Wow - great place, the room although done a year or two ago was SUPER clean and well presented. The Cleaner lady and her daughter were so pleasant. The young staff were so polite and friendly the owners should be so proud of them. The meals were excellent, great choice and a fair price, good portions and super service. Did I have a favourite member of staff yes I did, Charlotte behind the bar was so lovely and bubbly made you feel so welcome. I never saw the owners but the joint young manager and manageress run this place extremely well. Will I go back 100% we will.

We would have no hesitation at all in recommending Three Horseshoes. We stayed for two nights, in clean comfortable rooms with facilities to meet our needs. We had an evening meal both nights and found the menu to be varied and plentiful (as were the plates of food - we could not believe how generous the portions were). All four of us in our party found the food to be outstanding. The service was fabulous with friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Everyone we came across who works there was the same, and it really added to the welcoming and comfortable feel of the setting. Thank you.

We had a meal at dinner time, it was really delicious, and the price was reasonable. The room was good size, the bathroom was quite big, both were clean and comfortable. 12 minutes drive to Durham, easy access.

Two options from the breakfast menu were not available: porridge with blueberries (only honney was available), and toast with smoked salmon and egg. It was quite disapointing. I ordered hashbrown with pouched egg and mushroom, but I would like to have toast with jam when I finished my dish. I had to find the waiter and order toast, in my opinion, the toast should be put on the table. Or, at least, the waiter should ask if we wanted toast. The noise from the road, as it was warm and we left the window open; and people leaving the pub during the evening and chating out lound outside. The shower was leaking water to the floor. When I finished my shower, the floor was flooded.

Nothing. The staff were helpful, attentive, and on call if needed. There was going to be an electricity national grid issue during our stay. The manager contacted us well in advance and explained the situation, and allowed us to cancel should we wish too. We were so pleased we didn’t the food was exceptional. The popularity within the local community was evident with full car park on arrival but parking was still available. The menu was extensive and moderately priced. The food was served promptly, hot and plentiful in its portions and delicious.

Owen was amazing throughout our stay. He was attentive and kind and nothing felt like a chore. I honestly think he made the weekend just by how kind he was and friendly and is certainly a credit to his mum! She brought up an amazing man. The bed was amazingly comfortable and we actually ended up with a really early night accidently as I passed out before 9am! The shower was elite and such a delight to use and the hot drink selection in the room was fantastic! We ate there on the evening and morning and the selection was fantastic. As a Veggie the choice was amazing and the chips UNREAL I'm not a chip fan but they looked amazing and I was not disappointed at all. I'd have loved pudding but I was far too full! Breakfast was a wonderful selection and the meat eater out of us was very impressed by the bacon and sausage and he is normally very fussy so that says it all. All the bar staff were so kind and great at their jobs and so friendly and made us feel so welcome. The fact the place is in the middle of nowhere it was so busy and we are already planning on coming back just for food because it was so tasty and I'd like to experience more of the menu!

Nothing it was brilliant!

Clean, comfortable and well decorated rooms, excellent variety and quality of food and all the staff were very pleasant and have been very well trained. The service here was much better than in some far more expensive restaurants l have eaten in.

Can't really think of any negatives! This is one of the most welcoming places l have stayed whilst travelling with work and restaurant quality food and service at pub prices. It's also ideally suited for visiting Durham and one of the few pubs l stay in on business that l would enjoy bringing my wife to for a short break if we ever decide to visit the area.

The staff were friendly, accommodating and generally wonderful. The food at breakfast and in the restaurant was delicious, good value and plentiful. The room was as advertised and the view round the back was stunning.

The bed was slightly squeaky and the light in the corridor was slightly disruptive in the night. The vent in the bathroom needed cleaning and was therefore ineffective at removing steam after showers - but overall these small issues did not affect how much we enjoyed our stay.

Both breakfast and evening meals were EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!! Extremely tasty and very good menu choice with copious portions. The surrounding views of the Inn were relaxing. Please note- Traffic noise from road outside could affect sleep for some guests. Also, whilst I do not own an electric car, charging points would be useful for those that require them.

Leaving hotel! Missing Sunday roast lamb!

It was great value, as it included a lovely cooked or continental breakfast. The pub below didn’t disturb us. Our room at the front was set back from the road, which didn’t bother us and had country views beyond. We appreciated the window box outside which had lovely fresh, colourful flowers matching other well tended planters at the front of the pub which set the tone well. The room wasn’t big, but it was adequate for our needs and the shower was fantastic. We ate dinner on each of the three nights of our stay, we enjoyed the food, it was terrific! Thank you to all the staff, you were wonderful!

We both found the beds a bit hard and there was only a thin mattress cover, replacing this with a mattress topper would make it more comfortable.

We ate dinner one evening which was very nice and ate two breakfasts. Everything was nicely presented and well cooked. The bed was very comfortable and overall everything was satisfactory. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The 3 Horseshoes is some distance from Durham on a main road. Traffic is constant throughout the night and although double glazed, it is difficult to ignore.
