Small compact hotel with rooms located above licensed premises. All clean, tidy and comfortable. No breakfast provided. Bar obviously available afternoon and evening. Check in was polite and very efficient. Parking available on site which may be restrictive at popular times. Location is fine if accessing the cities of Sunderland or Durham plus coastal locations very handy. Plenty of walking routes into countryside available within short distance from the village.

The private access and egress had a few trippy areas so a little care needed. One of the 2 nights of our stay was subject to a little bit of music noise late evening (although generally hotel is peaceful and quiet)

Great location for us as we were attending a wedding at a venue near by. Short drive to the coast, Seaham is lovely little seaside town with pretty harbour. About 20mins in to Durham City itself. Rooms were clean and comfortable with fresh towels, hand soap and shower gel in room. Wall mounted smart TV too . Staff were so friendly as were the locals in the pub…all ages and all just so welcoming…busy little place. No food served but they have lots of take away menus available and happy to have your food delivered there. We sampled the Chinese and were not disappointed! On the Friday night, they had a singer on and a game of bingo! We were up dancing with the locals and met friendly lady called Margaret who was there with her crowd. Various shops and larger supermarkets within 5minutes drive.

Only recommendations would be perhaps a couple of wall hooks or towel rail in room to hang towels. The little reception type area could benefit from a table top fridge just to keep the sandwiches and snacks we bought cool. But no issues at all really.

Friendly and helpful staff. Friendly local bar. Had the playoffs on the TV in the bar. The fridge was handy for keeping our food fresh. We have stayed here several times before and will stay here again. We know what we are getting. The negative reviews about the music are a little harsh. It is a traditional local village pub after all and at the weekends I expect music. It doesn't go on for ever and we are always asleep well before it ends. It is also clearly stated that the pub does not do food but there is a kitchen and a fridge.

A hook in the bathroom on which to hang towels would be handy. Decaffeinated coffee in the room would be great also. We know from our previous visits that it isn't provided as standard, (we never asked if it is available however), so we bring our own.

First impressions were really good, nice area, clean and tidy looking pub. We paid on check in and were given our keys. We were quoted £88 but on check in she said it was £78.50. I queried it but she was adamant that all we needed to pay! We had booked a twin room but were given a quadruple room with a double and twin beds. It was a sizeable room and the amount of beds was not a detriment. There was a small sitting area, plenty of storage and clean and tidy en-suite. We were aware there was no food available in the pub but we were shown where we could get plates and cutlery if we wanted to bring food in. We went down to the pub on the first evening which was a typical old style pub. It had sports on TV which was not really our thing so we had a couple of drinks and went back to our room The beds were very comfy if very bouncy! I almost rolled off one of the single beds so treated myself to the double. The linen was crisp and fresh, there were plenty of good quality pillows and towels. Considering we paid £78.50 for 2 of us for 2 nights, I think we had a great value for money stay and would stay again.

The only negatives I can think of are very minor- the extension lead didn't work but we managed and the toilet was noisy but it was a macerator toilet so to be expected. You could also hear noise from the bar but as we booked a stay in a pub, why would you expect not to! It didn't disturb us and didn't go on late.

The hotel and cleaning staff are all so friendly, helpful and responsive. The beds are super comfortable, the double glazing cuts out all road noise, and the room was clean and had everything we needed including a smart TV. The accommodation has its own entrance so you don't need to walk through the bar to get to your room. Excellent value for money.

Just the very poor wifi - very patchy and very slow. There's no food service despite what it says online.

Location was great, pub was lovely as was the staff, the courtyard was great for letting out the dog early morning. Place was lovely and warm. We were topped up with tea and coffee,towels were included,plus hand soap and shower gel , over all very good

The toilet in room 2, I have one of these in my own house, it really dose not function like it should, just 3 toilet sheets of paper and you have to flush at least 3 to 4 times and that’s just the paper,also the shower was to hot, could not get it to regulate correctly.

For anyone wanting to visit County Durham, the OYO in Murton is centrally located and won't break the bank! This is the second time I've stayed here and the rooms are clean, secure, and spacious. This is not a five-star hotel...it is a lovely old village inn that has been renovated and brought up to modern standards...with a pub on the main floor to boot!

The bathrooms are a bit small and outdated and could do with a new makeover. This did not affect their use in any way - they're just not very pretty!

Bedroom was good .. dog friendly and clean .. didn't use the pub or eat so can't comment .. location was good if that's where u need to be .. we were visiting family .. really nice park just up the road before you get to Dalton retail park which again is walkable and dog friendly.

some of fittings in ensuite could have done with a little maintenance (taps loose) didn't affect our stay .. pub was a bit noisy below ..

Staff friendly and helpful, coffee/tea refilled daily. The room was clean and bed comfortable with a modern ensuite bathroom with a shower. The locals in the pub are chatty and welcoming. Nice village close to parks for dog walking and local amenities. Ideally situated for days out at Seaham and Durham and plenty of local beaches.

No food is served on the premises but they let you order food in to eat in the bar, they have various menus behind the bar. The location was perfect for us as we were attending a wedding at the Old Pump House. The room was clean and tidy, the bar area also, we got a lovely welcome on arrival by the lady who ran the bar. All the locals were friendly and the atmosphere was really good in the bar at night. Would book again if I was in the area.

Nothing at all. Lovely place to stay for the price we paid. Everything in the room what we needed was there, and the room was cleaned and coffee & tea was refilled up.
