Great location for visiting Kynren and The Beamish Living Museum. Restaurant had a really varied menu. Staff were professional, friendly and accommodating. The room was airy and the bed was comfortable. The power shower over the bath was excellent. Everyone was happy and had a "can do" attitude. Any queries were responded to and actioned. I would definitely stay here again.

No Apererol Spritz is my only criticism, but there were plenty of other drinks to choose from, so I'm not really complaining.

Honestly this was a fabulous stay from start to finish. We stayed on a busy Saturday night but despite how busy it was every single member of staff was warm, welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. We were checked in quickly, our room was a little warm but the windows opened and we could turn the radiator off so soon was at a more comfortable temperature. The room was big, clean and the bed was super comfortable. The food was amazing, the choice was massive and when we finally decided what we wanted we were not dissapointed! We had the beef in ale pie and sweet and sour chicken....but all the other meals on the surrounding tables looked just as good! Breakfast was another high point, so accommodating for picky eaters like myself, and a big enough brekkie for satisfy the other half. Can't wait to revisit this little gem of a place

incredibly hard to pick fault with this place so all I could come up with was that the menu when you read it just does not do the food justice when it arrives, could do with being a bit more descriptive so you have an idea of what a banging meal you're going to have!

Our room was very comfortable, the restaurant food was high quality and plentiful. Staff were really friendly.

A couple of small things really. Firstly, not a great selection of real ales in the bar, ok for lager or cider drinkers though. Secondly, the restaurant stopped serving food at 7pm on a Sunday. May have just been me, but I don’t recall seeing any sign or notice saying this, especially if you are out all day and expecting it to be open until 9pm.

Breakfast was a feast, set us up for the day. Was very impressed at the choices provided! Everything from cereal, yogurt, fruit juices etc to a full English breakfast & variations on that theme!

Waited 40 mins on arrival as our room wasn’t ready (arrived at 2pm). Initially was disappointed in the room we were given, when booking in June, had asked for a room with a view (special birthday weekend & our wedding anniversary) but we were on the back of the building, with just a view of a roof. On opening the window could hear the rumble from traffic on the main roads . . but thought that must be the best they could offer us. Our room was very clean & well maintained with a good selection of teas/coffees, had the usual hair dryer, kettle, nice modern shower etc would have preferred two bath sheets rather than just the one.

The room was quiet and very clean. The bed was comfy and a lovely pillow! Not used to sleeping in a single bed though, so was very aware not to move and fall out! The evening meal was great although there was a 45 minute wait due to the volume of customers. Staff were lovely. nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and arrived in good time and very tasty.

The room was on second floor with very steep stairs (I have bad knees so it took me a while to get to the top!). Next time I stay I will ask for first floor room- less stairs to navigate!

Very handy for the venue I was attending. Staff were great. Excellent pub food. Good breakfast included. Outside seating for unexpected heatwave! Parking on site. Free WiFi. Lovely old mill building.

As usual with single rooms, up at the top with a view over a noisy ventilation pipe...but ceased at 10.30, much to my relief! They should tell occupants that. But I could park my car within sight. So didn't mind the view.

We had a very nice stay at the Old Mill. Highly recommended. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with great lighting in both the sleeping area and the bathroom. They also had an electronic shower which turned out to be nice. We had our dinner at their restaurant and the food was good although they were very busy and the wait was long. We were able to get a couple of appetizers (potato skins and nachos) which helped and they were really good. Breakfast in the morning was very good as well!

Lovely old property, all staff really helpful, breakfast really good. Room was quiet and had a very spacious shower in bathroom that delivered a lovely hot shower. Very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Good location for us attending a local wedding. Quiet location. Good value.. would recommend.

I generally don’t leave reviews but on this occasion feel compelled to do so . The Old Mill exceeded my expectations, probably due to the cost of the room booked and we were so amazed at how wonderful ,clean and how large our room was , such value for money and with breakfast included! The restaurant was excellent as was the food and the staff were attentive and friendly. We noticed that there were lots of local people eating in the restaurant too.We would not hesitate to recommend The Old Mill ……

A beautiful, quaint country inn, perfect for me travels in and around the north east. Easily accessibly from Durham, yet off the main roads and highway. I was impressed by the quietness of the rooms, their isolation from the tavern area, and the food and drink was excellent.

There was perhaps a little bit of road noise audible from my room, though it may have just been a loose window. The meals were a bit more expensive than I expected, but very generous. No major complaints really.
