Fantastic! Our stay at Rolf's couldn't have been more perfect... Everything from start to finish was really great. We arrived to a super friendly welcome and treated to a well needed drink in the lovely bar area. Our room was great, immaculately clean, lovely decoration and had everything we needed. We ate in the dining room and we couldn't fault anything... We had the venison and the rack of lamb, both beautifully cooked with lovely vegetables and potatoes, followed by a some great local cheeses and a glass of port. The breakfasts were hearty, filling and beautifully presented with a fantastic selection. Decoration throughout the property is creative and inspiring with a lovely stylish yet comfortable approach. Service throughout our stay was brilliant... Friendly, welcoming and efficient. We wanted for nothing. It is a family/friends run establishment and this really shines through - there is a great vibe. If we are in the area in the future it would definitely be our destination and we highly recommend.

We spent two nights at Rolf’s in Baltimore and had a truly wonderful experience. The room was small but charming, clean, and fully adequate for a comfortable stay. The food was outstanding — refined French-style cuisine with a subtle German touch. We started with the scallops St. Jacques and the duck liver, both rich and perfectly balanced. For mains, the venison was cooked beautifully, and the fish stew — still made by their mother — was absolutely delicious and full of tradition. What really made our stay special was the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by Frederica and Johannes, the lovely brother-sister duo running this family business. Frederica was a perfect host — gracious and attentive — while Johannes impressed us not only with his culinary skills but also with his sense of humor and passion for cooking. It’s a charming and heartfelt place, where you feel the family history and pride in every detail. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Baltimore — both for dining and for a peaceful, authentic stay.

Breakfast was superb—we had the poached eggs and avocado, which were delicious. The location is remote, so a car is necessary to get around, but we were aware of that beforehand, and honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying in a Country House. Freiderike greeted us warmly with a smile, took the time to explain everything we could do in the area, and let us know when they’d be available. The surroundings were lush and green, and although it was quite cold outside, the room—as well as the shared kitchen and sitting areas—were warm, cozy, and inviting.

Linda and I plus my brother and his wife enjoyed our 3 nights at Rolfs . The welcome from Frederica and Johannes with Prosecco on arrival was a foretaste of things to come . Our rooms were comfortable and smart with just the right atmosphere.Great breakfasts … with super selection of cooked choices and delicious fruit/ yoghurts/cereal and home made bread. ( poached eggs Benedict cooked by Johannes was my favourite). We enjoyed dinner on one night … Wild venison steaks on a bed of red cabbage was magnificent. The real bonus was the fact that this is a family guest house with 3 generations interacting with guests and creating a welcoming atmosphere. We will return

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! A small family run hotel, which is super comfortable and beautifully laid out, with gorgeous courtyard gardens and comfortable sitting areas. The restaurant is superb - really top class food, although it is important to book your table though - they take dinner reservations from non-residents, and the food is so good that they have quite a reputation and book up fast! The staff in hotel are very friendly and helpful, and they even give you a welcome drink on arrival. The hotel has a well stocked bar in addition to the restaurant. Breakfast is also superb. Overall staying at Rolf's is a wonderful and utterly enjoyable experience, which I will definitely be repeating!

Everyone we encountered was so friendly. It's just a delightful place. The food is truly exceptional -- everything.
The truth is, I don't even want to write a review because I'd prefer to keep Rolf's a secret. There are very few places in the world I can say that about. There are a few things that other people might not like: if you do not like small inns and villages, this is not the place for you. We would have enjoyed lounge chairs or hammocks for reading or resting in the sun, but set off on foot and in the car instead, took the ferry to Sherkin, and had a great time. We'll definitely be back. Thank you!

Ideal location. Quiet and peaceful at night while only a few minutes walk to the centre. The accommodation itself is beautiful. Lovely gardens, reading rooms. The restaurant was incredible. We had dinner and breakfast. Everything was well thought out and high quality. Lot of character in a great setting. Frederika is a great host. We will certainly be back.

What a gorgeous friendly place to stay, would recommend to everyone. Such lovely hosts, the welcome drink was a fab surprise that put us in great form. Rooms are very cute, spotless and comfy. Great shower! 10 minute walk to the village but I enjoyed the little stroll. Really nice reisling in the bar and good value for drinks and a nice atmosphere where all the guests and staff chat away. Breakfast was tasty and plenty of it, no problem in bringing extra of anything. Already planning my next trip there

Breakfast was cooked to order, with lots of options. Table setting was lovely with a continental tower and fresh flowers. Welcome drinks, comfy room, friendly staff, delicious food - home from home. Frederick and Johannes were great hosts. Lovely outdoor space. Short walk to the harbour. Views at the Beacon were stunning, it’s a well kept secret. Great location for exploring south west Cork. We’ll be back! Thank you.
