it could have been Fanta) rather than real orange juice. Saying all this, these were minor things - our overall stay was extremely lovely. I would recommend this hotel highly.

Each member of the staff are welcome you with all of their hearts, are there for you when you need something. They care, they always have some nice words. The hotel's cat, Caccola is lovely and she is also part of the staff :) As a repeater, I can say that the hotel is worth the money you pay - you can get upgrade if you can only book B&B to half board, or even to all inclusive - you have several possibilities. The dining area is one of my favourite places of the hotel, since it is next to the beach, during breakfast time you can enjoy the view. The breakfast offers you several options, there are sweet, as well freshly baked meals you can order. The menu for the lunch and even for the dinner is a great idea - you can choose what you prefer to eat. You can even combine the dishes of the dinner menu, which is always varied and offers different type of food. Some nights the hotel offers special programs, like suaheli dinner - which was absolutely a must try and a great experience, or live music. Vanilla is fantastic! The hotel is situated on the marvelous beach of Matemwe which offers you a calm and relaxing beach holiday. If you like long beach walks, enjoy the sun and take some beautiful pictures, this is the place you need to stay. The village is close to everything by car. Makuti Tours which has a desk at the hotel reception, offers you great tours to get around the island.

Perfect location, super friendly staff. Attentive but not overbearing- a true hidden gem! Food was to an extremely high end european restaurant standard. A tranquil secluded setting, a relaxed and informal oasis. Perfect for the discerning traveller or couple looking to relax. Quite calm with style is the vibe. Grounds and cleaniness immaculate.

My wife and I loved the proximity to the pristine white-sand beach. The staff from the manager to the pool caretaker was remarkably professional and friendly. They attended to our needs and provided with an exceptional service.
We did not like the spa, the employee was not as meticulous as the rest of the team that took care of us in the hotel. I would say she is the only weak point of the hotel.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The food is very appealing and diverse. Almost perfect beach and the sea is great. Fine sand that doesn't get hot even in the greatest heat. Absolutely recommendable!

It was not the first time in Zanzibar and in this lovely hotel, and it always turns out to be the best choice from many perspectives. I should stay in another hotel for a couple of days (Sunbay was fully booked, which I can totally understand :)), but after 2 days they called me that if I prefer to go back, there is a room for me. I absolutely agreed to come back, it was also a nice experience. Thank you!

Th property was absolutely amazing. From the moment the arrived Marco and staff greeted us with huge smiles and really enthusiastic energies and though we were old friends. The location, the pool and the beach were heaven. The bicycles were great to go for little cycles.
The mattresses were a little too firm. Not an issue for me at all, but just a minor downside.

A nice little hotel on a quiet pristine beach. It was clean, comfortable, with nice pool and beach area. A wonderful team running the hotel, from the front desk, to restaurant, cleaning crew to manager everyone went out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. Would stay here again.
