The communal areas for eating and relaxing were excellent. The ability to engage with others staying made it a friendly environment. Free tea and coffee available from the well-equipped kitchen. Good area for parking and felt like it was a safe location. Although there were no staff when I checked in, it was an easy process. The room was a single, but spacious, with an excellent quality bed, and recently refurbished, modern bathroom. Very comfortable room. Some refurbishing work is ongoing around the premises, but didn't impact my stay. For those staying longer there us a laundry area and staff offer a laundry service for a small charge.

Although there appeared to be some form of air-conditioning or ventilation in the room, it didn't seem to work. We were in the midst of a heatwave so did make it difficult to cool down in the room, so it was a cold shower that did the job! The blinds on the window didn't block out the early morning sun, not a problem for me as I am an early riser, but you may want to consider black out curtains to supplement the blinds. The LED lighting in the room is a little under powered, OK for watching TV, but trying to pack a bag or do anything else in low light , made it a harder job than it should have been. This is just constructive feed-back and not in anyway meant to detract from a very enjoyable stay. Outside of the property requires some tidying, in the garden areas.

This was my second stay at West Point House and won't be my last. I have family in the area and was looking for somewhere near them for my mother and I to stay. We both have mobility issues but on my first visit i phoned West Point and spoke to Gavin . He was very helpful and made sure we were both allocated rooms on the ground floor. He did the same on this occasion. West Point is a bit different in the sense that the kitchen and lounge are shared facilities. Its mainly used by those who work in the towns industrial area, but I'm so glad I found it. Although shared, the facilities are excellent. both lounge and kitchen are exceptionally spacious and equipped with everything you might want (and more) Each room has been allocated its own shelf, fridge area etc for storing food and your spoiled for choice with the array of hobs,ovens,toasters,air fryers etc. Everyone I met, whether staff or guest were warm, friendly and helpful. In fact, on arrival last week we bumped into a couple we met last time who often stay to visit nearby family. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job of keeping the shared kitchen spotless and have perfected a system for ensuring that everything continues to run smoothly . I honestly have to say I can't imagine finding better accommodation at a better price.

One very slight issue would be the bedroom lighting. I would have preferred it a bit brighter for reading/needlework, though I've noticed this often seems to be an issue in some hotels too. Of course I didn't think to ask about it during the day cos it wasn't a problem then,and by the time I realised the staff had gone home . I'm sure they'd have provided a lamp or something to help.

What a fabulous place! The room was lovely, beautifully presented, the kitchen is so well equipped and spotlessly clean and a large comfortable lounge and garden area. When i booked I had my reservations as it is listed as contractors accommodation , so I had to trust in the great reviews it receives. It is as good as any hotel I have stayed in for a lot more money, I just had the best weekend there and will definitely return. The staff are just the best and clearly work hard at presenting this very well organised and spotlessly clean accommodation.

There is nothing to dislike

Absolutely perfect self-catered accommodation - great kitchen facilities with everything you could ever need, very clean, modern and well maintained. Large, modern lounge area and decent sized garden as well. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Great value for money, can't ask for any better - will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

I wanted a reasonably priced room and a safe place to park my motorcycle, this hotel was perfect, there is a pub within walking distance, Barrow and its facilities are a short drive away, everything required for storage and cooking is provided so self catering or eating out are both easy options, there's a beautiful coastal walk nearby, plenty of places to visit in the area, yet the island is so quiet, I will definitely visit again.

Very clean rooms, a nice common room area and well-equipped kitchens give the traveller flexibility for self-catering. The hotel was sparsely occupied at the weekend (used mainly by contractors during the week I imagine) and we felt we had the place to ourselves. Friendly staff were on hand and keep the place very tidy.

The staff are super friendly and stop what they are doing to help. Love the proximity to the beach, convenient parking, kitchen facilities constantly improving.

To the potential guests. There is plenty of signage asking to respect other guests who might be sleeping, please consider that between 11pm and 7am and keep the noise to a minimum.

The accommodation was beyond expectation. There is a large kitchen, very clean, to share for cooking ones own meals. A large communal sitting room with Sky TV, also a smaller TV in the bedroom with Sky. Cleanliness is important and this accommodation has a very high standard of cleanliness. My room was on suite, the shower facility excellent, plenty of room. The bed was very comfortable WIFI held signal and was easy to connect too. Plenty of space to hang clothes, with hangers provided and store other personal items. Sufficient power sockets, for hairdryer and iPad. Parking outside, plenty of space. Space for disabled and Electric cars. Staff communication after booking excellent.

The location was perfect for exploring the island and the Lake District. Even though we didn't stay in the Woods, we took a tour round the glamping facilities and it made us this of glamping on our next vacation considering that we're not really the camping type lol. On a more serious note, we highly recommend West Point House to all visiting the Lake District. Thank you West Point House/ Wood team. Keep up the good work

This is not a dislike but rather something for the hotel to consider. "West Point might want to look into investing in bicycles to rent out to visitors. This would add value to the hotels facilities and help visitors explore further NCN700, NCN70 etc

Comfortable room with a well-appointed bathroom....the shower is excellent. Nice big lounge, a sizeable garden that's great for chilling in and an unbelievable kitchen for all guests to use..
