The design of the hotels from bed linen to curtains and the room design aesthetic was beautiful, sleek and modern, with an overall art deco feel to the rooms. The onsen and sky lounge area on the top floor was beautiful and lotions and shampoos from the hotel were gorgeous. The outdoor pool overlooking the city, the river and the bridges and railway tracks was a great vista to overlook while outdoor bathing. The place was super clean and the staff were always friendly and very helpful. A very relaxing stay and the hotel is located over the municipal Wakayama library and the railway station which is a fantastic connection to Kansai Airport. A lovely stay was had by all in the Kandeo Hotel in Wakayama.

That was a great hotel and experience - Japanese bath / spa and Finnish sauna were great. Between 8-11am there is hardly anyone, especially during the last hour it was literarlly empty. Breakfast buffet was good with large variety to choose from. And the room with trains view and sitting area next to the windows were very much appreciated by our 5yo. Parking is a bit non-straighforward but quite convenient in the end - best to park in the 3rd level of the Starton parking from which you'd just walk through the terrace / mall to the hotel's elevator. Don't forget to give a parking ticket to the hotel staff for a discount stamp whe parking overnight.

The location of the hotel is perfect, situated just above the train station, with a lovely bookshop underneath. While the entrance was a bit tricky to find, it was manageable for us. The staff were super helpful and spoke good English, making the check-in process smooth and easy. Upon entering the lobby on the 11th floor, we were greeted by a large window showcasing an absolutely stunning view, which was a delightful surprise. Overall, the hotel was clean and comfortable, although the room was a bit smaller than we expected. The sockets were conveniently placed, making it easy to charge devices. The public bath on the 12th floor was fantastic. Although small, it was an outdoor bath with a beautiful view of Wakayama. The water was hot and relaxing, especially while enjoying the cool breeze.

We booked a corner room with an L-shaped window, but it was easily visible from the car park, which was a bit concerning. Additionally, the lift took quite a long time to arrive. We booked a double room, but we noticed that some in-room equipment was lacking; for example, we only received one of each item, such as a toothbrush, slipper, towel, and bottle of water. This was a bit disappointing, as it would have been nice to have enough for two guests.

Exceptionally clean in all areas, very helpful staff, many good quality breakfast choices with some different items each day. Location was excellent for catching trains to different areas and easy access to taxis, drugstore, konbini and grocery store. Walking distance to Wakayama castle as well.

I read online tattoos are allowed in public bath from 1200-0600, but at the hotel the time posted was 1200-0400. I could not being myself to stay awake or wake up that early so was disappointed to miss the skyspa

The spa was wonderful. There were wrap-around towel-like things that, as a foreigner, I wasn’t sure how to use. But me and my kids were not comfortable dipping in the outdoor onsen completely naked so we wore the wrap-around and dipped since swim suits are not allowed. I told it to the staff and she was kind and gentle and said it’s okay, that I just put the wet wrap-arounds with the used towels. The staff were warm and one even spoke English so it was welcoming for us English speakers. Everything was great and smooth. I booked the hotel on a last minute rush because we went there on a whim and didn’t read much about the inclusions etc, and didn’t know that I reserved without breakfast included so it’s a shame because the view at the lobby was excellent. We could have just included breakfast when we got there but it’s cheaper online so we just skipped breakfast since we were vegetarians anyway and probably not much choices for us so it probably won’t be worth it but I’m not sure.

The bed might just be a bit too soft for my husband that he couldn’t sleep on it with his back pain so I just gave him the blanket and he slept on the floor. He said he slept well there. 😁 I was expecting a room with a river/lake view out their beautiful full-wall window, but we got one with the city view. It wasn’t so bad but in the morning it’s so hot by the window and too bright so we had to close even the light-proof curtains and just used indoor lighting.

Located at train station. Short taxi ride to Wakayama Castle. Short train ride to Wakayama Station for change to express train to Shurahama Beach. Staff remembered my name. The outdoor onsen was lovely. The layout, design and style of the room was beautiful.

No sign to open air onsen. No map to onsen and open air onsen in room. No online map to front door of hotel in relation to train station exit. That said the indoor and outdoor women's only onsen was lovely.

Clean and very spacious room at a very good price. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and quite fluent in English compared to other places. Located right at Wakayamashi station, supermarket and restaurants are just downstairs.

1. I always prefer some working table for laptop and things. Though the room is very very nice (I gave 10 points) but would be great if I got a bit bigger table than the small glass one there. 2. It would be great if you could post parking info on booking.com , eg. link to another page with info. I think first time customers may find it hard to get to the right parking. 3. Be careful, the parking does not have max daily cap, if you don't get stamp from hotel, it will be so high like 5-6K yen. But if stamped, it is 800, which is ok for me. Calculate ahead if you plan to drive in and out many times in a day. But if you come by train, this is super convenient.

It's right above the train station, and there's a bus terminus The mall is very convenient for travelers The area around is a bit hip and mixed, with many eateries The room and facilities are just so modern and clean The room view to the city and the castle is nice The sky open-air spa and sauna gave me a nice experience

The JR station below is Wakayama-SHI station, and you have to take a short ride to Wakayama station, which is the main station, and that gets you elsewhere on JR. The frequency of this line can be low at times, like 1 train per hour.

The hotel location was great. Close to the train station and had food option pretty much next door. Great food options too! The included onsen and sauna facility was amazing and clean. While the room was a little small but this is to be expected for typical hotels in Japan. We were comfortable with our toddler. Surprised that the public library was next door and had a huge children area. Wish we could have time to spend in there too. Such an aesthetically pleasing library!

Nothing. Everything exceeded my expectation for a hotel that's pretty much at the train station.
