Nice size room and comfortable huge bed. Zest restaurant ok for breakfast. Only had dinner once but fish and chips too greasy, not much fish and too thick bread crumbs, my chicken tikka still pink and raw in the middle, lucky we never got charged for it. Pool side restaurant has nice ambience but meals we chose not good quality chicken, bones and grizzly, not hot. Only had 1 meal there. Afraid we had to go out dinners during the rest of our stay. Nice pool. Not so nice bar. Weird uncomfortable horse saddle bar stools. Ran out of gin and tonic!!!!! .

We had a nice stay here. Staff were friendly and helpful, the pool and grass area were very nice to relax in. There's a small gym also which we used. Location a plus, easy access to train station, market and palace. Beds comfy enough and good air-con.

The bathroom was a little smelly and could have been cleaner around edges of shower etc. Breakfast was ok but had to ask for tea as it was not readily available, and not a great system for ordering omlettes/dosas as it depended on the person you asked bringing it you and if they get called away somewhere then you may not get your food. Some tissues in the room would have been great.

Location is the first one followed by it’s vibrancy, well maintained premises, friendly staff . We had a wonderful and relaxing stay during our family vacation. The hotel offered excellent service, comfortable rooms, and great amenities that kept both kids and adults happy. The warm hospitality, delicious food, and peaceful atmosphere made our trip truly memorable. Looking forward to coming back! The senior staff at the restaurant are good they have an ear for the guests and they took a good care of the guests needs.

The restaurant serving staff could have been little humble and should have known their job well when a guest enters into the restaurant a welcoming smile and help seat the guest and the follow-ups nothing was done in my 2days visit to the restaurant.

Staff was very friendly, the food was very nice. I felt taken care of throughout my whole stay. It was no problem taking a guest to the room with me throughout the day and also chill on the pool.

Maybe the pool bar service could be faster. I do think that was because technically they were not really open yet and just did me a favor by still serving me. But then it could have been made more clear by written documentation when what is open. But they were overall very friendly, so that is just a small note on the side, not a real issue.

The staff were excellent- friendly, helpful, responding to requests. The room was comfortable. Lovely pool area. Centrally located - easy tuk tuk ride to sights. Bit of a calm oasis in the city.

The outdoor evening dining by the pool was spoilt by the loud club type music. Also nightly live music from 70s Americana duo felt very out of place. Would have been wonderful to have had something more “Indian” and gentler. Pool sometimes got a bit crowded out by young travellers paying to use the facility.

Hotel is located at the centre of the city very close to many tourist attractions. Mysore zoo and palace was just 10 mins from the hotel. Overall ambience was great and we had ample car parking if you come by your own car. The checkin process was seamless inspite we reached the hotel 1 hour later than the said time. I booked two rooms and they allocated one suite room among that (as we came with a toddler). Rooms were very spacious and the outside view was also great. Restrooms were also clean and spacious (could have added bathtub/jacuzzi atleast in suite room). We had breakfast included in our service and they really had a great range of menu and they were delicious too which was both child and elderly people friendly. We stayed 3 nights and ordered milk for our child every day and night during our stay from in room service. It was delivered on time and it was not charged (very grateful for this child friendly gesture from the hotel management). Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family!

Pool at hotel was not kids friendly. They only had 4 feet and 5 feet sections and my 3 yr old kid couldn't really enjoy the pool. Also they didn't have the pool tyres for kids as well as adults (they said it was punctured and not inflated), so we had to purchase them from the hotel store (not sure if this is their business idea :) )

First class swimming pool. Staff are wonderful, Lilly in the buffet breakfast and and all round Abhishek, back-up in the bar and in the restaurant.

The bar is treated like an outcast room, neither useful nor functinnal. It's a bit like the management don't really want or need it. I would say treat it more like a permanent service. Keep Ravi the regular barman there instead of sometimes there and sometimes in the restaurant. The coffee shop has taken over the outside seating area but if your lucky you can get in there and have a smoke.

We spent 3 nights here and really loved it. The buffet food was excellent in the main hotel restaurant. Lots of choice to suit everyone and fresh breads are brought to the table as required. There is also an outside restaurant next to the swimming pool. Gym and Spa facilities on site. Nice grounds. Palace is a about a 10 minute tuk-tuk ride. The hotel also has entertainment in the form of musicians Glen and Robert who perform wonderful guiter based songs in the garden area at weekends. Was not expecting to hear classic b-gees (60's), Glenn Campbell, Merle Haggard and some Cliff Richard! Really great guys who do requests and have a wide range of songs. Get yourself down there to here a few tunes!

Our stay at Hotel Southern Star Mysuru was an absolute delight! A huge shoutout to the amazing staff who made our visit extra special—Ester, Abhishek, Betcy, and Pinku. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and dedication to service truly stood out, making us feel well taken care of throughout our stay. The dining experience was another highlight of our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, and what made our dinner even more enjoyable was the live music by the talented duo Glen and Robert. Their performances created the perfect atmosphere, adding to the charm of the evening. The hotel's prime location in Mysuru is also a plus, making it easy to explore key attractions like Mysore Palace and Devaraja Market. Overall, Hotel Southern Star Mysuru exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of comfortable accommodations, excellent service, and delightful dining with live music makes this hotel a must-visit. Highly recommended, and we can't wait to return!

Nothing to dislike

We were upgraded by wife and son and me to the next level of room. It was large and comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast had a wide and varied offering. The three of us had paid for this and we enjoyed the morning meal.

What was a downer was the banana leaf vegetable meal we had soon after we checked in. There was no rhythm to the serving of the courses. We kept waiting and waiting. The servers weren't able to answer basic questions about what was being served. They seemed raw and untrained and the food felt stale. At 500 rupees a person it was a huge let down. We sat down at 3.15 or thereabouts in the afternoon. Maybe they had run out of food ? I don't know.
