Our stay at Merrill House was very comfortable, with a bed and pillows that let you sink into relaxation and sweet dreams. The room we stayed in 'The Marchioness of of Lorne' was on the ground floor facing the front. It was large and the bathroom was great. Such a beautiful hotel with lots of character and great staff. Breakfast was also very satisfying. Fantastic location, easy walk to town. I think the hotel was full but during the day it was quiet and hardly saw any other guests.
Unfortunately with our room there was a lot of noise directly above, around 7am each morning. I think there is a staircase directly above, so lots of footsteps and banging, which woke me early.

Our one-night stay at Merrill House was unforgettable. This beautifully preserved Victorian mansion is full of charm, character, and thoughtful details. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. Jordan, the owner, was incredibly friendly and generous with his time, offering great insights into the County and making us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, cozy, and full of personality. The entire house is a feast for the eyes, carefully curated art, historic touches, and a timeless elegance that’s hard to find. Breakfast was a standout: hearty, delicious, and clearly made with love. Parking was easy, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was both luxurious and inviting. Merrill House is more than just a hotel, it's an experience. We only stayed one night, but it left a lasting impression. Can’t wait to return.
Nothing to say !!

Perfect location, so clean and modern while still echoing the historic nature. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely return.
Honestly this is more of a me problem but I saw someone on TikTok say they had a haunted experience and when we walked into our room i realized we were in the exact same room as her, so i had a really hard time settling and falling asleep because I got in my head. Nothing weird happened and this was totally my fault. Some of the photos of individuals from the Victorian age in the room kind of creep me out a bit which didn’t help. I would totally stay here again though. We were told we had the Victorian room which was the only room left so I also thought that was a bit funny considering it was the exact room the girl on TikTok said was haunted lol

My daughter and I visited Picton for a few days away to explore the county and stayed at Merrill House. I loved the little touches that made our stay relaxing and special. We enjoyed having morning coffee on the balcony in our fuzzy robes and slippers overlooking the gardens and trees. Beautiful! The room was perfectly decorated and exceptionally clean. We also liked that it was close enough to the main street to walk to restaurants and shops and to wander by the water at the marina. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We would certainly love to stay again!

We loved everything about Merrill House. The concierge was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. This lovely approach was repeated by all the staff. Our room was beautiful and comfortable, we especially liked all the unique touches. We had a meal in their restaurant on our first night and it was superb. We enjoyed watching the squirrels playing and the fireflies dancing which added to the magical feel of this place. We would definitely like to stay again.
There was nothing we didn’t like.

Amazing place to spend a few days. The house is beautiful and staff so welcoming. We had local sodas and cookies as a welcome gift. Walkable distance to the cute village of picton. Highlight: they give passports to be used at local wineries of Prince Edward County. It includes multiple tastings to many wineries where we were welcomed to taste local wined for free. It was really anice add on to our trip. Only 15 minutes from Sandbank park. I would absolutely recommend.

It's not a hotel. Its much more. A twist of Royalty. Cozy. Romantic. Warm. Modern too. Quality stuff. Apt for any Special occasion. Everything you can think of is in the room which you will not find in a 5 or 7 star. Never been to a bathing/Shower room where the control knob is opposite to the overhead or handheld shower. Awesome 👌 the details of every wall/ceiling in the Chateau must be viewed. Congrats to the creative designer, too. Spent 2 awesome nights. From a wonderful Sean, Concierge you feel like more than a guest. Walking distance to main street restaurants.

Lovely restored mansion, eclectic decor, comfortable bed, nice amenities and decorative touches in the guest room, outstanding breakfast
The room was quite cramped, and while there was a very large balcony, there were two uncomfortable metal chairs on it, namely, not very welcoming and not shaded. There was really no hotel lobby. There are a couple of living rooms on the ground floor that look more like museum rooms than places to welcome guests in a common space. The reception is at the back door and the front door seems locked and is not used, so these living rooms which are closer to the front door remain unused. It just seemed odd for such a beautiful mansion, not to have more welcoming common spaces to enjoy.

Location! clean and efforts to make my sejour great. Excellent ambiance at the restaurant. The staff was kind and diligent, particularly Sean. Thanks for the tea at night, Sean! The surroundings of mature trees are lovely.
The original room on booking.com had two beds. The decoration is a bit pretentious, with a corner in the bedroom that felt under construction (a broken frame with a black fabric), which is a strange feeling. The food was OK, but there were too many flavours mixed. Sometimes, less is more. I enjoyed my dinner even though I had expected better for the price. However, they make a great effort to do well.

The system for viewing television is too complicated. It involves going through internet to get to TV. Leave the internet access to residents on their cell phones. Just provide television that you can turn on and watch programs of your choice. We spoke with other guests and they expressed the same frustration.
