Beds were comfortable and room was cosy

We were told on arrival that there was a wedding and there would be a bit of noise as our room was above the wedding room! It was that loud that the bed was vibrating m. Really we should have been told this when we booked up at the beginning of the week. The heating was on full as soon as we went into the room. We rang reception as we couldn’t find a way to turn the heating down. They told us that they controlled the heating throughout the hotel. We ended up having to open all four windows and put the fan on.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Great food and excellent for weddings and occasions. The gardens were light up at night which made it look so pretty. The staff were nice friendly and would go that little step above and beyond to try to make your stay a good one 😃🥰

Beds had spring mattresses which were getting passed there best. So were very uncomfortable, it dipped on one side were people had been sat on it, it was lumpy & very hard to sleep on the boards of the divan itself. For the price u pay per room per night I expected a better mattress. Plus king size beds would be nice instead of a small double. My room was right above the function room, as there was a wedding reception going on, it was very noisy and after the the function was finished, all I could hear was the dragging of tables and chairs as staff cleaned up. This went on for an hour plus so by the time I was able to go to sleep it was gone 2am ☹🥺🥱

Our room was gorgeous, breakfast and evening meal was delicious. There was a wedding going on and the hotel was busy because of this but it didn't affect the service we received at all. My daughter called the hotel and asked for prosecco to be put in our room as a little anniversary surprise and staff even scattered rose petals on the bed and arranged towels in the shape of 2 swans, a lovely little touch. Tea and coffee facilities and toiletries were really good quality. Plenty of towels. Looking forward to return visit.

Very minor issue bout facilities, towel rail was loose, only mentioning so staff don't think we caused it.

Food was sensational; we had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and breakfast the following morning; selection was impressive and food quality excellent; good staff and service throughout; room very acceptable indeed; overall a great place to stay

It was a little noisy because there was a wedding reception/party taking place; I think if you stay here over the weekend you have to accept that; that might bother some other guests but it didn't bother me at all or detract from the experience and would not deter me from booking again

The room was lovely and overlooked the gardens. I was upgraded to a double room and so was pleased to have the extra space and larger bed. The breakfast was lovely and much enjoyed. There is a lovely lounge which we were able to sit in during the evenings away from the bar and have a few nightcaps

The bathroom is a strange layout in the way it has been designed for this room. I would encourage the owner to spend a night in the room to see what I mean and use the facilities but to be frank it doesn't work from using the shower to using the toilet. There needs to be a phone in the room to contact the reception.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting relatives in Durham. Hotel was exactly what we were looking for & only 5 mins from the A/M1 so easily accessible. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. We had dinner on both nights - food was excellent. A special mention about the staff. Every member of staff was extremely friendly, helpful and above and beyond accommodating. Thank you

Squeaky floor boards in the second floor rooms were somewhat annoying 🙈

All the staff at The Bowburn are exceptional in their customer service delivery and ability to engage with their customers. Nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay so good. This is the second time I have stayed here in one of the lodges and they are just perfect especially when here for work. The big sofa is so much nicer than having to perch on a bed to either work or watch tv and the little outside seating area is so nice to have with its own table and chairs after a day in the office. Menu is varied and always really good .

Good location, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable and good va,ue for money. Plenty of car parking and good access to the motorway. Breakfast was good and cooked to order, the buffet for the event we attended at the hotel was good and plenty of it. The catered for coeliacs which was very welcome staff were great and understood the concerns and requirements.

Our room was cold we did complain, the duvet was very thin we did complain and the hotel did apologise and discount the room the rest of the parties room were warm, no heating in the bathroom which was disappointing and made a cold exit from the shower and no lifts, the top floor is accessed by a very narrow steep setof stairs not great for those with balance and joint problems.

I thought it was a wonderful cosy little stay. We loved it and will definitely be returning. The staff were so friendly and we loved our little home from home.

If I had to be picky I'd say the room could with a little fridge. We brought some breakfast stuff and as the breakfast finishes at 9am we like to have a little lie in so we bought stuff but couldn't keep them fresh. Also great for cold bottles of water. The cushions were a little bit mishaped too but apart from that. Perfect!

Room was very comftable and clean, bathroom in the executive suite was amazing. Breakfast was really good, especially the eggs benedict! And bar and gardens were beautiful for a drink .

Our room was above the kitchens so when the windows were open (we stayed on hot summer day) the kitchen fans and vents were right outside the window and very noisy from very early on. A big hot water pipe ran around the entire room and was constantly red hot so was like having radiators on full blast constantly.
